Choosing Back Bay Campground & Cottages is a decision to support a local, veteran-owned business that genuinely cares about the guest experience. What makes this place worth choosing is the personal touch that the staff provides. Real-world feedback highlights instances where owners have allowed guests to take boats out early to catch a sunset or have gone the extra mile to ensure a cottage was ready for a surprise family reunion. This level of care is rare in the hospitality industry today and adds immense value to your vacation.

Furthermore, the physical condition of the property is a major selling point. In a region where many campgrounds can feel dated, Back Bay keeps its facilities updated and tidy. The combination of full RV hookups (electric and sewer) and recently renovated cabins means you can enjoy the ruggedness of the North Country without the typical "roughing it" headaches. If you are looking for a spot that is perfect for unwinding, where the water is just steps from your door and the service feels like family, this Hammond gem is the ideal choice for your next New York outdoor adventure.

Finally, the versatility of the campground makes it a standout choice. It serves equally well as a quiet retreat for couples looking to see the sunset from a boat and as a bustling hub for a family vacation. The ease of payment through modern methods like NFC and the inclusive nature of the accessible entrance show a forward-thinking management style. My son rented a cottage here for a surprise reunion. We loved it. The owner was awesome and very accommodating. Secluded spot but close enough to everything. We rented a boat for the morning and she let us to take it out the night before so we could see the sunset from the lake. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed except sheets, pillows and covers. It was roomy and right on the lake. Perfect place to unwind. I recommend this place very highly.

This place is a joke. We were only 1 of 2 people camping here. I specifically asked for a waterfront spot so we could go on the dock and fish, as we have someone with a bad back that CANNOT do a lot of walking and stairs. We got the waterfront site but it is 70ft straight up. The only way to get to the water is to hike up and down 70 ft of stairs, very dangerous stairs! Many are soft or missing. If you have small children, don't rent the waterfront RV sites as there is nothing to preventing them from the 70 ft drop. So we paid the extra money for a golf cart to get to the main docks only to discover that the ride down to the main docks was on a gravel, pothole filled road, and not a path. Imagine that bouncing with a bad back! I also paid over $100 to dock our boat but had to leave it at the main dock to be able to access it. If you don't have a camper with a shower, be prepared to pay $2.00 for a 6 minute shower in a spider/ insect infested shower stall. Really? I paid over $400 for the week. I expect more than this. It was quiet and peaceful as we pretty much had the whole park to ourselves. But certainly not worth $400/week. A woman named Pam, in the main office, and her husband Randy were very sweet and helpful. Owner comes across as a bully. Not pleasant at all. Even the one day when she walked down to the end of the dock to see what we were doing. This was after she had stopped and inspected our boat. This was the female owner. I would have much rather have dealt with her husband Dave, but he was nowhere around for the 8 days when we were there.

The owners are amazing people, if you want to go on vacation to trash a place up, just stay home and trash your own place. Things to remember when vacationing any where. Use common sense, be mindful to others in the park, if you break something dont hide it or act like you did not know you did it. Be a big boy/girl and confess, we are all human. I have been going every year for the last 12+ years and wont stay any where else on the lake.
