Watkins Glen / Corning KOA Resort Introduce
The Watkins Glen / Corning KOA Resort stands as a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts and families looking to experience the natural splendor of New York’s Finger Lakes region. As a past "KOA Campground of the Year," this resort is designed to provide more than just a place to sleep; it offers a comprehensive vacation experience. Whether you are arriving with a massive luxury RV, planning a traditional tent camping trip, or looking for the comforts of a deluxe cabin, the resort caters to every level of camping preference. Its reputation for cleanliness and a high-energy atmosphere makes it a staple for local New Yorkers and travelers who frequent the area for its world-class wineries and breathtaking gorge trails.
The resort is uniquely structured to offer two distinct experiences: the main resort area, which is bustling with family-friendly activities, and the "Sunset Acres" section, which provides a more tranquil and luxury-oriented environment for touring RVers. This duality ensures that whether you are looking for a pirate-themed adventure with the kids or a quiet evening on a paved patio with a private gazebo, your needs are met. The staff emphasizes a community feel, often hosting themed weekends and movie nights that bring guests together, creating a vibrant social fabric that many campers return to year after year.
Location and accessibility are among the resort's strongest assets. Situated along the scenic Route 414, the campground serves as a perfect midpoint between the glass-making heritage of Corning and the dramatic waterfalls of Watkins Glen. The entrance is designed to be wheelchair accessible, featuring paved paths and accessible restrooms to ensure that all guests can enjoy the facilities. For those navigating with large rigs, the GPS address at 1710 KOA Drive provides a direct route that avoids the winding secondary roads often found in the rural Finger Lakes, making the arrival process as smooth as possible for even the most significant motorhomes.

The services offered at the Watkins Glen / Corning KOA Resort are expansive, reflecting its status as a full-service "Resort" within the KOA system. Onsite services are designed to minimize the need for guests to leave the grounds for essentials. From a well-stocked Kampstore to modern laundry facilities, the resort prioritizes convenience. For those who want to stay connected, the campground has recently upgraded its Wi-Fi infrastructure to support streaming and remote work, replacing traditional cable TV service with high-speed digital connectivity. The features and highlights of this resort are what truly set it apart from other campgrounds in the New York region. It is one of the few facilities in the state to boast both a large outdoor swimming pool and a 30x50 foot heated indoor pool and spa, making it a viable vacation spot even during the cooler shoulder seasons. For children, the resort is a literal playground, featuring massive structures and unique "Army truck" rides that tour the grounds. The "Sunset Acres" portion of the park offers a quieter, more upscale experience with spacious concrete pads and manicured landscaping for those who prefer a "glamping" style of RV travel.
- Dual Pools: A heated indoor pool and spa along with a large resort-style outdoor pool.
- "The Plunge": A giant waterslide that is a favorite for children and teenagers.
- Pirate Ship Playground: A gigantic, themed play area that provides hours of entertainment.
- Active Recreation: Includes a jumping pillow, jump pad, mini-golf, basketball court, and Gaga ball pit.
- Adventure Activities: Sluice mining, a rock climbing wall, and access to hiking trails within the campground property.
- Entertainment: Movie nights at the "Theater in the Woods" and scheduled group activities led by resort staff.
- Outdoor Living: Most sites include a fire ring for grilling, a picnic table, and some feature the signature KOA Patio®.
What is worth choosing at this resort often depends on your camping style, but the "Deluxe Cabins" are a standout for those who want a hotel-like experience in the woods, complete with full bathrooms and linens. For RVers, the "Sunset Acres" sites are highly recommended for their extra space and level concrete pads, which are particularly valuable given the hilly terrain of the Finger Lakes. The indoor pool is perhaps the most significant "worth choosing" factor, as it guarantees swimming time regardless of the unpredictable New York weather.
Furthermore, the resort’s location makes it a logical home base for race fans attending events at the Watkins Glen International racetrack, located just two miles away. While the resort can be a bustling environment on weekends, the professional management and clean facilities make it a reliable choice for families who want a vacation that is as active or as relaxing as they choose. If you are looking for a place where the kids are never bored and you are only minutes away from the best wineries on Seneca Lake, this KOA is an excellent investment in your vacation time. Would you like me to look up the schedule for the upcoming themed weekends or race events at the nearby track?

We had a wonderful stay! The campsites were clean, spacious, and private, which made for a really comfortable and relaxing experience. The campground offers lots of activities to keep everyone entertained, and the location couldn’t be better — it’s close to all the area’s attractions, making it easy to explore during the day and return to a peaceful site in the evening. Overall, a fantastic place to camp and one we would definitely come back to!
We have been coming to this campground for years and usually love it. The indoor pool is a great perk which is always so nice and clean. My kids love the playground. Unfortunately this year we requested a late check out and were told that they couldn’t accommodate it because our spot was booked that day… ok fine. The campground is wide open on a Sunday so we asked if we could pay a late check out fee and move our camper to an available spot. We won’t even plug in just need a spot to park the camper as we visit relatives for the afternoon. We were told they couldn’t do this and we would need to pay $140 for another night. Thankful for the wineries around this KOA that are much more accommodating and allowed us to park our camper for free for the afternoon since this campground wouldn’t take our late check out money. Train your staff better. They are losing you money and customers!
My son and I stayed here while doing some motorcycling in the finger lakes area. The staff was great ! The facilities were very clean and the tent site was quite nice. The only negative was the fact they allowed people to party, very loud, at one of the camper cabins close by till at least 11pm every night we were there. I would stay again if I'm in the area. Just bring ear plugs. :-)
I didn’t love it. I didn’t hate it. PROS: things to do with the kids. Relaxed atmosphere. Kid friendly. Great internet service!! CONS: Sites are TIGHT and no shade. Dog park is not fenced in. Our site was not level and semi dangerous. Part of the ground was missing off of the patio making it easy to lose your footing which was right by the campfire. Several near misses tripping.
We stayed in the back of the grounds in a premium lot. Extremely clean pad and very easy to get into. The pad was flat and geared towards a quick and easy setup. The patio, swing, table/chairs were a very nice touch. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful! Will definitely stay again when we come to the finger lakes.
