This expansive regional park provides a harmonious blend of rugged outdoor adventure and well-maintained amenities, making it a favorite for local families, fishing enthusiasts, and those looking to explore the natural beauty of the Potomac River shoreline. Customer Reviews
My grandson and I were visiting Washington DC, and stayed at one of the rustic cabins a few nights this week. We had a great visit. The cabin was comfy and in good repair. The bathhouse was clean and in good shape, with plenty of hot water. If you are a bicycle rider, bring your bikes. Plenty of miles to ride on.
Quiet campsite, suitable for fishing enthusiasts. fully equipped, nice hot shower 👍
This is a beautiful park with many amenities, and my wife and I enjoyed our stay here very much, we would be very happy to come back! Booking a campsite online was easy, as they had a clear map and description of the campsites, and even had pictures of each campsite too! That helped me choose what was probably the biggest primitive tent site they had, and it was a great site. Their primitive tent sites (no water or electric, but a fire pit and table) were $45 each, which is a little much for most campgrounds offering similar sites, but the campground/park offered so much it makes it a very enjoyable stay. We arrived later than their office was open on the first night, when it was totally dark, and they had a few streetlights along with clear signs and campsite numbers. It also wasn’t a problem for us to check in the next morning around 930. They have about five various trails around the entire park, and one was right next to our campsite and led down to the water where we could fish. I caught four largemouth bass in one location in about an hour, which was the most fish I’d caught in a while! They have a lot of beautiful common area in the park, especially down by the marina (which is just a popular launching site for boats). They rent out kayaks and canoes as well, and have a lot of waterfront to walk or fish. They also have a disc golf course, which I enjoyed very much, and was impressed with their tight-packed layout and how well it worked. Hole 12 gave me the most trouble, because of the hole diagram sign (very confusing haha). And the camp store had a couple essentials that we needed, and for good prices of course. Thanks for the hospitality Pohick Bay, we look forward to returning again!
Great little campground just a few minutes from town or base. RV’er’s are going to want reservations in advance. We were luck to get a power/water only site at the last minute. Poorly angled space (#40) for backing in a TT, but since the one across was empty, no issues. Comfort stations were nice, clean, and pretty close to all sites. Office staff was always friendly and helpful. Gift shop is stocked with the usual trinkets, shirts, stickers, and a few common use RV items. Playground is nice for the kids, water park in the summer, boat launch, and the disc golf was a nice surprise. Would absolutely stay here again.
Clean bathrooms is a must and they didn't disappoint. Also, the patrons might have been very nice about not bring slobs 😁 Can't say anything about the Gents side tho since I would probably get escorted out 😏 Anyhoo! This is my 'local park' so maybe I'm biased but it's not too big, it's not too small. The shelters are clean and affordable. A grill is attached to reach shelter for your grilling needs. If you can't or don't want to get a shelter, there's plenty of green space to lady out your blanket or hammock.... your own foldable table and camp chairs. I've seen people bring their own little Weber. There's a water park and mini golf within the park and a campground for RVers or the weekend tent enthusiasts. $8 entrance for non Fairfax County residents fyi.
