The centerpiece of the property is a private 10-acre freshwater lake, which provides a tranquil backdrop for many of the onsite activities and creates a peaceful atmosphere that defines the guest experience.
Owned and operated with a focus on hospitality, Chestnut Lake Campground has earned a reputation as a "best-kept secret" in the Northeast Pennsylvania region. The grounds are designed to accommodate a wide variety of camping styles, from those who prefer the simplicity of a tent under the stars to travelers in large, modern RVs. The facility remains operational year-round for certain site types, allowing visitors to enjoy the changing seasons of the Poconos, from the lush greenery of summer to the crisp air and vibrant colors of the autumn months. With its spacious sites and friendly staff, it has become a favorite destination for families seeking to reconnect with nature without sacrificing essential amenities.
Location and accessibility are major advantages for visitors to Chestnut Lake. Situated at 117 Chestnut Lake Road in Brodheadsville, the campground is easily reachable from major Pennsylvania hubs, sitting approximately 40 minutes from Allentown and 50 minutes from Scranton. Its proximity to Route 209 ensures that while the campground feels secluded, guests are only minutes away from local services, including supermarkets and restaurants. For guests with mobility considerations, the campground has implemented several accessibility features to ensure a comfortable stay. These include a wheelchair-accessible entrance, accessible parking lots, and specialized restroom facilities. The layout of the park is designed to be big-rig friendly, featuring wide roads and level sites that make navigation manageable for even the largest motorhomes.
The services offered at Chestnut Lake Campground are comprehensive, catering to the needs of diverse travelers. The staff is known for going the extra mile, often providing spotting assistance for backing RVs into sites and maintaining active communication with guests arriving late. Key services include:

For those ready to plan their next adventure, Chestnut Lake Campground can be contacted directly for reservations and site availability. The main office phone number is (570) 992-6179, and the physical address is 117 Chestnut Lake Rd, Brodheadsville, PA 18322, USA. Given its popularity during race weekends at the nearby Pocono Raceway and major holidays, early booking is highly recommended. The office team is available to answer questions regarding seasonal rates and specific site dimensions to ensure your equipment fits perfectly.
What is worth choosing about Chestnut Lake Campground is the sense of privacy and safety it affords its guests. Unlike more crowded, commercialized resorts, this campground offers exceptionally large sites—often up to 40' x 100'—which provide a level of seclusion that is increasingly rare. The ability to choose between waterfront tent sites and shaded, graveled RV pads allows for a customized experience. Furthermore, the campground's strategic location provides a "best of both worlds" scenario: you can enjoy a quiet morning fishing for largemouth bass or perch, and by the afternoon, find yourself at major local attractions like Dorney Park, Camelback Resort, or the Crossings Premium Outlets. For Pennsylvania residents looking for a reliable, clean, and family-centered outdoor home, Chestnut Lake Campground stands as a top-tier choice that honors the traditional spirit of camping.

Customer Reviews
Great find in the Poconos! We stayed over during a busy Poconos Raceway weekend to visit family in the area when all the other campgrounds we checked were fully booked. We fortunately got the last available site over the phone with Laura, who was very nice, and called several times afterwards to make sure we were OK as we got there late in the day. AAA discount saved us 10% over listed price. Our site (#100) was level, had fresh gravel, good water pressure and electric, and was shaded. The office sent someone to spot as I had to back into the site, which was super helpful (and ensured we were safe). Bathrooms were clean, had good water pressure and hot water even though the campground was full. Our dog loved walking around the lake which was very tranquil in the mornings & evenings. Front office was very friendly and offered help if we needed anything, which we didn’t, but it was nice to know we could ask. We felt very safe and even slept with the back of our van open to take advantage of the night breeze. Campground feels very secluded even though it’s only 2 stone throws away from Rt 209 where you can get every service imaginable including firewood. Will definitely consider coming back. Thank you for being great campground hosts!
Great place to stay! We stayed in a tent with a pavilion. The campground was super spacios and everyone else was far from us... plenty of privacy! They had a rec room with board games, fuseball table, and hand hockey... The kids had a blast! We enjoyed fishing! The playground is great!! Its huge! So much fun!
My fiance and I have been coming back for about four or five years now for their tent camping. We both love the campground! There are a ton of amenities like a playground for kids, a beach for swimming, spots to fish around the lake, boat rentals, a rec room, newly renovated bathrooms, the list goes on!! Wawa, Weis and the local town are only a few minutes away for convenience. The staff & others staying there are very friendly too.The only thing is that they used to let us camp around the lake, but the past few Memorial Day weekends they only let us tent kind of near the bathrooms on the edge of their field. I understand a few bad apples can ruin it for everyone, but it just sucks for those who have been coming for years - specifically for their remote feeling tent sites that aren't right next to someone else. I hope it will go back to the old way someday. We will very like be back in a few months for their rustic camping if it is available.Edit: We tried to come back for the rustic camping, but unfortunately we were told they don't have it. Between having the camp sites at the open field where there is no privacy, and no more rustic camping, I think it might unfortunately be time for us to find a different campsite. It was a great couple of years though, we had great memories there. If they ever go back to the way it used to be, we'll surely be back.
Dog friendly, playground is good. Bathrooms are clean. I didn’t like how they charge you extra for kids. I didn’t understand logic behind it. It is campground. You sleep in a camp. You use same fire pit and same table. It is crazy. Feel scammed
Beautiful campground. Lots of amenities for such a small place. The lake is very nice and the playground is really big. A dog park would be a nice added bonus, but it doesn't take away from here. The sites are very spacious as well. The staff, when checking in, were super friendly, and the maintenance staff are always around cleaning up and taking care of whatever needs fixing. We would definitely come back here again.
