West River Camperama Introduce

For those who call Vermont home, the arrival of spring signifies more than just a change in weather; it marks the beginning of the highly anticipated camping season. Tucked away in the picturesque West River Valley, West River Camperama stands as a premier destination for local residents seeking a authentic Green Mountain getaway. This expansive 40-acre private campground in Townshend combines the rustic charm of the Vermont wilderness with the essential comforts that modern travelers expect. Whether you are looking for a seasonal site to enjoy all summer long or a quiet weekend by the water, this park provides a welcoming atmosphere where the pace of life slows down to the speed of the river.

West River Camperama is uniquely positioned as a family-centric community. It is a place where traditions are born—where the sounds of children playing on the swings mingle with the gentle flow of the West River. The campground is meticulously maintained, with a professional management team that prioritizes cleanliness and a friendly neighborly vibe. It serves as an ideal base for exploring the Southern Vermont region, while also offering enough on-site recreation to keep every member of the family entertained. From morning coffee by the riverbank to evening hayrides under the stars, the Camperama experience is defined by the simple joys of outdoor living in the heart of Windham County.

Location and accessibility are among the top reasons Vermont locals choose West River Camperama. Situated at 192 Depot Rd, Townshend, VT 05353, the campground is easily reached via Route 30, one of the state's most scenic corridors. For residents in Brattleboro, the drive is a mere 20 minutes, while those coming from the Manchester or Stratton areas will find the journey equally convenient. The entrance and main parking areas are designed for ease of use, featuring wheelchair-accessible entrances and a wheelchair-accessible parking lot to ensure all guests can navigate the facility comfortably.

The campground’s proximity to local attractions adds another layer of value to its location. It sits just minutes away from Townshend State Forest and the Townshend Dam Recreation Area, offering even more opportunities for hiking and sightseeing. For those who need to restock on supplies or fancy a local meal, the charming town centers of Townshend and Newfane are just a short drive away. Despite this convenience, the park itself remains a secluded sanctuary, shielded from road noise by dense Vermont forest and the winding path of the river, providing the perfect balance of accessibility and tranquility.

West River Camperama is well-equipped to handle both traditional tent campers and modern RV enthusiasts. The services offered are comprehensive, ensuring that your stay is as stress-free as possible. The management provides a range of onsite services tailored to the needs of the camping community, including:

  • Full RV camping accommodations with 30-amp electric hookups.

The highlights of the park are what truly define the "Camperama" lifestyle. With over 2,000 feet of frontage on the West River, the water is the heart of the experience. Guests often spend their days floating downstream or trying their luck at fishing. Beyond the natural beauty, the park features a variety of amenities and activities designed for community engagement:

  • A large, heated swimming pool that serves as a central hub for summer relaxation.
  • Extensive river access perfect for tubing, kayaking, and catch-and-release fishing for trout and smallmouth bass.
  • A fully equipped playground and swing sets, making the park a favorite destination for families with children.
  • A large recreation hall that hosts weekend activities like bingo, ice cream socials, and community tournaments.
  • Sporting facilities including five horseshoe pits, a basketball court, and shuffleboard areas.
  • Weekly hayrides, typically held on Saturday afternoons, which have become a beloved tradition for younger campers.
  • A pet-friendly environment where well-behaved dogs are welcomed to join the family adventure.
  • Picnic tables provided at each site, encouraging outdoor dining and shared meals under the trees.

For those interested in booking a stay or inquiring about seasonal site availability, the management can be reached through their local office. The park typically operates from mid-May through mid-October, capturing the best of the Vermont spring, summer, and foliage seasons.
