Whether you are a local from Jefferson County or traveling from further across the Keystone State, the resort provides a welcoming entry point into the famous Pennsylvania Wilds.
What sets this establishment apart from typical campgrounds in the region is its diverse array of onsite services. Colors of the Forest is one of the few local resorts to feature an onsite bakery, a bar, and a restaurant/café, making it a hub of activity for guests who enjoy local flavors. The bakery is particularly famous among regulars for its fresh donuts and pastries, often cited as a highlight of the morning routine. The resort strikes a balance between the ruggedness of nature and the convenience of a resort, featuring a mix of year-round cabins, hotel-style rooms, and spacious RV sites. Its close proximity to the Clarion River and major state parks makes it a strategic base for outdoor enthusiasts who want to spend their days on the water and their evenings by a campfire.
Location and Accessibility are key advantages for visitors navigating the Clarington area. The resort is located at 374 Shiloh Lane, Clarington, PA 15828, placing it just two miles from the renowned Cook Forest State Park and approximately eight miles from Clear Creek State Park. This positioning allows guests to easily access the "Forest Cathedral" and the many canoeing and kayaking launch points along the Clarion River. The facility has been modernized to include a wheelchair-accessible entrance, an accessible parking lot, and accessible restrooms, ensuring that the beauty of the forest is reachable for all guests. The roads within the park are gravel-based, and while some sites require careful navigation for larger fifth-wheels or motorhomes, the staff is known for providing guidance to help guests settle in safely.

What is worth choosing at Colors of the Forest is the unique blend of a social atmosphere and forest seclusion. It is particularly worth choosing if you appreciate having high-quality food options like a fresh bakery and a restaurant right on the property, which is a rarity for most forest campgrounds. For families, the resort is worth choosing because of the sheer variety of activities; between the fishing pond, the hiking trails, and the proximity to Cook Forest, there is never a shortage of things to do. The "chalet" and cabin options are also worth considering for those who want a roof over their heads while still enjoying the rustic setting of the Pennsylvania woods.
Additionally, the resort is worth choosing for its community spirit. While some reviews mention the lively nature of the camp during busy weekends, many guests find this "screaming fun" to be part of the classic American summer camp experience. The presence of helpful staff who go out of their way to assist with difficult RV placements ensures that even when challenges arise—like a rainy arrival—guests are supported. If you are looking for a place where you can grab a world-class donut in the morning, hike through ancient pines in the afternoon, and share a drink with fellow travelers in the evening, Colors of the Forest RV Resort and Campground is a top-tier choice in the Clarington region.
In summary, Colors of the Forest RV Resort and Campground represents the heart of outdoor hospitality in the Pennsylvania Wilds. It honors the natural beauty of its 46-acre forest while providing the amenities that modern travelers expect. For a local New Yorker or a fellow Pennsylvanian, a trip to this resort is an opportunity to experience the best of the Clarington area in a friendly, professional, and scenic environment.

Excellent campground. Exceptional hosts. I liked the trail that loops back. The chalet was old and simple, but clean and no bugs which is all that matters to me. The bakery was a plus. Those chocolate frosted donuts was the biggest, softest, freshest donuts I ever ate in my life. There's a lot of activities here. The pond is cute. Plenty of fish! The bathhouse is small and old, a bit rough. But just what you need. About 2 miles from cook forest, close to everything. Will plan on staying here in the future.
Staff and location are good and that was about it. We arrived during a downpour of rain, and were told where our site was and the direction we were facing was correct to be able to back in… got to the site and nope, it wasn’t. Site was angled opposite of how we needed to be facing to get our fifth wheel in. A gentleman came out and assisted in guiding us over some grass and into an area we could use to turn around and back in correctly. There is a huge tree stump everyone kept hitting as you come around past the office. After it stopped raining Friday we had a small fire and there was a rowdy crowd yelling until 3am. At one point as we were outside, someone walked on the opposite site of our camper and truck, and there is literally nothing over there so that kinda freaked me out. Saturday also had a group in a cabin screaming half the night, not sure why everyone there likes to yell? It was an odd experience for sure. And I’m not talking just outside communicating and being loud, literally screaming. I had high hopes but was disappointed. Leaving Sunday I had to ask a couple to move their vehicle that was parked in front of the store/ restaurant because we couldn’t pull out passed it with the tree stump sticking up the way it was. This place has so much potential but definitely not there.
It's a very nice campground Nice wooded lots we had water and electric so we did not use their bath house or showers we showered in our camper we were the only ones in the camping loop for 5 days. We were very surprised no one else showed up even over the weekend. We bought some items from the bakery which were very good we wanted to eat in their restaurant but it wasn't open on Saturday night. The office was kind of hit or miss but the staff was friendly and the informative. The camp store had all the usual camping items you would expect but they also had a huge variety of specialty olive oils so if you're into cooking would be a nice place to check out. All in all it was a very enjoyable nice quiet 5-day camping trip.
Visited the Bakery and lounge. During Cooks forest annual Gingerbread tour, the is our second year stopping at the business and look forward to it each year, the staff in both the bakery and lounge made you feel so welcome and comfortable , the food was excellent and entertainment in the lounge was great . Kevin and Carla were our bar tenders for the visits and both had very big personalities that made them so enjoyable to be around, keep up the good job guys.
We had a great time camping at one of their non-electric, no water tent sites. The area is next to the seasonal rv section, but everyone was quiet. Everyone we encountered was friendly. It is a short walk to the bathroom/shower house, the appearance is about as rustic as what you’d expect from a typical campground, but was fairly clean. The campground host delivered firewood right to our site and even with the small bundle you get a ton of firewood.
