Harpy Hollow Introduce
For New Yorkers seeking a genuine escape from the digital noise and fast-paced environment of city life, Harpy Hollow offers a sanctuary of peace and natural beauty. Located in the picturesque village of Odessa, New York, this unique 89-acre campground is more than just a place to pitch a tent; it is a dedicated space for "unplugging" and reconnecting with the environment. As a veteran-owned and women-owned business, Harpy Hollow prides itself on providing a welcoming, safe, and inclusive atmosphere for all travelers. Whether you are a solo adventurer looking for a quiet hideaway or a family eager to teach your children the joys of the great outdoors, this destination captures the rustic essence of the Finger Lakes region.
The property is characterized by its commitment to an off-grid philosophy. There is no electricity on the property, which significantly reduces light pollution and offers guests some of the most spectacular stargazing opportunities in the state. Surrounded by dense woodlands and bordering the expansive 900-acre Texas Hollow State Forest, the campground feels like a deep wilderness retreat despite being just minutes away from local attractions. The owners are frequently praised by visitors for their hospitality, often going above and beyond to ensure that every guest—from cross-country travelers to local bike campers—feels settled and comfortable in this "hidden gem" of Schuyler County.
Location and accessibility are major highlights for those visiting the Watkins Glen area. Harpy Hollow is situated at 3450 Texas Hollow Road in Odessa, NY, making it a perfect basecamp for exploring the Finger Lakes. It is approximately a 15-minute drive to the famous waterfalls of Watkins Glen State Park and the recreational offerings of Seneca Lake. Accessibility to the site is straightforward, with on-site parking available for guests. However, because the campground is located in a hollow, visitors should be aware that cell service is limited and intermittent, typically depending on your provider and elevation. This encourages a true "off-grid" experience, though local shops and Wi-Fi-enabled cafes in nearby Burdett are only a short drive away.

What is worth choosing about Harpy Hollow is the rare combination of a rugged, off-grid atmosphere with the "pampered" touches provided by the hosts. You can spend your day hiking challenging trails or visiting world-class wineries and return to a campsite that feels like your own private slice of the forest. Great little hideaway spot, peaceful and laid back. Stayed here only for 1 night while I was traveling cross country. It was gorgeous. Owner was super polite and helpful. Definitely plan on staying here again.
The owner was super accommodating and very helpful in securing us and our bikes a very last minute reservation during a bike camping trip. Beautiful little spot on a beautiful little road. Will return if I'm in the area!
Great place to camp! So dark and clear at night, and you can walk right into state/national first from there. Very clean, very competent staff.
Beautiful location. Can’t wait to go again.
