Thornbush Acres RV Park Introduce
For those seeking a genuine Adirondack escape, Thornbush Acres RV Park offers a unique blend of rustic charm and modern convenience. Nestled in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains in Indian Lake, New York, this family-owned and operated park is a sanctuary for travelers who value peace, quiet, and the natural beauty of the North Country. Known for its meticulously maintained grounds and exceptionally friendly service, the park serves as an ideal base camp for exploring the vast wilderness of Hamilton County. Whether you are a first-time camper or a seasoned road warrior, the welcoming atmosphere cultivated by the owners makes every guest feel like a member of the community.
Thornbush Acres is specifically designed to accommodate the needs of modern RVers while preserving the "old school" feel of a traditional woodland campground. The park is often cited by local users as one of the quietest and most peaceful locations in the region, offering a distinct departure from more crowded, high-traffic commercial resorts. With well-spaced sites and a canopy of mature trees, it provides the perfect environment for relaxation, birdwatching, or simply enjoying a campfire under the star-filled Adirondack sky. The commitment to a tranquil environment makes it a favorite for adults and families looking for a restful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Location and accessibility are among the park's most significant advantages. Situated at 211 Big Brook Rd, just a short distance from the hamlet of Indian Lake, the park is easily reachable via the scenic highways that wind through the Adirondacks. Indian Lake is famously known as the "Whitewater Capital of New York," and Thornbush Acres puts you right at the center of the action. The park features a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, ensuring that all visitors can navigate the facilities comfortably. For those traveling with larger rigs, the park is exceptionally easy to navigate, offering large pull-through sites that simplify the setup process.
The geographic positioning of Thornbush Acres is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. It is located in the middle of three major lakes and is within a 15-mile radius of eleven different bodies of water, providing endless opportunities for canoeing, fishing, and swimming. Furthermore, the park is a short drive from iconic Adirondack attractions such as the Adirondack Experience (The Museum on Blue Mountain Lake) and the Sagamore Great Camp. For hikers, the nearby trails range from leisurely walks to challenging climbs like Snowy Mountain, offering views that are among the best in New York State.

The highlights of Thornbush Acres RV Park revolve around its status as a "fisherman’s and hiker’s paradise." The park’s layout prioritizes the natural wooded setting, providing a level of privacy and shade that is often missing from newer RV developments. Guests frequently highlight the "level gravel sites" and the "impeccably clean" restrooms as standout features that enhance the overall camping experience. Additionally, the owner, George, is widely praised for his hands-on approach and willingness to go above and beyond to help guests, whether it's assisting with a hookup or providing local recommendations for the best hidden kayaking spots.

What is worth choosing when looking for a place to stay in the Indian Lake area? Thornbush Acres is worth choosing because it offers a rare combination of professional management and a deeply personal, small-town feel. While many campgrounds have transitioned to automated systems, the hosts here remain actively involved in ensuring your stay is seamless. Choosing this park means choosing a location where the facilities are "very clean," the neighbors are "lovely," and the environment is "the quietest and most peaceful" you may ever encounter.
Furthermore, the park’s infrastructure is a significant draw. The availability of 50-amp full hookups in a rustic setting allows you to enjoy the rugged outdoors without sacrificing the comforts of your RV. For first-time campers, the helpfulness of the staff and the cleanliness of the "wonderful hookups" provide a stress-free introduction to the lifestyle. For seasoned Adirondack visitors, the strategic location near Blue Mountain Lake and Long Lake makes it the ultimate "base camp" for a week of exploration. When you choose Thornbush Acres, you are choosing an authentic New York camping experience that prioritizes the quality of your stay above all else.

Great camping site! the owner George is extremely helpful and friendly. This was our first time here first time camping actually! the hook ups were wonderful. We were right next to the very clean facilities for bathing and toilet. The accompanying neighbors were lovely. I couldn’t recommend it more highly
Wonderful family owned park near the hamlet of Indian Lake. This has to be the quietest, most peaceful park we’ve ever been to. The sites are well spaced, ours was level gravel. This is a perfect place to get away and relax and a nice base camp for hiking or kayaking in the area.
Beautiful campground, super nice people! It IS cash or check so be prepared. We had to leave early in the morning when we went home, so we had George estimate what our electric may be and left him enough cash to cover it since he wouldn't be opening the office until 8A.Each site is wooded with enough space and gorgeous. All sites are pull-throughs which makes it so much easier! Bathrooms are really nice. The campground is close to town but you can't hear any car traffic at night.
Absolutely one of the nicest campgrounds we've ever been to! Great location with it being near Indian Lake and not too far from Blue Mountain and Long Lake, which are great little towns to visit. The sites have full hookups, and the owners take care to make sure you have what you need. Pet friendly too!
This is in response to Jason’s review…… I just have to completely disagree with your opinion. Apparently, Thornbush was not what you were looking for, but please be honest…… it is not a “trailer park”!!!!! We all have campers that are all less than 10 years old. No one has porches or decks built onto their campers or sheds. And since there is none of those things, there are no dilapidated properties! Thornbush only has 46 sites and we are not cramped at all…. not like other campgrounds. If you think we are cramped, check out Tall Pines near Sydney NY!Yes there is not a pool, a playground or even an arcade room. But that is the beauty of this park!!! It is clean, quiet and peaceful!!!!! That is what drew us to this campground for the last 7 years. And we drive a long way to be at this gorgeous place! Really sorry you didn’t give it an honest try….. actually your loss!!!!!
