Dorset RV Park Introduce

For those living in or visiting the Green Mountain State, Dorset RV Park stands as a prime example of the quiet, community-focused lifestyle that defines Vermont. Located in the charming historic town of Dorset, this park offers a serene escape for both local residents and travelers seeking to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Southern Vermont. As a family-owned and operated destination, the park prioritizes a welcoming atmosphere where the cleanliness of the grounds and the friendliness of the neighbors are paramount. It serves as an ideal home base for those who want to experience the pastoral elegance of Dorset while enjoying the modern comforts of a well-maintained RV facility.

The park is characterized by its "no-frills" but high-quality approach to outdoor living. It caters to a harmonious mix of seasonal residents—who often treat their sites as second homes—and transient campers passing through for a weekend or a few weeks. This balance creates a stable, neighborhood-like environment where long-term campers are known for their hospitality toward newcomers. Unlike more commercialized resorts, Dorset RV Park maintains a rustic aesthetic with gravel roads and shaded, level sites that allow guests to feel truly "in the woods" while still having access to essential utilities. It is a place where quiet hours are respected and the focus is on relaxation and family connection.

Location and accessibility are two of the park's strongest suits. Situated at 1567 VT-30, Dorset, VT 05251, the park is positioned directly on Route 30, making it incredibly easy to find and navigate for those driving larger rigs. Its location is strategically placed just minutes away from the Dorset Village Green, famous for its historic marble buildings and independent shops. Furthermore, the park is only about six miles from Manchester Center, a hub for high-end outlet shopping, fine dining, and cultural attractions. For nature lovers, the proximity to the Emerald Lake State Park and the Dana L. Thompson Memorial Park ensures that expansive hiking trails and recreational sports facilities are always within a short drive. The park itself features a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, ensuring that guests with mobility needs can easily access the main office and common areas.

Dorset RV Park provides a comprehensive suite of onsite services designed to make every stay comfortable and convenient. Recognizing that modern RVers require more than just a patch of grass, the facility offers full hookup capabilities at many of its sites. This includes reliable electric, water, and sewer connections, allowing for a seamless living experience. The management takes great pride in the upkeep of their facilities, ensuring that the bathhouses and laundry areas are not only functional but exceptionally clean. For those who prefer to stay connected, the park offers Wi-Fi and cable TV access, though the natural valley setting provides a perfect excuse to disconnect if desired.

  • Full RV hookups including electric (30 and 50 amp options), water, and sewer.
  • Clean and modern bathhouses featuring hot showers and flush toilets.
  • Dedicated onsite laundry facilities equipped with multiple washers and dryers.
  • A fully stocked camp store providing ice, firewood, and essential camping supplies.
  • An onsite community center and game room featuring puzzles, books, and indoor activities.
  • Professional onsite services including LP gas refills and trailer storage options.
  • Secure on-site parking with additional spaces available for extra vehicles or visitors.

The features and highlights of Dorset RV Park extend beyond its infrastructure into the realm of community and recreation. One of the most cherished traditions at the park is the Sunday morning coffee and apple cider donuts, a local staple that brings campers together to start their day. For families, the playground provides a safe and engaging space for children to play, while the open green areas are perfect for congregate activities or a game of volleyball and horseshoes. The park is also notably pet-friendly, welcoming leashed dogs and providing plenty of room for morning walks through the shaded grounds. During the autumn months, the park transforms into a spectacular vantage point for viewing Vermont’s world-famous fall foliage, with the surrounding mountains displaying a vibrant palette of reds and golds.

  • Large, shaded, and level gravel sites that provide ample space for various RV sizes and slide-outs.
  • A dedicated playground and recreation area specifically designed to be good for kids.
  • Community-oriented events such as Saturday night bonfires, bingo nights, and potluck dinners.
  • Complementary coffee and fresh local apple cider donuts served every Sunday morning.
  • A "Rec Center" that serves as a hub for socializing, reading, or enjoying table games.
  • Proximity to the Dorset Marble Quarry, a popular local swimming hole and historic site.
  • Direct access to scenic gravel roads and nearby walking trails for morning exercise.

We stayed for two nights and enjoyed the quietness and location of the park. I spoke with a few other campers who had been there most of the season and learned there is a mix of seasonal and transient campers. The seasonal ones have some outdoor living spaces but nothing permanent which, in my opinion, keeps the campground more friendly appearing. The grounds are clean and the bath houses were as well. Not a 5 star on the bath houses but cleaner than many and well maintained. There is a good sized area for children to play and adults to congregate as well as a community center with games, puzzles, books etc.. There is no dog park but the Dana L Thompson Park is a few miles toward Manchester which is a large sports and walking complex. Other than the quick check-in I didn't speak with the owners but they have been there for quite a while and you can tell they run a good business. I would stay again. I hate to rate a 4/5 as it is a 4.5 for a solid, no frills, clean and comfortable location to stay.

We had a wonderful time staying at this RV park. The office couldn’t have been more helpful. Laundry facilities and bathrooms were well taken care of. We felt safe and all the campers were very kind. Dorset is a wonderful place to stay in Vermont. The Sunday coffee and apple cider donuts were the icing on the cake! Highly recommend!

Stayed two nights early September 2025.Site number 20 is almost level... Looked tight but our 43 ft class A with tow vehicle fit just fine. Good Wi-Fi. Quiet, lots of shade and chickens roaming around.

One of our top favorite campsites in the area and all over Vermont! We always tent and cook gourmet. Appreciate the water, quiet, and the neat facilities. We love the store/front desk and got to buy one of Sharon’s artworks, a local artist. Didn’t try the cabins.

Stayed one night while traveling thru, nice RV Park, spaces a little tight for us(40 ft 5th Wheel), but doable. Easy access, right off VT 30.
