What is worth choosing about Silver Canoe Campground? For a Pennsylvania local, the campground is worth choosing for its authentic, family-run feel. Unlike corporate-owned parks, the personal touch of the owners is visible everywhere, from the cleanliness of the "Honey Bear" cabin to the well-kept gazebo where guests can even host weddings. It is also worth choosing for its extreme accessibility for larger vehicles; the spacious pull-thru sites and level ground make it a "must" for those who want a stress-free arrival. Furthermore, the pet-friendly policy—which notably does not hold breed restrictions against bully breeds—makes it a rare and welcoming diamond find for dog owners who want their whole family to participate in the adventure.
Additionally, the location near Keystone Lake and the Amish community of Smicksburg adds a layer of cultural charm that you won't find at every campground. Whether you are watching the horses of local Amish workers trot across the grounds or catching a stunning sunset over the water, Silver Canoe Campground provides a memorable outdoor experience that feels both private and connected to the heart of Pennsylvania. With its mix of quiet relaxation, kid-friendly hikes, and vibrant community activities, it is a destination that truly offers something for everyone, year after year.

Customer Reviews
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️We had a wonderful stay at Silver Canoe Campground! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. As newbies hauling a 63-foot truck and fifth wheel, we had no issues navigating through the campground or pulling into our site—it was very easy to get around. The campground is family-owned, clean, and has a beautiful pond that adds to the peaceful atmosphere. It was so quiet and relaxing. I chatted with the owner several times during our stay—he’s always out and about taking care of the property and was incredibly kind. The Amish are doing some work on the grounds, and it was really neat to watch their horses come and go throughout the day. It added such a charming touch to the whole experience. We’d absolutely stay here again!
Absolutely beautiful! Well maintained. You can see the years of hard work and dedication that has been invested into this campground with every step you take. Beautiful personal touch around every corner from the store to the cabins. My husband and I staying in the Honey Bear cabin, and it was clean and cozy! We will plan a future trip with the family! This is a must for anyone who wants to just simply relax.
I was in town for a local bike event and wanted something affordable for lodging. I decided to trailer my bike in town and camp. Silver Canoe had the better reviews for the area and great location for the for the event as well as central for the area to explore. Check-in was pleasant at the store that has a lot of the common items you may need if you forgot something. I camped at a tent site with electricity next to the bathrooms. The showers were clean and well lit. I had just enough space to maneuver my SUV and bike trailer for offload and loading of my bike, as well as park my vehicle and trailer at the site. Most of the sites have some privacy from the others for the most part. Ron the owner was very pleasant and great to talk with about the area if you are looking to get out and about for some views and attractions. I would just warn anyone on a bike that that the electric camp sites have a gravel road in and out, so be cognizant of that. I was also very impressed by the free wifi and its great signal. The free access is minimal for basic internet functions and I was able to watch some videos and handle a few data calls without issue.
The Silver Canoe Campground has by far become our favorite Campground to visit. The Family owned and run facility is super clean and the staff is amazing. Our 10 year old granddaughter loves it just as much as we do, be it going swimming ,fishing, playing in playground or just hanging out with the other kids in game room. The store is great.Wether you need fishing supplies a drink, hoagie or toys for the little one or a part for camper to get you thru the weekend..But by far our favorite is the ice-cream stand. A nightly run for a cone or milk shake is a must after dinner..Keep up the awesome work and we will be back soon..
We rented one of the Twin Bear "cabins" (B) and will never do so again. We paid $100/ night for Sunday night and Monday night and when I walked into it, it was smaller than my bedroom at home. There was a mini fridge with a freezer, a microwave, a table, an AC with no remote, and the bed. But, to be clear, the whole "cabin" was one, very small, room with these things in it.Aside from that, it's in no way good if you're looking for exposure to nature. Out our front window was another cabin (Baby Bear) so close that you can't step off the front porch. Out back was another cabin (Mother Bear) and an RV next to each other. Our fire pit was barely balanced on the edge of our driveway and was completely unusable. We've tent camped here before and it was alright but I'd never recommend anyone rent these cabins unless you want to feel like a sardine packed in with all of the other profits this campground pulls in during summer. I wish they'd give actual details about the cabins if they're going to charge this much for them but I guess then they couldn't trick people into paying hotel prices for a shed with a bed in it. I will say the person we dealt with at the general store was super pleasant and friendly!
