Conesus Lake Campground Introduce

Conesus Lake Campground stands as a cherished destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking a blend of adventure and relaxation in the Western New York region. For over 55 years, this family-owned and operated establishment has welcomed generations of campers to the eastern shores of Conesus Lake. Located just 30 miles south of Rochester, it serves as a gateway to the famous Finger Lakes region, offering a classic camping experience that ranges from rustic tenting to fully equipped modern lodging. The atmosphere is defined by a sense of nostalgic charm and friendly hospitality, making it a staple for those who value long-standing community traditions and a scenic natural backdrop.

The campground is designed to cater to a diverse array of visitors, from families with young children looking for a summer playground to seasoned anglers eager to test the waters of the "westernmost" Finger Lake. Because the park is built on a hillside, many sites afford beautiful views of the surrounding valley and the sparkling lake below. Whether you are looking for a weekend getaway or a seasonal home away from home, the environment encourages guests to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with nature through simple pleasures like campfires, lakefront sunsets, and forest walks.

Accessibility and location are major draws for New York residents. Situated at 5609 East Lake Road in the town of Conesus, the campground is easily accessible via New York State Route 15 or Route 20A, making it a convenient drive for locals and those traveling from nearby urban centers. Upon arrival, the facility offers dedicated on-site parking and has made significant efforts to ensure inclusivity. Visitors will find a wheelchair-accessible entrance, accessible parking lots, and modified restroom facilities, allowing guests with various mobility needs to enjoy the grounds. It is important to note that the terrain is notably steep in sections; to navigate the hills comfortably, many guests opt for golf cart rentals, which are readily available on-site.

The services offered at Conesus Lake Campground are comprehensive, aimed at providing a seamless "onsite" experience that minimizes the need to leave the property for essentials. The management understands the logistics of modern camping, ensuring that utility needs are met for various types of rigs. From a well-stocked camp store that offers supplies at fair prices to professional maintenance of common areas, the focus is on guest comfort and convenience.

  • Full-service RV camping with options for electric, sewer, and water hookups.
  • Dedicated tent sites for a more traditional and rustic outdoor experience.
  • A variety of rental accommodations including sleeping cabins, cottages, and rental trailers.
  • A well-stocked on-site camp store featuring groceries, camping gear, and souvenirs.
  • Clean and centrally located public restrooms and hot showers.
  • Laundromat facilities available for guest use during extended stays.
  • Watercraft rentals including kayaks, paddleboards, rowboats, and pontoon boats.
  • Convenient payment options accepting both credit and debit cards.

The highlights of a stay at Conesus Lake Campground often center around its robust list of features and activities. The facility is particularly well-regarded for being "good for kids," offering a variety of high-energy activities to keep younger campers entertained. For those who prefer a slower pace, the lakefront area provides a serene setting for fishing or simply watching the water. The combination of structured recreation and natural beauty ensures there is something for every type of traveler.

  • Heated indoor pool available from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
  • Recreational activity centers featuring a jump pad, Gaga ball pit, and ping pong.
  • Direct lake access located across the road with a private dock for fishing and boating.
  • A designated nature trail perfect for hiking and exploring local flora and fauna.
  • Kid-friendly hiking paths designed for easier navigation for smaller legs.
  • On-site playground and open spaces specifically curated for family picnics.
  • Disc golf course and basketball court for active sports enthusiasts.
  • Pet-friendly policies that welcome dogs, ensuring the whole family can travel together.

For those interested in booking a site or learning more about seasonal availability, the campground staff is known for their friendly and helpful demeanor. It is often recommended to call ahead for reservations, especially during peak summer months or holiday weekends, as the park is a popular choice for both transient travelers and long-term "permanent" residents. Contact information for the main office is as follows:

Address: 5609 E Lake Rd, Conesus Lake, NY 14435, USA

Mobile Phone: +1 585-346-2267

What makes Conesus Lake Campground particularly worth choosing is its deep-rooted history and commitment to a family atmosphere. There is a profound sense of continuity here; it is not uncommon to see families who have been visiting for decades, returning to the same spots and speaking with the same family owners. For a New York local, this level of stability offers a peace of mind that commercial, corporate-owned parks often lack. It is a place where "Grandma Betty" and the rest of the staff treat guests with a level of care that makes them feel like more than just a reservation number.

Furthermore, the location serves as an excellent basecamp for exploring the wider Finger Lakes region. While there is plenty to do on the property, you are also just a short drive away from iconic New York attractions like Letchworth State Park—often called the "Grand Canyon of the East"—as well as local wineries like Deer Run and family fun centers like Minnehan's. This versatility—being able to enjoy the serenity of the lake one hour and a world-class state park the next—is a major advantage. Whether you are looking for the quiet of a cabin in the woods or the community of an active RV park, Conesus Lake Campground provides a reliable, high-quality outdoor experience that captures the heart of New York camping.

Childhood vacation home to my husband who is now 67. We just visited yesterday, and found out that the owners are still the same family. If that doesn't say something! I was in awe seeing my husband speaking to them and talking about old times. And here we are now, renting a cabin on the lake. It really does my heart good seeing him so at peace.

Lot spaces were small and there are alot of "permanent" rvs. Some quite rundown. The hill is a killer, so you need to rent a golf cart. Our folding e-bikes couldn't cut the hill or the poor road conditions. Lake access is across the road.....again down the hill. Showers were clean but far apart. Staff was friendly and camp store was well stocked with fair prices. We stayed at one of only 3 "lower" spots.

Really cute campground. It is on a hill, but the sites are level. Bathrooms/showers are clean, friendly staff, and well stocked camp store. Right across from the lake with lake access. We will return here!
