Almost Heaven Campground Introduce

For those seeking a true escape into the heart of the Endless Mountains, Almost Heaven Campground in Forksville, Pennsylvania, offers a serene and unpretentious retreat. Located in the picturesque Loyalsock Valley of Sullivan County, this campground is a favorite for local Pennsylvanians who want to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with the raw beauty of the North Central region. Surrounded by high mountains and lush forests, the property provides a tranquil atmosphere that lives up to its name, offering a peaceful sanctuary for both short-term visitors and those seeking a long-term camping solution. The surrounding landscape is defined by its deep valleys and the historic charm of a region that has remained largely untouched by the rapid development of modern cities.

The philosophy at Almost Heaven Campground is centered on kindness, compassion, and a genuine love for the outdoor lifestyle. Managed by owners who are frequently praised for their generosity and diligence, the park fosters a close-knit community vibe. It is a place where neighbors look out for one another, and the management goes above and beyond to support their guests. This welcoming spirit makes it an ideal choice for retirees, families, and solo travelers alike. Whether you are arriving with a large RV or a simple tent, the emphasis here is on the "country camping" experience—prioritizing open space, scenic views, and the quiet sounds of nature over the rigid, high-density layouts often found in commercial resorts.

Located at 206 Sock View Rd in Forksville, PA, the campground is situated in one of the most ruggedly beautiful parts of the state. It is easily accessible via the scenic highways that wind through Sullivan County, though visitors should be aware that the mountainous terrain means cell service and internet connectivity can be limited. This "off-grid" feel is considered a major draw for local users who want to truly unplug. The campground is conveniently positioned near some of the state's most iconic natural landmarks, including Worlds End State Park and the historic Forksville Covered Bridge. Its location in the Loyalsock valley ensures that guests have a front-row seat to the dramatic changes of the Pennsylvania seasons, from the vibrant greens of summer to the world-renowned fall foliage that blankets the mountains in autumn.

Accessibility is prioritized with on-site parking and a layout that accommodates various types of camping setups. The property features large, open fields that provide plenty of room for vehicles to maneuver, as well as spacious campsites that offer a sense of privacy. For local residents of the Susquehanna Valley or those traveling from further afield in Pennsylvania, the ease of access to the Loyalsock Creek—renowned for its clear water and excellent fishing—makes this an ideal home base for aquatic adventures and mountain exploration.

Almost Heaven Campground provides the essential services needed for a comfortable and functional stay, whether you are staying for a weekend or planning a more permanent residency. The facility balances the needs of modern RVers with the rustic requirements of traditional tent campers. The management works tirelessly to maintain the grounds and ensure that facilities are available to support the camping community. The following services are offered to guests:

  • Full RV camping sites designed to accommodate campers and trailers of various lengths.
  • Designated tent sites located in peaceful, scenic areas of the park.
  • On-site parking for guest vehicles and secondary transportation.
  • Maintenance of common areas, including large open fields for recreation.
  • Assistance and accommodation for long-term campers or those facing unique housing circumstances.
  • Professional on-site management that prioritizes guest safety and comfort.
  • Pet-friendly policies that encourage responsible owners to bring their dogs along.

The highlights of Almost Heaven Campground are found in its simplicity and its spectacular surroundings. One of the most significant features is the sheer amount of space available; the park is known for its "huge open fields" where children and pets can play freely. The scenic views of the surrounding high mountains provide a constant reminder of the majestic Pennsylvania wilds. For those who enjoy the water, the proximity to Loyalsock Creek offers opportunities for fishing and swimming in some of the cleanest mountain water in the state. The area is also a haven for wildlife, and it is not uncommon for guests to spot deer, turkeys, or a variety of native birds during their morning walks.

  • Quiet and peaceful environment designed for maximum relaxation and stress relief.
  • Close proximity to Worlds End State Park, offering world-class hiking trails and overlooks.
  • Spacious sites that allow for a more private and authentic country camping experience.
  • A pet-friendly atmosphere where animals often feel calmer due to the tranquil surroundings.
  • Direct access to the natural wonders of the Endless Mountains and the Loyalsock Creek.
  • A family-friendly environment that is considered "good for kids" who love the outdoors.
  • A supportive and compassionate community managed by kind-hearted owners.

When choosing a campground in the North Central Pennsylvania region, Almost Heaven is worth choosing for its authenticity and the peace it provides. In a world where many vacation spots feel like a constant rush of activity, this park offers the luxury of silence. It is worth choosing for the camper who values the "human element" of service; the numerous testimonials from guests who have been treated with exceptional kindness during difficult times highlight a level of care that is rare in the hospitality industry. For those traveling with pets, the calm temperament that the environment encourages in animals is a significant benefit, allowing for a more harmonious family trip.

Furthermore, it is worth choosing for its prime location. Being just minutes away from the Canyon Vista overlook and the various trails of the Sullivan County state forests means you can enjoy top-tier recreation during the day and return to a quiet, secure home base at night. The lack of internet and cell service is a feature, not a bug, for those who are serious about their "digital detox." Whether you are looking for a seasonal home to enjoy the cool mountain air or a temporary spot to rest during a cross-state journey, Almost Heaven Campground provides a hospitable, scenic, and deeply restful environment that truly captures the spirit of rural Pennsylvania. It is a place where you aren't just a site number, but a welcomed member of a quiet mountain community.

Due to some circumstances in my life I needed a place to park a camper for an undetermined amount of time I was shown so much compassion and treated so very well that I would like to make it a full-time home my dog's temperament has changed and it enjoys and just seems so much calmer here I watched them give a couple who were without a home a RV to stay in a few months to get on their feet they are very generous and kind people and they work diligently on getting everything back on track if you look at the positives and enjoy the scenic views and the peace and Sereness of the area you don't have time to be a hater

I visited almosr heaven with a friend who has been coming here almost every year. I had chance to visit it by myself and I loved it even more. Very quiet and peaceful. I did a weekend camp in the area and it was pretty cool. I hope to back again soon.

Our family and friends all have camp sites here. True it isnt a five star camp ground, however it is private, the owner is amazing and we have so many wonderful memories here and will continue. If you like the simple stress free experience, Almost Heaven is the place to come. If you think you are high class then best if you go pay thousands of dollars a year to follow a ton of rules that.take away from the entire country camping experience.

It is a very rustic campground. however the area that this campground sets in is very beautiful. the creek that is nearby the campground is crystal clear is extremely well stocked by many types of fish trout bass. there are a lot of things to do with your family and friends. when my family and I were up there we enjoyed ourselves we had stayed the weekend and this is the kind of camping that we enjoy not being attached to cell phones and computers and all the electronic devices. the campsites are huge. on our campsite we had 3/10 a shower / bathroom tent setup two large picnic tables and we were still able to park our vehicles which we had a total of 3 vehicles on our campsite. for the cost it was well worth it very inexpensive way of going camping however as tent campers we didn't have electrical outlet or anything like that and our campsite the bathrooms was within walking distance however there's only one bath house that actually had hot water hot running water. Our overall experience was excellent. also the people is what really made the experience even better the small little convenience store was well stocked and once again everybody that quote unquote worked at the campground were wonderful. we had 6 small children and our group and they had a blast. once again you will be roughing it at the campground.

From the moment we pulled down that long dirt road at Almost Heaven Campground, I knew I was faaaaaar from Heaven. Outside of the office was a lovely view of trash mounds, empty beer cans, and scenery similar to the movie, "The Hills have Eyes". The nice lady at the office provided us with our keys to our 2 cabins, but one cabin didn't have a key, so she proceeded to inform us that we would have to climb in through the window. We got to our cabins, and my life flashed before my eyes. There was mold everywhere, no running water, half drank water bottles, a marijuana roach on the table, beds that looked like someone pissed all over, and dirt EVERYWHERE. The bathroom was "under the office". That's probably where they kill you and keep your body parts. I cannot believe someone would have the audacity to charge someone money to stay there. YOU couldn't pay ME to stay here. This place is deplorable! I wonder if they call it Almost Heaven because it's the last place you are before they kill you and you reach heaven.Disgusting! DO NOT STAY HERE. They should really film a horror movie on this land.
