Dingmans Campground Introduce

Dingmans Campground stands as one of the most beloved outdoor destinations for Pennsylvania residents and visitors alike. Nestled within the expansive 70,000-acre Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (DWGNRA), this 65-acre facility offers a uniquely rustic experience that prioritizes nature and tranquility. Known as the only developed campground on the Pennsylvania side of the park, it provides an essential home base for exploring the rugged beauty of the Pocono Mountains. Whether you are looking for a secluded spot in an old-growth forest, a grassy meadow site, or a premium location right on the banks of the Delaware River, Dingmans Campground offers a variety of settings to suit every preference. The atmosphere is deliberately peaceful, fostered by a "dry campground" policy that ensures a family-friendly and quiet environment for all guests.

The campground is currently managed by local enthusiasts who bring a passion for the outdoors and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service. With 134 campsites in total, the park caters to a wide spectrum of campers, from traditional tent enthusiasts to modern RV travelers. Visitors often describe the property as an "unplugged" sanctuary, where the lack of widespread cellular service and Wi-Fi encourages a true connection with the surrounding landscape. From the moment of check-in, where the upbeat staff provides detailed area maps and local insights, guests are treated to a professional yet friendly experience that has made staying here an annual tradition for many local families. It is a place where you can wake up to the sound of the river and spend your evenings under a canopy of stars, far removed from the noise of the city.

Location and accessibility are among the campground's greatest advantages. Situated at 1006 US-209 in Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania, the entrance is remarkably easy to find and provides direct access to the region's most famous landmarks. The campground is a short drive from the historic Dingmans Ferry Bridge, allowing for easy travel between the Pennsylvania and New Jersey sides of the recreation area. For those arriving with larger vehicles, the park offers spacious, level sites designed for easy maneuverability. Accessibility is a priority throughout the facility, featuring wheelchair-accessible entrances, a dedicated parking lot, and ADA-compliant restroom and shower buildings. Additionally, the famous 32-mile McDade Recreational Trail runs directly past the campground's front entrance, offering a multi-use path for hikers, bikers, and runners of all skill levels.

The services offered at Dingmans Campground are designed to enhance the rustic experience without overwhelming the natural setting. While the park maintains its "nature-first" identity, it provides essential infrastructure to ensure a comfortable stay. The on-site camp store, located in a charming log cabin-style building, is widely considered one of the best-stocked in the region, offering everything from fresh coffee and ice cream to essential camping gear and unique local merchandise. For RV owners, the park provides dedicated hookup sites and a central dump station, ensuring that the logistics of modern camping are handled with ease.

  • Rustic tent sites available in forested, meadow, and prime riverside locations.
  • RV-specific campsites equipped with 20, 30, and 50-amp electrical service and water hookups.
  • Clean and modern bathhouses featuring hot showers and well-maintained restroom facilities.
  • A comprehensive general store selling firewood, ice, propane, snacks, and camping supplies.
  • On-site livery services and boat launches for easy access to Delaware River paddling.
  • Bike rentals featuring Trek adult and child-sized gravel bikes for use on the McDade Trail.
  • Group campsites designed to accommodate larger parties of 20 to 40 people.

The features and highlights of Dingmans Campground make it a standout destination in the Poconos. Its proximity to some of the state's most iconic waterfalls, including Dingmans Falls (the second tallest in Pennsylvania) and Silverthread Falls, means world-class scenery is just a few minutes away. For those who enjoy water-based recreation, the campground serves as a hub for canoeing and kayaking, with the ability to "kayak in and out" directly from the riverside sites. The park is also known for its community-focused amenities, such as large open fields for sports and weekend outdoor movie nights that bring campers together under the night sky.

  • Direct riverfront access for fishing, paddling, and bird watching along the Delaware River.
  • Proximity to the Dingmans Falls Visitor Center and numerous scenic hiking trails.
  • Family-friendly recreation including beach volleyball, soccer goals, corn hole, and tetherball.

What is worth choosing about Dingmans Campground is the intentionality behind its "rustic" label. In an era of high-tech glamping, this facility chooses to provide a genuine outdoor experience that values silence, space, and the natural world. Choosing this campground means choosing to be in the heart of a National Recreation Area where the sounds of traffic are replaced by the sounds of the river. The "dry" policy is particularly worth noting for those seeking a safe and peaceful environment for children or a quiet retreat for themselves; it sets a tone of respect and tranquility that is often missing from more commercial parks.

Furthermore, the value of the location cannot be overstated. By staying at Dingmans, you are positioned perfectly between the northern and southern highlights of the park, reducing travel time and allowing you to spend more of your day on the trail or the water. The combination of clean, updated facilities, a well-stocked store, and a staff that truly loves the property makes this more than just a place to park an RV or pitch a tent—it is a community asset. Whether you are coming for the world-class fishing, the stunning waterfalls, or simply the chance to sit by a fire with your family, Dingmans Campground delivers an authentic Pennsylvania camping experience that earns its place as an annual tradition. It is a destination where the simplicity of the past meets the professional management of the present, creating the perfect environment for lasting memories.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Dingmans Campground over the weekend! The entire property was clean, well-maintained, and peaceful — exactly what I was hoping for. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The campsites were spacious with plenty of privacy, and the amenities (bathrooms, showers, etc.) were immaculate! The location is perfect — quiet at night but close enough to hiking trails and local attractions. I really appreciated how safe and family-friendly it felt. We especially loved the on-site camp store — we picked up some great merch and grabbed a few essentials we’d forgotten, so convenient!I’m already looking forward to coming back for another stay!

This campground exceeded all expectations..! Check-in was actually fun because the staff are so up-beat and engaging. The sites are roomy and well maintained. The Bathrooms are well kept and the camp store is very well stocked. This place (as a huge bonus) is a short drive to the Walpack Inn. After staying here for my 1st time I have declared the campground an annual tradition. Thank you to the staff & crew for making it nice. :0)

We booked site 131 as a smaller group hoping to have a peaceful but fun weekend in the woods. Online booking led us to believe that we would have some privacy in the site we chose. That couldn’t have been farther from the truth, we we basically had to “share” the campsite with 2-3 other groups of strangers (sites 129,130,132). All the adjacent sites were butted up against ours and even had walking paths through each site to get to the parking lot/main path.We can appreciate having a good time and staying up late but our neighbors went well past “quiet hours” and into the night carrying on (which with the close proximity made it hard to sleep). The camp store/check in facility was really nice and the woman who checked us in was super friendly and helpful. They also deliver wood right to your site which was nice.We did enjoy some hiking/fishing/biking on nearby trails and enjoyed the weather and scenery.I just wish the booking website was more up to date or accurate with photos of the campsites, as we definitely would have chosen a different one to stay in. For the price, it was not worth it in my opinion. If we go back to that area we will find another place to camp (more dispersed). Overall it was very clean and the roads were well maintained. If you’re looking for a more casual/party/big group campground this is the place for you.

I had an amazing experience with my mom! I felt super safe just the two of us. Everything was SO clean (like even the shower houses and portapotties - I’ve never seen them that clean) Location was perfect near a bunch of different hikes and waterfalls! There are campsite options on the water and in the woods, both were scenic! Hunter & Kayla who run the camp were so friendly and helpful! We will be back! Photos of our campsite, camp store, and water view. And photos of the 3 waterfalls we hiked too, all less than 10minutes from the grounds. I would and will recommend this place to all of my friends and family!

This campground is truly excellent! It’s run by hardworking and dedicated owners (local business) who clearly put so much care into everything they do. The bathrooms and showers were clean, and the store is impressively well stocked with all the essentials you might forget—and plenty more. Most importantly, the staff were incredibly helpful and thoughtful, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The river sites are absolutely stunning and perfect if you’re looking for breathtaking views. I highly recommend this campground!
