Acorn Campground Introduce
Acorn Campground stands as a cherished destination for those looking to experience the authentic charm of the Jersey Shore without the hustle and bustle of the immediate boardwalk area. Located in the quiet community of Green Creek within Cape May County, this sprawling 50-acre facility offers a serene escape under a canopy of mature oak trees. For decades, it has served as a home away from home for families throughout the Tri-State area, offering a blend of traditional camping and modern RV conveniences. Whether you are a seasonal resident or a weekend traveler, the atmosphere at Acorn is designed to foster a sense of community, where neighbors become friends and children can explore in a safe, nature-focused environment.
The campground is uniquely positioned to offer the best of both worlds: the peace of the South Jersey woodlands and the excitement of world-class beaches. With over 300 spacious sites, the park caters primarily to RV enthusiasts but also maintains dedicated spaces for traditional tent camping. The layout is thoughtfully designed to provide privacy while ensuring that common amenities are never more than a short stroll away. From the laughter at the playground to the splash of the swimming pools, the facility buzzes with the energy of a classic American summer. Local residents in New Jersey value the park for its straightforward, family-oriented approach and its proximity to the historic attractions that define the Cape May peninsula.
Location and accessibility are two of the strongest attributes of Acorn Campground. Situated at 419 NJ-47 South, it sits directly on a major artery that connects the inland regions to the coastal resorts. For New Jersey locals, this means avoiding much of the gridlock often found on the Garden State Parkway during peak summer weekends. The campground is approximately 10 to 15 minutes away from the famous Wildwood boardwalks and the pristine, white-sand beaches of Stone Harbor and Avalon. This strategic location allows guests to spend their days enjoying the Atlantic Ocean and their evenings relaxing in a quiet, wooded setting. Furthermore, the campground has made significant efforts to remain inclusive, offering a wheelchair-accessible entrance, accessible parking lots, and modified restroom facilities to ensure all guests can enjoy their stay comfortably.
The services offered at Acorn Campground are comprehensive, aimed at providing a seamless experience for modern campers. Understanding that the needs of today's travelers go beyond just a patch of grass, the management provides a variety of on-site services to handle the logistics of your stay. The professional staff is known for being kind and helpful, often responding to maintenance requests, such as electrical issues, within minutes. Payment is made easy with multiple modern options, and the inclusion of full-hookup sites means you can enjoy all the comforts of home while parked in the woods. Specific services include:
- Full-hookup RV sites featuring 30 and 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections.
- On-site convenience store stocked with groceries, ice, firewood, and camping essentials.
- Modern laundry facilities equipped with multiple washers and dryers for long-term guests.
- Clean bathhouses featuring hot showers and flush toilets.
- Reliable security presence on the premises to ensure a safe environment for all families.
- NFC mobile payments, credit cards, and debit cards accepted for all camping fees and store purchases.
- A dedicated on-site staff available for immediate assistance with site-related issues or general inquiries.
- Free on-site parking for guests and additional vehicles.
Features and highlights are what truly make a stay at Acorn Campground memorable. The facility is packed with recreational opportunities that cater to every age group. For many, the centerpiece of the summer experience is the dual swimming pool complex, which provides a refreshing break from the humidity. For those who prefer land-based activities, the park offers classic campground fun ranging from competitive games to quiet nature walks. The community is also famously pet-friendly, recognizing that dogs are an integral part of many families. Highlights that guests can look forward to include:
- Two large outdoor swimming pools with ample lounging areas for sunbathing.
- A dedicated dog park and pet-friendly trails, allowing four-legged friends to run off-leash in a safe area.
- Two scenic fishing ponds perfect for catch-and-release angling and observing local wildlife.
- Expansive playgrounds featuring slides, swings, and climbing structures for children.

What is worth choosing about Acorn Campground is the undeniable value and the sense of nostalgia it provides. In an era where many coastal resorts have become prohibitively expensive, Acorn remains an affordable way for families to experience the beauty of Cape May County. It is a place that rewards those who give it a chance, as many reviewers have noted that the "good outweighs the bad." The proximity to Wildwood and the plethora of nearby restaurants make it a convenient base of operations for a Jersey Shore vacation. When you choose Acorn, you aren't just choosing a place to park your RV; you are choosing a community where the staff genuinely cares about your experience and where the natural beauty of the South Jersey landscape is always the star of the show. Whether you are there to see the July 4th fireworks or just to enjoy a quiet weekend by the pool, Acorn Campground provides the space and the amenities to make those memories last.

Customer Reviews
I saw all the bad reviews and canceled my first time I booked. The next day me and my wife decided that we should give it a shot and I’m glad we did. I honestly loved it there. The pool is open and it’s really nice, the location is 10 minutes from Wildwood and there’s a bunch of restaurants around going towards the beach. We had an issue with our breaker the first night and it took them 15 minutes to help us out. The employees are so kind and helpful and that’s very important to us. For the negatives, there’s only Wi-Fi in the lobby, some of the arcade machines are down, and the shower area can use a really good scrubbing. Honestly, the good weigh out the bad and we will definitely be coming back many times in the future.
The campground is located on a great overlook mountain range. July 4th camping here was excellent to see the fireworks in towns below. The johns (porta potties) were clean and didn't smell at all. Just note no electric or running water which wasn't a problem for us as we were prepared with battery sources and water jugs. The sites were well maintained too.We enjoyed our wkend here amd would come back anytime. Plenty to do in the area.
Would never stay here again. The pool is not open for the summer and we were not informed of this. They advertise 2 playgrounds and there is only 1. The roads have potholes all over, couldn’t even ride my bike. The gate is constantly up so anyone could come in. The bathrooms are filthy. The fishing ponds are overgrown. Mosquitoes and tics everywhere. They definitely need to spray. The manager never addresses any issues. Don’t waste your money here!!
The staff is friendly enough here, but what they won't tell you is they will require a $100 deposit so that you leave with the campsite clean, and an additional $25 deposit for the gate! If you are a Thousand Trails member you cannot make another reservation until that hold is cleared. Nowhere on their website or when you walk in is this type of deposit noted. And it's odd anyway, because if you could see the condition of the transient sites to begin with they are obviously not groomed and the trees are not properly trimmed. I scratched the side of my motorhome trying to extract myself from the very tight site they had put me in.
3rd year as a seasonal resident here and I couldn’t be more disappointed with the property management company that owns the place. This is the 3rd year in a row that we haven’t had a pool open when it’s supposed to be. This year it appears like we won’t have one all summer. And the management here is trying to blame the delay on us, for questioning the township about permits. It’s poorly lit coking from the street. Dangerous pulling in when towing. The roads are in horrible condition, my kids can’t ride their bikes anymore. Their “fishing” ponds are horribly overgrown and untreated.
