Anglers' Bay Cottages and Marina Introduce

For New York residents and outdoor enthusiasts, Anglers' Bay Cottages and Marina serves as a premier gateway to the natural splendor of Oneida Lake. Located on the serene north shore in Cleveland, NY, this family-owned and operated destination has been a staple for fishermen and vacationers for over forty years. The property is designed to offer a rustic yet comfortable lakeside experience, blending the charm of traditional Adirondack-style lodging with the functional necessities of a full-service marina. Whether you are seeking a quiet retreat to watch the sunset over the water or a high-energy fishing expedition, Anglers' Bay provides a welcoming environment that captures the authentic spirit of Central New York’s waterfront living.

The resort is widely recognized for its "customer-centric" philosophy, often highlighted by the personable service provided by the owners and staff. As a specialized fishing resort, it caters specifically to groups and families who value direct access to the water. The atmosphere is unpretentious and relaxed, emphasizing the "great outdoors" over luxury resort frills. With a commitment to continuous improvement, the owners have been progressively renovating the cottages to enhance the guest experience, ensuring that each stay is backed by modern conveniences while maintaining the cozy, unhurried pace that has made Oneida Lake a beloved destination for generations.

Location and accessibility are two of the primary reasons guests choose Anglers' Bay. Situated at 103 Drive 17 in Cleveland, NY, the cottages are nestled in a peaceful, somewhat rural setting that feels worlds away from the city, yet remains highly accessible. For those traveling from the Syracuse area, the drive is approximately 30 to 40 minutes, making it an ideal choice for both long-term vacations and shorter weekend breaks. The property is also strategically located for regional exploration; it is just 25 minutes from the world-renowned Salmon River and less than an hour from Lake Ontario, allowing dedicated anglers to visit three world-class fisheries in a single trip.

While the immediate surroundings offer a tranquil and secluded feel, local amenities are within easy reach. Small convenience stores and local eateries are located within a five-minute drive, and the vibrant activities of Sylvan Beach—including its historic amusement park and dining scene—are only ten minutes away. The layout of the property is designed to maximize the waterfront experience, with cottages positioned just steps from the shoreline. For those arriving with their own watercraft, the on-site boat launch and dockage facilities simplify the transition from the road to the lake, ensuring that more time is spent on the water and less on logistics.

Anglers' Bay Cottages and Marina provides a comprehensive suite of services that cater to the diverse needs of boaters, fishermen, and families. The goal is to provide a "one-stop shop" for everything required for a successful lake experience:

  • Full-service marina with a dedicated gas station offering fuel for both guests and transient boaters.
  • Comprehensive bait and tackle shop stocked with locally-specific gear chosen for Oneida Lake and the Salmon River.
  • A variety of boat rental options, including pontoon boats for families and specialized fishing boats for anglers.
  • Rental of non-motorized watercraft such as stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) and kayaks for exploring the quiet bays.
  • On-site dockage and transient slip rentals available for cottage guests and visiting boaters.
  • Professional fish cleaning station designed to help successful anglers prepare their catch for the journey home.
  • Dedicated guest support including local knowledge, dining suggestions, and fishing tips from the experienced staff.
  • Winter support for ice fishing enthusiasts, with select cottages remaining open through the colder months.

The features and highlights of Anglers' Bay are centered around the stunning views and the functional design of the accommodations. Each cottage has its own unique character and specialized features:

  • Direct waterfront access with unobstructed views of Oneida Lake from private decks and shared communal spaces.
  • Six distinct cottage layouts (Cottages A through F) ranging from cozy units for couples to larger multi-bedroom family retreats.
  • Fully equipped kitchens in every unit, including stoves, ovens, refrigerators, microwaves, and coffee makers for a self-sufficient stay.
  • Modern digital amenities including free high-speed WiFi and Smart TVs with streaming capabilities.
  • Outdoor recreational features such as private fire pits, charcoal grills, and a communal horseshoe pit.
  • Air conditioning and heating in renovated units to ensure comfort across all of New York's unpredictable seasons.
  • A private 100-foot aluminum dock that serves as a hub for swimming, sunbathing, and boat boarding.
  • Thoughtful touches like premium bedding and well-stocked kitchen supplies (pots, pans, silverware) provided in each rental.

For more information or to book a waterfront stay, guests are encouraged to reach out to the management team. Please note that during the peak summer months of June and July, larger cottages are typically reserved for full-week stays running Sunday to Sunday.

What is worth choosing about Anglers' Bay is the unparalleled combination of location and expertise. For those who are serious about fishing, the "local knowledge" provided by the on-site tackle shop is a significant advantage that big-box retailers simply cannot match. You aren't just renting a cabin; you are gaining access to forty years of insight into where the walleye are biting and which lures are working this week. Choosing this destination is also worth it for families who want a "safe and respectful" environment where kids can learn to fish and paddle in the shallow, protected waters of the bay.

Furthermore, the value of the "lakeside lifestyle" offered here is hard to overstate. Being able to walk out of your bedroom and onto a deck that sits just twenty feet from the water creates a level of relaxation that is difficult to find elsewhere in the region. The ongoing renovations mean that you can enjoy the classic lakeside aesthetic without sacrificing modern hygiene and comfort. Ultimately, Anglers' Bay Cottages and Marina is worth choosing because it delivers a genuine, high-quality New York experience—one where the views are expansive, the fishing is world-class, and the hospitality makes you feel like part of the family. It is a place where summer traditions are born and the beauty of Oneida Lake is celebrated every single day.

My wife, son, and I stayed here for the 2024 eclipse. The owner greeted us immediately on arrival and the cabin we rented was right on the water. The view is beautiful and there were things like a fire pit and horse shoes available. The owner gave us suggestions for where to eat, where to get firewood, and was generally very personable. The cabin itself was plenty of room for us (we rented cabin F) and there were ammeneties like microwave, stove, oven, coffee maker (with coffee available), toaster oven, plates, pans, pots, silverware. We were told that the cabin we stayed at was the last one to get renovations, which would begin later in the week, so I'm not sure my description of the furniture/carpet/etc. would be relevant for future visitors. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily visit again in the future.

If you have very low standards of cleanliness, then this place is for you. First, let me say that I work in hospitality and am very familiar with this industry, and this is one of the WORST lodging experiences I've ever had. My Dad accidentally booked 3 nights instead of 2, and when he asked for a refund on the third night, he was told no. I understand that it's a business and all, but it's not a big one, and we stayed during the week days which is very different than a weekend stay. A refund would have gone a long way with my father, who is over 70 and lives paycheck to paycheck. We stayed Aug 29-31, 2023 in Cottage F, which is the only cottage to NOT have been renovated. This would have been nice to know at the time of booking, but nothing on the website mentions this, and the owners never mentioned it either (even though there were updated cottages available). They should have offered us an upgrade at check-in, because Cottage F was abysmal. It was falling apart, the couch looked like it came from a frat house, one bedroom smelled like mold and that same bedroom didn't even have a window (which I'm pretty sure is illegal). On top of that, the cottage hadn't been cleaned in some time - cobwebs and dust everywhere, bugs in the ceiling light over my head (I slept in a top bunk), old corn husks in the oven, and the coffee maker still had old coffee in it which was covered in mold. Disgusting. When we told the owners about the filth and the mold, all they said was, "Oh." They never offered to clean it or anything. This was my first time visiting Oneida Lake and if I ever come back, I will find somewhere else to stay. Very disappointing.

We showed up the wrong week, the week before our reservations due to some confusion and failure to confirm the date on our part. We come every year but switched weeks a few years ago and forgot. Pete said he thinks he is full up and no room for our boats on the dock. We screwed up and now were scrambling to look for somewhere else. Long story short, Pete the owner burned up his phone to see if he could free up a couple cabins. He got us in and even offered to pull rental boats out to fit our boats. We had to change cabins and two of grabbed a days inn room one night till another cabin was available till the next night, then back in a cabin. I have been in sales and marketing my whole career and customer service is always paramount. Pete and his wife went out of their way and saved our trip! Now that kind of service is old school from this 61 year old retired businessman...5 stars. Stephen Sikorsky, Coventry RI

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very pleasant to be around. Glad they had a tackle shop, especially sweatshirts, idk why but it was in the 50s some of these morning and as it was the last week in July I didn't think to pack one. I also picked up a few bottom bouncers that I forgot at home. I thought the boats were in very good condition and very reasonably priced. My father and I had a great time and caught some decent fish as well.

We rented cottage A a few weeks back for a fishing weekend. We could not have had a better experience. Pete, thanks for the hospitality. You truely went above and beyond. We had a great weekend. Above average fishing cottage and the soon to be bar/restaurant, the docks, the tackle and bait shop were all amazing. Thanks for everything. Looking forward to next year.
