Lamb City Campground Introduce

For families and outdoor enthusiasts across the Bay State, Lamb City Campground serves as a premier destination for experiencing the natural beauty of North Central Massachusetts. Nestled in the quiet, wooded landscape of Phillipston, this family-owned and operated facility has been a staple of the local camping community for over 40 years. Spanning more than 70 acres of lush forest and open fields, the park offers a classic New England retreat that balances rustic charm with a wide array of resort-style amenities. Whether you are looking for a weekend tenting adventure, a comfortable stay in a rental cabin, or a permanent seasonal home for your RV, Lamb City provides a welcoming environment where memories are made under the canopy of the Mohawk Trail's starting point.

The atmosphere at Lamb City is vibrant and community-oriented, designed specifically to cater to those who enjoy an active and social camping lifestyle. With over 280 sites available, the park is large enough to offer diverse experiences—ranging from secluded, shaded spots for those seeking peace and quiet to high-energy areas near the recreational hubs. The management places a strong emphasis on family-friendly programming, hosting scheduled activities every weekend throughout the season. From fire truck rides and hayrides to live music and bingo, there is always something happening to keep both children and adults entertained. For many Massachusetts residents, it is the quintessential summer "home away from home," offering a sense of security and tradition that keeps generations of campers returning year after year.

Location and Accessibility are among the park's most significant advantages. Its position at the gateway of the historic Mohawk Trail—one of the most scenic drives in the United States—places guests within minutes of breathtaking views and local landmarks like Red Apple Farm. Accessibility is prioritized throughout the grounds; the park features wheelchair-accessible entrances, parking lots, and restrooms. The well-maintained roads and level sites are designed to accommodate a variety of vehicles, including large RVs up to 45 feet in length with 50-amp electrical requirements. This central location also offers quick access to the nearby towns of Athol, Templeton, and Gardner, providing plenty of options for local dining and shopping.

What is worth choosing at Lamb City Campground? For many, it is the unique "Safari Field" sites that offer the best value for large groups or those who enjoy a more social, open-field environment with 50-amp service. If you are looking for a more secluded experience, the "wooded back-in" sites offer the tranquility of nature with the convenience of full hookups. The park models are especially worth choosing for families who want the camping experience without owning an RV, as they provide full kitchens and bathrooms. Ultimately, choosing Lamb City is about choosing the experience; whether it's the thrill of the "Water Wars" during holiday weekends or the peacefulness of a morning hike to the Red Apple Farm, the park’s blend of nature and activity makes it a top choice for a Massachusetts getaway.

In summary, Lamb City Campground represents the heart of Massachusetts camping. By offering a wide range of accommodation types, exceptional recreational facilities, and a location that serves as a bridge between the city and the scenic Mohawk Trail, it provides a high-value escape for anyone looking to reconnect with family and the outdoors. Whether you are settling in for the full six-month season or just stopping by for a quiet weekend by the pond, you will find that Lamb City delivers a memorable and authentic New England camping experience.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Campground doesn’t clearly post policies prior to booking, accepts payment in full, then decides when and what policies to enforce as they see fit. They will deactivate your key card and lock you out from all your belongings while you’re actively trying to comply with the supposed policy. And rest assured, if they want you gone they’ll come up with some other thing you need or some other policy they didn’t mention before. It’s a moving target. They advertise as family friendly but everything is so dirty you can’t let small children down by themselves, even in the cabins. Years of cobwebs under the beds, despite a worker actively “cleaning” it when we arrived. Entire cabin pitched forward at an uncomfortable slope, bed frames so worn they dump you in the floor if you sit in the wrong spot. Absolutely no lights from cabins to see to get to the bathroom, which is not even on the same street. Bathrooms are absolutely filthy, covered in black mold, missing shower fixtures. It’s a campground, it’s not like we expected luxury. But when the cost is over $100 a night, I’d at least expect not to be harassed when I’m already being taken advantage of financially. The park is also NOT kid friendly, especially for special needs children who may have difficulty moderating volume. Even during the day, you and your children will be absolutely screamed at by both staff and patrons alike for enjoying the campground. We’ll be leaving early so as not to ruffle anymore feathers with our “dangerous” 7 year old fully vetted and trained dog, and we apologize for not having pristine records from her date of birth when we weren’t told we needed them prior to check in and are 13 hours away from her vet clinic, which is a low cost weekend clinic 🥴But hey, I guess they can charge even more when they rebook the holiday weekend now that we’re leaving!!

My family and I will never return to Lamb City Campground. The staff make up rules on the spot and clearly don’t like having kids around. They don’t even seem to know their own policies. When we checked in, they asked for proof of our dog’s rabies vaccine, so we got the receipt and presented it. Then, out of nowhere, they demanded a completely different shot record that has nothing to do with rabies. After giving them exactly what they asked for, they suddenly changed their requirements and acted like we were in the wrong. On top of that, I paid $20 for a key card, only for them to disable it and lock me and my child out of our own cabin. This also barred us from access to our controlled medications, which could easily be considered a serious legal issue.⚠️ Warning: If you have disabled family members, especially autistic children, stay far away. They made it clear they don’t want them in the park in any capacity. The whole experience was rude, confusing, and unwelcoming. Because of this, we ended up leaving a day early. If you’re looking for a family-friendly campground that actually knows what it’s doing, I suggest you look anywhere else.Horrible people, horrible policies – stay far away. Well, I guess they’ll be able to charge more for the holiday weekend.

Mostly seasonal sites, but they do have a number of transient sites available. We have a 40ft motorhome pulling a Jeep and we were able to access our site. Parked on the grass, but it was very firm. Rained for 2 days and there were very few puddles and no mud. Staff were very friendly.
