Neversink River Campgrounds Introduce

For those living in the fast-paced environment of the New York metropolitan area, the call of the wild often leads toward the rolling hills and rushing waters of the Catskill Mountains. Neversink River Campgrounds, located in the charming community of Woodbourne, New York, serves as a premier destination for those seeking an authentic outdoor experience. Spanning across a lush landscape that borders the historic Neversink River, this campground offers a unique opportunity to reconnect with nature while enjoying the comforts of a well-managed facility. Whether you are an experienced backpacker or a family looking for a weekend of riverside fun, Neversink provides a versatile setting that captures the "immaculate vibes" of the Sullivan County countryside.

The campground is set on a sprawling property that balances wooded privacy with open, social spaces. As a staple of the local camping scene, Neversink River Campgrounds is particularly famous for its direct access to the river, which is the birthplace of dry fly fishing in America. The atmosphere here is one of relaxed adventure; guests can spend their mornings hiking through pine-scented trails and their afternoons cooling off in the crystal-clear waters of the river. The community is welcoming to all types of campers, from those pitching traditional tents under the stars to travelers arriving in modern RVs equipped for long-term stays. The presence of friendly farm animals, including the resident goats, adds a touch of rustic charm that makes every visit feel like a true escape to the farm.

Location and accessibility are major highlights for New York residents. Situated at 192 Campground Rd, Woodbourne, NY 12788, the site is approximately a two-hour drive from New York City, making it one of the most accessible Catskill escapes for a quick weekend trip. The journey itself takes you through some of the state's most scenic bypasses, transitioning from the urban sprawl into the verdant landscapes of the Hudson Valley and finally into the heart of the mountains. The campground is also a convenient home base for exploring nearby attractions such as the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts—the site of the original 1969 Woodstock festival—and the Neversink Unique Area, which boasts spectacular gorges and waterfalls.

Neversink River Campgrounds is dedicated to providing a comprehensive set of services to ensure that your stay is as smooth as possible. The management understands that while people come for the nature, they appreciate the convenience of modern amenities. The services offered at the campground include:

  • Full-service RV sites featuring both water and electric hookups (30-amp and 50-amp options available).
  • Dedicated on-site parking for all guests, ensuring easy access to your specific campsite.
  • A well-stocked general store and cafe providing essentials, firewood, ice, and local treats.

  • Pet-friendly policies that allow you to bring your dogs along for the adventure.

Beyond the basic services, the campground is packed with features designed for entertainment and relaxation. From the "magical" summer swimming holes to organized recreational areas, there is never a dull moment. Key highlights of the Neversink experience include:

  • Direct river access for swimming, tubing, and world-class fly fishing.
  • A variety of kid-friendly hikes that are perfect for younger explorers.
  • A large swimming pool for those who prefer a more controlled environment than the river.
  • Modern recreational facilities including a jumping pillow, basketball courts, and volleyball.
  • The unique "Hammock Village" located right alongside the rushing water for ultimate relaxation.

Immaculate vibes up at Neversink. Went there for a couple nights in the summer and it was magical. The goats are awesome, the river is so nice to swim in. The people are super friendly. Would recommend 10/10 and will visit again one day.

We came memorial day weekend. After a long drive from buffalo new york we couldn't wait to just check in and set up our camp. The check in staff told us that they were going to get our go cart we rented so my husband left with the car to our site. They never found a go cart for me and apologized and said we would be refunded. This was a big game changer because we did not bring the kids bikes or scooters for the reason of renting a go cart. How can I book and pay for it then get here and you tell us you don't have one for our family. Mind you two go carts sat up front the first night of our stay so I went up to front desk again asking why can't we use one of those go carts. They lady replied those are reserved for people checking in today. So why didn't they let us use it the first night of our stay to accommodate us for the inconvenience they caused us. Our site had very high grass that hadn't been mowed in weeks and goose poop everywhere. I know that the poop was out of their control but it was just adding to an overall bad experience. The first night we stayed was awful there was people playing loud music till 3 am dogs fighting and barking that late as well it was so hard to fall asleep. I will not be returning to this place ever again but we're here for a couple more days so fingers crossed it goes better than the first night.

We rolled up just before 4th July weekend and they found a spot for us in the shade. It was perfect! Wasn’t a “rented rectangle” it was an area plenty big enough for a big rig, fire pit and picnic table (provided) Laundry, good hot showers, pool, plenty of firewood, awesome “river rapids” to walk to and in. Absolutely recommend this campground… people were friendly and helpful.Thank You

This was a great little camping spot. Tent sites are big...most with electric and water. Some sites have a Pavlovian. Cash only!!! Sites are around 38$ a night. Showers very clean. Pool was great... Life graurd on duty. The only reason i didn't give 5 stars was the last night we stayed some seasonal campers thought it was cool to party from 10pm to 7am all night music and loud people. I had a 6 hour drive the next morning with 1 hour sleep. I wish quite times were better enforced.

My husband and I was slated to stay here for a few nights and could not. As soon as we drove up, we both looked at each other with a resounding “NO”. The vibe here is far from peaceful and clean. The site looks run down. There were huge flies swarming our car! It’s pretty hard to make nature unattractive something this site sadly managed to accomplish. No thank you.
