Blue Rocks Family Campground Introduce

Blue Rocks Family Campground is a premier outdoor destination located in the heart of the Eastern Pennsylvania wilderness. Spanning over 125 acres of stunning forestland, this family-owned and operated park has been a local tradition since 1930. Nestled at the base of the Blue Mountain in Lenhartsville, it offers a perfect escape for those looking to reconnect with nature. The campground is best known for its namesake, the breathtaking Blue Rocks boulder field—a 15-acre expanse of glacial rocks that creates a unique and awe-inspiring landscape. Whether you are looking for a weekend getaway or a seasonal home away from home, the park provides a friendly community atmosphere where families can make lasting memories among mountain streams and towering trees.

Designed to cater to campers of all experience levels, Blue Rocks balances the ruggedness of the Pennsylvania woods with the comforts of a modern facility. The property is surrounded by miles of well-maintained trails that connect directly to the world-famous Appalachian Trail, making it a hiker's paradise. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted by a staff committed to maintaining a respectful and quiet environment. This dedication to quality is overseen by "Ranger Sue" and the Wood family, who ensure that the rules regarding noise and safety are upheld so that every guest can enjoy a peaceful stay. It is this combination of natural wonder and professional management that has earned the campground a loyal following among local Pennsylvania residents.

Location and accessibility are key components of the Blue Rocks experience. The campground is conveniently located at 341 Sousley Rd, Lenhartsville, PA 19534, USA, just a short drive from Interstate 78. This strategic positioning makes it easily accessible for visitors traveling from Allentown, Reading, or even Philadelphia. Despite its proximity to major routes, the park remains secluded and quiet. For those with mobility needs, the campground provides a wheelchair-accessible entrance and dedicated parking lots. The facilities also include wheelchair-accessible restrooms, ensuring that the beauty of the mountain is available to everyone. On-site parking is plentiful and free for guests, and the staff is knowledgeable in helping large RV rigs navigate the park’s winding, wooded roads.

Services offered at Blue Rocks Family Campground are comprehensive, designed to provide everything a camper might need without having to leave the property. These onsite services include:

  • Full-service general store stocked with groceries, ice, camping supplies, and official Blue Rocks gear.
  • Woody’s Filling Station, a snack bar and grill serving hot meals and treats throughout the weekend.
  • Modern restroom facilities with hot showers, maintained regularly for cleanliness and comfort.
  • Full hook-up RV sites featuring water, electricity (30 and 50 amp), and sewer connections.
  • On-site laundromat and sanitary dump stations for RV convenience.
  • LP gas sales and firewood delivery directly to your campsite.
  • Golf cart rentals for easy transportation throughout the sprawling 125-acre property.
  • Flexible payment options including credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments for all fees and store purchases.

The features and highlights of Blue Rocks make it one of the most unique campgrounds in the state. From geological wonders to family-friendly entertainment, the highlights include:

  • Direct access to the Appalachian Trail, including trails leading to the spectacular "Pinnacle" and "Pulpit Rock" overlooks.
  • A large, 40,000-gallon swimming pool and a separate kiddie pool for summer cooling.
  • A stocked fishing pond where children and adults can catch bass, catfish, and bluegill.

For more information or to book your next stay, you can reach the Blue Rocks Family Campground office directly. The physical address is 341 Sousley Rd, Lenhartsville, PA 19534, USA. To speak with the staff or inquire about seasonal site availability, call (610) 756-6366 or the mobile contact at +1 610-756-6366. Reservations are highly recommended, especially during the peak season from May through October and for holiday weekends.

What is worth choosing at Blue Rocks is the unparalleled access to both adventure and community. While many campgrounds offer sites to park an RV, few offer the chance to step out of your tent and onto a trail that leads to some of the most famous vistas in the Eastern United States. The boulder field itself is a natural phenomenon that must be seen to be believed, offering a "playground" of rocks that fascinates children and geologists alike. The park’s commitment to being "family-friendly" is not just a slogan; it is enforced through thoughtful quiet hours and a variety of scheduled activities like bingo and outdoor movies that keep the kids engaged and safe.

Furthermore, the infrastructure at Blue Rocks is tailored to modern needs without losing the rustic charm of a mountain retreat. The cleanliness of the bathhouses and the quality of the food at Woody’s are frequently cited by regulars as reasons they keep coming back. Whether you are looking for a primitive tent site tucked away in a secluded corner of the forest or a luxury cottage with a full kitchen, Blue Rocks offers a range of lodging that fits every budget. Choosing this campground means choosing a tradition of excellence that has been refined over nearly a century, ensuring that your time in the Pennsylvania outdoors is as comfortable as it is exciting.

My family LOVES BLUE ROCKS!! We camp at Blue Rocks whenever we can find the time. The other campers that we’ve met have always been friendly and respectful, the bathrooms/ showers are comfortable and well maintained. We hike the beautifully maintained and appropriately challenging trails that take you to lookout points on the Appalachian Trail- the blue trail is very doable and the yellow is more challenging (quite steep at times!) but worth it. Our kids are so proud, happy, and ready to chill by the time we return! In the summer, we hit up the pool and Woody’s restaurant and in the colder months we hang by our fire and usually get to know a neighbor. The playground and general store are available and well kept. The staff is always friendly and on task. We always feel like we are in nature and in friendly community. My only problem with Blue Rocks is that it has set a high bar that I can’t seem to find elsewhere!

Blue rocks is an amazing campground. It's a very unique place. It has a Boulder Field it has a giant glacier field as well as incredible hiking trails that ultimately connect to the Appalachian trail. One of the most family-friendly campgrounds around. Rangers Sue is vigilant and has no mercy for excess noise and unruly campers. The owners are also super friendly and helpful once they let me charge my dead battery in their automotive garage. We love this place so much we got a seasonal site.

We love staying at the Blue Rocks campground during Halloween time! Our kids love trick-or-treating and the costume contests. Everyone is so friendly! The camp sites are spread out perfectly - we can see other people but we still feel like we have our privacy. And the rocks are absolutely beautiful!!

I’ll unpack the pros and cons for you, but the bottom line is that there are much better campgrounds out there.Pros- the blue rocks formation is cool, the campground is located along a hiking trail that’s scenic at the top, the Arrowhead Point cottages were newer and clean, there is a nice spot for a group around the Arrowhead cottages.Cons- the campground has narrow, rocky dirt roads that aren’t well-marked for nighttime so it’s easy to get lost. Two cars can’t pass, so one has to pull over to the side which sometimes has a ditch where I damaged my car). The newer Arrowhead cabins have no stove and only a mini-fridge. The fishing hole is a puddle. The arcade is sad. Despite this, we laughed a lot and had a great time. We had such a great time that at 9:30 pm on a Saturday night, the park ranger came and told us we were too loud, when no one was near us and quiet time is 11 p.m.!!!! We will not be back.

My daughter's and I rent a cabin here at least once every year. This year twice. Prices are reasonable. Very family oriented. Lots to do for the kids. And good cat fishing in the pond! Haven't went anywhere else since we found blue rocks 15 or so years ago.
