Staff City Cabins Introduce

Located in the rolling hills of southern Lancaster County, Staff City Cabins offer a unique and specialized camping experience within the historic Horseshoe Scout Reservation. Known to locals and the regional Scouting community as a premier destination for youth development and outdoor leadership, this facility provides a structured and comfortable alternative to traditional tent camping. For residents of Pennsylvania looking for a reliable and clean home base while exploring the Susquehanna Riverlands, Staff City Cabins represent a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern necessity. Originally established to support the dedicated staff that operates the legendary summer programs at Camp John H. Ware 3rd, these cabins are now a sought-after option for weekend groups and off-season retreats.

The atmosphere at Staff City is one of community and professional outdoor standards. Unlike commercial tourist traps, this site is deeply rooted in the values of the Boy Scouts of America, emphasizing safety, cleanliness, and a respectful connection to the environment. The cabins are situated in a quiet, wooded section of the camp, allowing visitors to enjoy the tranquility of the Pennsylvania woods while still being within walking distance of the camp's main activity hubs. Recent visitors have praised the facility for its exceptional maintenance and the sense of camaraderie fostered within the cabin rows, making it a top choice for those who want a quality experience without the complexities of a backcountry expedition.

Location and accessibility are two of the primary reasons Pennsylvania locals choose Staff City Cabins. Located at 239 Jubilee Road in Peach Bottom, PA 17563, the site is conveniently positioned near the Maryland border, making it a manageable drive from Philadelphia, Lancaster, or York. The entrance is marked by the main gateway of the Horseshoe Scout Reservation, and visitors are greeted by well-maintained gravel roads that lead directly to the heart of the "Staff City" area. This proximity to major regional roads allows guests to enjoy a secluded forest setting without having to navigate difficult terrain or unpaved backroads.

For those traveling with a significant amount of gear, the facility offers the added convenience of on-site parking. This feature is particularly appreciated by local families and group leaders who need easy access to their vehicles for supplies or emergency transitions. The layout of the cabin area is designed to be intuitive and accessible, ensuring that even those new to the campground can find their way to the dining hall, the pool, or the nearby hiking trails with ease. The strategic placement of these cabins ensures that while you are "away from it all," you are never more than a few minutes from the essential infrastructure of the camp.

The services offered at Staff City Cabins are tailored to provide a hassle-free and productive stay, particularly for those involved in group training or outdoor workshops. The management focuses on providing a clean, functional environment that allows guests to focus on their programs. Key services include:

What is worth choosing about Staff City Cabins is the absolute peace of mind they provide. In the world of Pennsylvania camping, finding a spot that is consistently described as "10/10" for cleanliness and comfort is a rarity. This is worth choosing because it eliminates the stressors of traditional tent camping—such as leaking rain flies or uneven ground—while still providing an authentic connection to the outdoors. For those who are part of the Scouting community or are invited guests, the cabins offer a "best-of-both-worlds" scenario where you can sleep in a secure, electrified building and wake up to the sounds of the Octoraro Creek and the wind in the hemlocks.

Furthermore, the cabins are worth choosing because of the heritage they represent. When you stay at Staff City, you are walking the same paths as generations of Pennsylvania Scouters who have built this reservation into one of the finest in the Northeast. The management’s focus on providing a space for those 14 and older ensures a more mature and focused environment, perfect for intensive training or meaningful reflection. Whether you are returning to a favorite bunk or visiting for the first time, Staff City Cabins provide a high-quality, professional, and genuinely memorable experience that honors the spirit of Pennsylvania’s wild spaces.

Can confirm with Josh Craig, I was in Little John as well. 10/10 would sleep there again. It was always clean, had electricity, and I had some amazing bunkmates. Would recommend if you are over the age of 14
