What makes Austin Campground worth choosing is the genuine heart and soul poured into the property by its owners. It is worth choosing because it offers an escape that feels both secluded and incredibly well-supported. You get the benefit of being in a remote mountain valley while enjoying facilities that are often described as cleaner and nicer than many people's homes. It is an ideal "home base" for exploring Potter County’s famous natural attractions, providing a quiet place to return to after a day of hiking the Grand Canyon or viewing the elk in Benezette. For the Pennsylvania local, it is a chance to experience the very best of our state's wilderness with the peace of mind that comes from top-tier hospitality.
Furthermore, the value of the experience lies in the small details—the warm greeting upon arrival, the sample of local coffee, or the well-maintained fire pits that are ready for an evening of storytelling. Whether you are planning a birthday weekend, a family reunion, or a solo photography trip to capture the stars, Austin Campground provides the infrastructure and the atmosphere to make those moments memorable. It is a place that many visitors find themselves returning to year after year, drawn back by the "magic" of the valley and the kindness of the hosts. For an authentic, high-quality, and deeply rejuvenating Pennsylvania outdoor experience, Austin Campground is an unsurpassed choice.

One of the best camping experiences we’ve ever had. The owner greeted as upon arrival and we immediately felt welcomed as though we were family. The sites are well maintained and the bathhouse is absolutely amazing. Doug, his wife, and family own and operate the campground and it’s clear that they put their heart and soul into each and every aspect of the campground. I highly recommend staying at the Austin Campground. We just returned home and are already planning our next visit.
My partner and I had the best experience here! Doug and Lynette are the most thoughtful, fun, most kindest hosts ever. They both worked extra hard to make sure my partner and I were comfortable and had a good time. You can tell they both really care. We both felt very lucky to have stumbled upon this campground for my birthday weekend. It’s tucked in the most beautiful valley and we were even able to see the Milky Way! We both plan on visiting them again and bringing loved ones to share the magic with us next time.Another thing I want to add— the shower and restroom facilities made our jaw drop. Heck, they were nicer than the ones we have back home! Super clean and heated. They were awesome to use after a long day outside. You’ll feel like you’re at a spa.Thank you Doug and Lynette ❤️ till next time!
Nice quiet campground nestled in the mountains. Our host was amazing, always checking to make sure everything was ok, or if we needed anything. This is a great place to sit around the camp fire and relax. Close to great trout fishing, hiking and Sinnemahoning state park, where you can picnic around the lake. Viewed elk each day within a mile of the campground. Awesome place, will definitely return for another great getaway.
First, I highly recommend this campsite to everyone.I'm a camping beginner and don't know many other places, but at least the owner here was extremely kind and the bathrooms were super clean. It makes me worry about going to other campsites. lolI think beginners can use this campsite with peace of mind.Actually, right before I left the site this time, my car battery died. A man staying nearby noticed immediately, told the owner, and got me help.He seemed to have left for somewhere else right after, so I couldn't thank him in person. So, I'd like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude. The owner also handled everything very kindly, without a single frown.Thank you so, so much.I will definitely come back here. Next time, in a warmer season. lolEveryone, please give it a try. You won't regret it!
After a full day of motorcycle trail riding, I rolled in late without a reservation hoping I could get a tent site. The office was closed but they have an after hours intercom, outside the office. As much as I hated to push that call button, I needed a hot shower and a place to bed down as the sun was about to set. The owner cheerfully answered the call button and came right over eager to help me. He set me up in a safe campsite near the shower house and brought me down a bundle of firewood and even set it up for me because he saw I was scrambling to get my tent up quick. Heck of a cool dude! The shower was spotless clean and the water was hot! The toilets were private and clean. The owners of this campground care and it shows! Highly recommend! Well cared for campground, beautiful location, smaller size so less noise and bathroom congestion (pretty much had it all to myself) and no hooligan activity normally experienced at most campgrounds. Sorry I didn’t take more or better photos but this one is my fire under the stars listening to two barred owls hooting back and forth under a full moon and bright stars.
