What is worth choosing when it comes to the Russell P. Letterman Campground? If you are an RV owner, the "Full Hookup" sites are exceptionally worth choosing for their value and ease of use. These sites are widely praised by local users for being so level that traditional leveling blocks are often unnecessary, allowing you to begin your vacation almost the moment you park. For families, the camping cottages and yurts are excellent choices, providing a solid roof and electric heat, which is particularly useful during the crisp Pennsylvania spring and autumn nights. These options allow you to enjoy the "cabin life" with easy access to the modern bathhouses.
Furthermore, the campground is worth choosing because of its strategic location. It offers a "best of both worlds" scenario: you are immersed in a quiet, natural environment where you can hear the wind through the hardwoods, yet you are only a few miles away from the pizza shops and small-town conveniences of Howard. The cleanliness of the facility—from the shower houses to the dish-washing stations—remains a consistent point of pride for the staff and a primary reason why local families return year after year. Whether you are looking for a base to explore the Susquehanna Valley or a quiet spot to watch the sun set over the reservoir, Russell P. Letterman Campground stands as one of the most reliable and beautiful camping options in Central Pennsylvania.

As for the campground its horrible! No seriously its amazing, and the sites are so level you practically don't need anything to set up, just park and thats it. The sites are spacious too. Shower house is clean and there's a wash sink out front for dishes if you tent. Lots of pet friendly site, Cabins and Yurts. Trails to walk and they are beautifully groomed and maintained. So don't go there, that way there will be a site open for me!Very close to historic Curtain Village, must see and self tours are free. Town of Howard is close by with nice pizza shop and a small restaurant. An ice cream shop right up the road - The Twin Kiss, ice cream and food also.
One of the best camping sites in the area. Clean and well maintained restrooms , wash area , showers are clean , camp sites are clean, as mentioned in website , safe , people are very friendly. Located near the road so you may hear road noise sometimes. Bonus of star gazing if you come here on clear sunny day, but keep it in mind the temperature along with the water body near makes a higher humidity. Neverthelss the location of the sites are absolute beauty. Staffs make sure the clean sites and people has to follow it 🙂. There are few shopping spots within couple of miles. But if you want WAL-MARt it is 15 from the campsite. For record we stayed in sycamore
We have come to love Bald Eagle State Park. It is a very friendly and quiet place to camp. Within a mile from the camping area is a nice boat launch with boat rental and a beach area with pavilions for group day use. The camping sites are large and well kept. You are not very close to your neighbor campers. And the bathroom/shower houses are kept immaculate by DCNR staff. There are maybe 12 sites with full hook-ups and many more with electricity only. And prices are very reasonable. Almost forgot to tell you, each pad is paved for easy use.
This is an excellent campground to relax at. While not being totally secluded in trees, you do still have trees around you with a little bit of shade offering you a nice woodsy feeling. The sites are fairly level and paved with a small Stone area, including a picnic table and fire ring. Like most state parks. This has been an enjoyable camping experience. It appears to be a well-maintained campground.
Our second time here and have to say it's a very nice campground with spacious sites. Would have given 5 stars if there was a little more shade. Could be brutal on a hot, sunny day. Very quite with nice rest rooms. We will be back!
