Camp Overflow Introduce
For over sixty years, Camp Overflow has served as a premier destination for families seeking the quintessential Berkshire camping experience. Located on the picturesque shores of the Otis Reservoir in East Otis, Massachusetts, this third-generation family-owned and operated campground offers a rare blend of traditional rustic charm and essential modern conveniences. Originally established to accommodate the "overflow" of visitors to the nearby state park, it has since evolved into a beloved retreat that many Massachusetts residents consider their summer home. Whether you are looking to unplug and relax by the water or engage in the vibrant outdoor culture of Western Massachusetts, Camp Overflow provides a welcoming and professional environment for campers of all stripes.
The atmosphere at Camp Overflow is defined by its deep-rooted sense of community. Managed by the Morton family, the campground emphasizes a "simple life" philosophy, focusing on the natural beauty of the Berkshires rather than flashy, artificial amenities. This approach has fostered a loyal following, with third and fourth-generation campers returning each year to fish off the same docks their grandparents once did. As a proud LGBTQ+ friendly establishment, the park ensures that all guests feel safe and respected. From the friendly greetings of the staff at the camp store to the quiet evenings spent around a fire pit, every detail is designed to help families connect with nature and each other.

What is worth choosing
Choosing Camp Overflow is worth it for anyone who values an authentic, lakeside camping experience that prioritizes family connection over digital distraction. While many modern parks are "places people pass through," Camp Overflow is a "place people seek out." The most compelling reason to stay here is the unparalleled access to the Otis Reservoir. Having a private beach and marina just a short walk from your campsite allows for a seamless transition from morning coffee to an afternoon of boating or paddleboarding. The fact that the park offers boat rentals with motors makes the lake accessible even to those who don't own their own watercraft.
Furthermore, the professional and clean nature of the facilities makes it a standout in the Berkshires. Local reviews consistently praise the "super clean" restrooms and the helpful staff, which are critical factors for families traveling with children. It is particularly worth choosing if you appreciate a "seasonal" vibe where the neighbors are friendly and the atmosphere is tranquil. Whether you are a first-time camper or a seasoned RV enthusiast, the blend of natural Berkshire beauty, inclusive values, and reliable services makes Camp Overflow a top-tier choice for your next Massachusetts outdoor adventure. By choosing this historic family-run spot, you aren't just booking a site—you are becoming part of a sixty-year tradition of excellence in the Great Outdoors.
The peace of mind that comes with a well-run facility allows you to truly enjoy the "resident black bear" sightings and the excitement of a child catching their first fish off the dock. If you are looking for a place where you can slow down and enjoy the Berkshires the way they were meant to be experienced, Camp Overflow is the perfect destination.

A fun family owned campground that is mostly seasonal sites. I've stayed here with my family before. The best part is the lake access. The beach is small with a sandy area, and has a fair bit of grass around it.
We had a great time at the camp and lake. Cheryl and her staff were very nice. We even met the resident black bear! We hope to come back another time.
I went to use the bathroom amenities and when i opened the door there was a young child elbow deep in the sink washing her pet ferret. Shocked- i asked her if she was allowed to do that / ask for permission to which she said the people at the front desk don’t mind. When she left i went to the sink and there was ferret poop left in it. Totally unsanitary. The condition of the bathrooms / smell make it a 1 star stay for me. Id rather go in the woods to relieve myself when we stay at camp overflow.
1st time camping here and a great experience it was. The office personell along with the young guy that assisted us with a boat rental were all extremely polite. Seasonal campers always waving and made us feel welcome. Bathrooms clean and location to the resavoir is amazing. We got lucky and came on the weekend they celebrate the 4th with an amazing firework display. Only concern we had was the dump station. Our friends had a difficult time maneuvering their RV around the corner so we chose to not dump which isnt something we preferred to do. All in all, great camp ground and look forward to returning.
My family began camping at Camp Overflow when I was 7 years old. I am 64 now. We were seasonal campers. My mother and my sister, brother and I stayed throughout the summer while dad came up on weekends. Ray and Bea, the original owners, were great. We would spend all day at the beach and get snacks at the snack bar. It was a great experience. Once we kids got jobs and graduated, my parents continued seasonal camping until their health created issues for them. I see that things have gotten better there as the campground continues to expand. It was a great life all those years ago. I can only imagine how much better it has gotten.I hope COVID does not curtail the camping season.Enjoy Camp Overflow. We sure did!
