What is worth choosing when it comes to 1000 Islands Campground? For many, it is the perfect balance of a professionally managed facility and the warmth of a small, privately owned business. It is worth choosing for the family who wants a safe, engaging environment for their children, or for the traveler who prioritizes a "beautifully manicured" property where every detail is attended to. We almost booked another campground up the road after reading one particular review, but we decided to try Thousand Islands Campground—and I’m SO glad we did! We’re a full-time traveling family of five (plus a dog) in a 40' fifth wheel, and we’ve learned that smaller, privately owned campgrounds are often better. From the moment we pulled in, we knew we’d made the right choice. The sites are level and spacious, full hookups are provided, and the playground was a huge hit with our kids (5 stars!). A short “secret” trail leads to the neighboring state park beach, and the campground even has a state park pass you can borrow to skip the entry fees to the many other parks nearby. What truly set this stay apart, though, were the people. Manager Maria and camp hosts Bob and LeeAnn went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They engaged with our kids (something we deeply value), shared pages of notes on local places to explore, and made our stay feel like home. Compared to the newer, more “resort-style” campground nearby, Thousand Islands Campground is beautifully established, with mature trees and a warm, personal touch. If you value hospitality, community, and a charming, well-kept property, you’ll be very well taken care of here.

For some you may not like the sites because they are narrow and long so there is no privacy. Your neighbors camper on one side or grassy patch on the other side is literally right next to your camper and grass patch. Hopefully you have quiet neighbors. I'm used to wooded campsites.Full hookup is nice. Especially for the price.Sites are hard gravel and flat within an inch or two.Firewood is on site.Ice is a 3 min walk to the front.Roadway is gravel and narrow. Please go SLOW.Despite the narrow sites we had amazing hosts and camping residents!Nearby...Plenty of ice, food, snacks and ice cream WALKING DISTANCE !Places to get anything you may have forgotten to bring are a 5 min drive away.Alexandria Bay is close.Fishing I believe is nearby.Places to bike and walk are accessible by walking/riding off site.Lots of people use bikes, e bikes and golf carts to go down the road a bit so be mindful on the roadsThe pub/restaurant next door is AMAZING.Even though we do not like the small sites we will come back to this campground.
