Penn's Creek Campground Introduce

Penn's Creek Campground is a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking a peaceful retreat in the heart of Union County, Pennsylvania. Nestled along the banks of the historic Penn’s Creek, this campground offers a unique blend of natural beauty and essential modern conveniences. For residents of Pennsylvania looking for a local getaway, it provides a perfect "off-the-grid" atmosphere where the sounds of the creek and the surrounding forest take center stage. Whether you are an avid angler chasing the legendary Green Drake hatch or a family looking to introduce your children to the joys of the great outdoors, this Millmont treasure serves as an ideal home base.

The campground is characterized by its scenic waterfront locations and a relaxed, no-frills environment that encourages guests to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with nature. The property is well-maintained and provides a variety of ways to enjoy the limestone-rich waters of Penn’s Creek, which is widely regarded as one of the best wild trout streams in the Eastern United States. Visitors often praise the facility for its quiet atmosphere, noting that the spacious layouts allow for a sense of privacy that is often missing in larger, more commercialized resorts.

Location and accessibility are among the top reasons Pennsylvanians choose this spot. Situated at 7300 Creek Rd in Millmont, the campground is conveniently located for those traveling from across the state. It is approximately a 45-minute drive from State College and about an hour from Harrisburg, making it an accessible option for weekend trips. The entrance and facilities have been designed with accessibility in mind, featuring wheelchair-accessible parking, restrooms, and entrances to ensure that all members of the community can enjoy the landscape. While the road leading to the campground offers a scenic drive through the lush Pennsylvania countryside, it remains manageable for those towing larger RV rigs.

  • Full RV hookup sites including electric, sewer, and water connections.
  • Tent and small RV sites equipped with water and electricity for a more traditional experience.
  • Dedicated RV electric hookups supporting various amperage needs.
  • Clean and functional public restrooms and shower facilities for all paying guests.
  • On-site parking specifically designated for campers and their visitors.
  • Convenient payment options including the acceptance of debit cards for camping fees.
  • Pet-friendly policies that welcome dogs, allowing you to bring the whole family along.

The highlights of Penn's Creek Campground extend beyond just a place to park your trailer. The immediate access to the water is the standout feature, providing a "backyard" for activities like tubing, kayaking, and world-class fly fishing. Because the creek is a limestone stream, it maintains a stable temperature that supports a healthy population of wild brown and rainbow trout throughout the year. Beyond the water, the proximity to the Bald Eagle State Forest offers miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and wildlife viewing. For families, the on-site playground provides a safe and fun environment for children to play within sight of the campsites.

  • Prime waterfront campsites that allow you to fish or launch a tube directly from your site.
  • Excellent opportunities for fly fishing, particularly during the famous spring and summer hatches.
  • Proximity to local landmarks such as Woodward Cave and the Poe Paddy Trail.
  • A family-friendly playground area that is highly rated for keeping younger campers engaged.
  • ADA-compliant accessibility features, including restrooms and parking lots.
  • A quiet, wooded setting that minimizes noise from neighbors and traffic.
  • Close proximity to local Union County favorites like the Rusty Rail Brewing Company and various wineries.

If you are ready to plan your visit or have specific questions regarding site availability, the staff can be reached through multiple channels. The physical address is 7300 Creek Rd, Millmont, PA 17845, USA. For reservations or inquiries, you can contact the office via phone at (570) 274-5995. The mobile contact number is also +1 570-274-5995. It is recommended to book in advance, especially during the peak trout fishing season in May and June or during the vibrant autumn foliage months when the Pennsylvania mountains are at their most beautiful.

Choosing Penn's Creek Campground is worth it for those who value authenticity and nature over luxury resort gimmicks. While some larger parks offer arcade rooms and paved streets, this campground offers the true Pennsylvania experience: crackling campfires, clear starry nights, and the rhythmic flow of a world-famous trout stream. It is a place where "rustic" means functional and clean, and where the focus is on the environment around you. Many regular visitors choose this location specifically for the fishing access, as the "Class A" wild trout waters nearby provide a challenge and a reward that few other places in the state can match.

Furthermore, the campground’s commitment to being a family-oriented and pet-friendly space makes it a versatile choice. It strikes a balance between providing necessary infrastructure—like full RV hookups and accessible facilities—and maintaining the rugged charm of the Millmont area. Whether you are looking to spend your days wading in the creek or your evenings sitting by a fire ring with friends, Penn's Creek Campground provides the setting for a classic American camping trip that honors the natural heritage of the Keystone State.

We camped along the river had electric water and sewer at site. Booked online. Other campers friendly. Didn't notice who worked here, but clean camp ground. Great time flyfishing from site. Lots of rain this year so great water level on Penn's Creek.

I like this campground, this only issue I had was the campsites along the creek were prone to flooding. I was in campsite 44 and we had no protection from the high waters. No cell service so if you want to get away it's the place.

Campsite was right on water. Hook ups were all in good working condition. My only concern is there is no cell service. Not a big deal if f you are prepared but we were not. It should probably be mentioned on website. Even in nearest town cell service s spotty with Verizon. We could not access weather reports or maps. Unfortunately we have grown accustomed to having information at our fingertips. Bring a map, a cell booster or radio and unless you have Starlink make sure you download any important information or media you wish to play. We were there to fish so it wasn’t a big deal except weather reports and stream regulations.
