Malouf's Mountain Campground Introduce

For residents of New York seeking an authentic outdoor experience without the need for a cross-country trek, Malouf's Mountain Campground offers a unique and highly accessible retreat. Nestled in the scenic Highlands near Beacon, New York, this destination is specifically designed to cater to both seasoned woodsmen and city dwellers looking for their first taste of the wilderness. It functions as both a managed campground and a premier hiking area, bridging the gap between rugged nature and organized hospitality. The site has gained a dedicated following among New Yorkers who appreciate the ability to escape the urban sprawl and immerse themselves in the quiet beauty of the Hudson Valley.

The philosophy of Malouf's Mountain Campground centers on simplicity, cleanliness, and the joy of the trail. It is widely recognized for its "hike-in, hike-out" model, which encourages guests to engage physically with the landscape. Visitors often remark on the refreshing change of pace found here, noting that the atmosphere is distinct from the typical fast-paced lifestyle found in other parts of the state. It provides a sanctuary where you can disconnect from digital distractions and reconnect with nature, while still having the peace of mind that comes with professional oversight and well-maintained facilities. Whether you are planning a trip with siblings, a romantic getaway, or a weekend with friends, this campground offers a versatile environment that has prompted many guests to return season after season.

Location and accessibility are the standout features that make Malouf's Mountain Campground a favorite for those in the New York metropolitan area. Situated at Fishkill, Ridge Trail, Beacon, NY 12508, the campground is strategically located to be accessible by both car and public transportation. One of the most praised aspects of this site is its convenience for NYC commuters. Travelers can take the Metro-North Hudson Line to the Beacon station, where the campground provides a specialized shuttle service to bridge the gap between the train platform and the trailheads. This eliminates the primary barrier to camping for many city residents—the need for a personal vehicle.

For those who prefer to drive, on-site parking is available, providing a secure place to leave your vehicle before heading into the woods. The campground is located within the Fishkill Ridge area, a region known for its dramatic elevation changes and lush forest canopies. The accessibility of the site does not compromise its sense of seclusion; once you begin your hike toward the campsites, the sounds of the city are quickly replaced by the rustle of leaves and the calls of local wildlife. This proximity to major transit hubs combined with the deep-woods feel makes it one of the most logically situated outdoor destinations in the Hudson Valley region.

The services offered at Malouf's Mountain Campground are designed to simplify the camping process, making it an excellent choice for families and those who may not own an abundance of gear. The staff is known for being accommodating and hospitable, guiding guests from the moment of pickup at the train station to the final drop-off at the end of their stay. The campground takes pride in offering amenities that exceed the expectations of traditional "roughing it," ensuring a comfortable stay for all types of campers.

  • Shuttle transportation services specifically designed for commuters arriving via the Metro-North train station in Beacon.

I’ve done this with my sister a few times always have a great time looking to bring my girl next time and even 2 buddies You can leave your cell phones charging no one’s gonna steal them the bathrooms were much cleaner then I imagined it’s not a port a potty the staff is a bit different I heard one of them talking about me or two maybe but I have thick skin and i understand their whole way is so much different then other New Yorkers it’s like what you may expect from West Virginia but there accommodating I just wanted to be the 100th person to write a review and I’m giving it 5 stars because I’ve never regretted it not once I think it may have been 4 times.

Such an incredible experience and convenient for NYC commuters with the option to shuttle from the train station. The entire team was more than hospitable and welcoming from pick up to drop off. All three trails have great views and varying degrees of difficulty which is nice. Will continue returning and recommending this site. Can't wait to return this season.

Lovely mountain. Absolutely beautiful with the leaves changing. The owner and staff are super kind. Read the rules on the site. That's exactly what you're getting. We opted out of the long hike because we're out shape. Wish we had arrived earlier so we could take our time to take it and still arrive before dark. The basic campsites are small. My friends squeezed two tents on theirs but I was really happy we only had one on ours. We walked through the elevated sites and they seem worth it. If you have any reservations don't. Just call and ask em. Looking forward to going back.

A unique camping experience, if you enjoy hiking and gorgeous views.Note: Google wants me to rate this like a hotel, but it's a campground. As campgrounds go, it's great! Each site has a covered platform to pitch a tent with a gas burner and light. Water and firewood are included in the price. The owner picks you up from the Beacon train station, and brings your camping gear to your site while you hike. Several hiking options are available. We've done the 5 hour and 3 hour options. The views of the Hudson from the mountain top do not disappoint. The terrain can be tricky at times, so make sure to pack your hiking boots!

5 stars because I had an absolute blast, and so did my friends. There's room for improvement though. The website certainly didn't do the place justice. We all expected a slightly less genuine camping experience and thought the hike would be a walk in the park, but both expectations were blown out of the water. The campsite was beautiful and the hike was a legitimate fitness test. Yes, this is more of a pro than a con, but the website could use some sprucing up.The main shortcoming of the campground was the steep slope leading down to the bathhouse and vending area. My knees were doing just fine after our 3 hour hike, but got destroyed by the slope in the campground. It's really not very walkable, yet we had to walk it at least 2-3 times a day. I'd highly recommend either installing steps on the side of the path or relocating the bathhouse to the center of the campground, although I realize these are pretty tall asks.Aside from the above, I only have praises. The platform setup plus food delivery service made for a truly stress-free getaway for my group, who were largely amateur campers and just wanted to get away for a weekend without too much planning. A pure camping experience with no setup at all would've been out of question for us, but Malouf's made it possible to experience the same quality camping excursion. Views from the overlook on hike #2 were spectacular. And the food quality was also shockingly good; the steaks were amazing, after some well-timed BBQing.
