Alps Family Campground Inc Introduce
For residents and visitors in the Capital Region of New York, finding a tranquil outdoor retreat that balances accessibility with a "middle-of-the-woods" feel is a priority. Alps Family Campground Inc, located in the scenic community of Averill Park, serves as an ideal destination for those seeking a peaceful escape. Established as a family-centric facility, the park caters to a diverse range of campers—from seasonal regulars who call the park home for the summer to weary travelers looking for a high-quality overnight stop. Surrounded by forested terrain and a meandering creek, this campground offers a rustic experience without sacrificing the modern conveniences today's campers expect.
The campground is well-regarded for its welcoming atmosphere, often attributed to the hands-on management and friendly owners who prioritize guest satisfaction. While the park maintains a significant number of seasonal sites, it is purposefully designed to accommodate "Big Rigs" and traditional campers alike. As the New York camping season peaks from May through mid-October, Alps Family Campground becomes a vibrant community hub where the sounds of nature blend with the laughter of families enjoying the variety of recreational amenities on-site. It is a place where you can wake up to the sound of birds and wind through nature trails before starting a day of local exploration.
Location and accessibility are standout features of Alps Family Campground. Situated at 1928 NY-43 in Averill Park, NY, the park is less than 30 minutes from the historic urban centers of Albany and Troy. For those traveling from further afield, the park is easily reached via NY-43, providing a straightforward route for large RVs and towing vehicles. Its proximity to the western side of the Berkshires also makes it a convenient gateway for those heading into Massachusetts for cultural events or hiking adventures.
Accessibility within the park itself has been carefully considered. The facility features wheelchair-accessible entrances and parking lots to ensure all guests can navigate the grounds comfortably. Notably, the recently renovated bathroom and shower areas include a thoughtfully designed, handicapped-accessible unit with a roll-in shower. This commitment to inclusivity is a reflection of the significant work done in recent years to modernize the infrastructure, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the great outdoors in a safe and accommodating environment.

When deciding on an outdoor destination in the Capital District, Alps Family Campground is worth choosing for its blend of rustic charm and professional management. It is particularly worth choosing for RV owners who require reliable 50-amp service and the ease of pull-through sites. In a region where older campgrounds can sometimes feel cramped, the recent improvements and spacious layout here provide a more modern and comfortable experience. The park is a top choice for those who value quiet nights and friendly neighbors, as the "seasonal" culture creates a welcoming, neighborhood-like feel rather than a transient one.
Furthermore, it is worth choosing for families who want to experience the beauty of Rensselaer County without being too far from modern amenities. Its proximity to Albany and Troy means you can enjoy a high-end dinner or a museum tour in the afternoon and be back at your campfire by dusk. The affordability of the nightly rates, combined with the quality of the facilities like the clear pool and renovated showers, makes it a high-value option in the local market. If you are looking for a campground where the owners genuinely care about your experience and the environment is safe for kids to explore, Alps Family Campground Inc is an excellent choice for your next New York adventure.

Customer Reviews
The park is mainly for seasonal clientele, but they are more than happy to fit in travelers if sites are available. Much work has been done to address the negative issues mentioned in the very old reviews. These issues are not a problem now. Owners really seem to care about their guests. Some people are never satisfied. The Park has easy access to the western side of the Berkshires, Albany, and Troy, NY. They are "Big Rig" friendly, pull-through, full-hookup sites. Enjoyed our stay here for 5 days. These sites have easy access to four private individual shower/bathroom areas, with one being an extremely well-thought-out handicapped-accessible area with a roll-in shower. There are lots of things to see and do in the Albany-Troy area. This is a great area for antique shopping and hiking.A nice and quiet campground, water pressure is average for the New England area, it's there... but you're not going to blow out any fittings. They have a nice covered common area with a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge, sink, Webber, and a couple of Blackstone grills. The pool was crystal clear and inviting. It is also KID-FRIENDLY.A 35-Amp site is currently $45, and a 50-Amp site is $55 per night,
Great, Camping Area Lil out in the woods we like. Ron and Sherry took good care of you. The pool is not heated so if you go late in the year it will be cold. New bathroom and laundry area.
Overall it is a nice quiet campground. Lot is grass & dirt, somewhat level, had to use a block. Bathrooms are Not cleaned daily, no paper towels, no handsoap and the exhaust fans are so caked with dust, they're a fire hazard just waiting to happen. It's a shame because I would have given this place a 5 star had they maintained the bathrooms properly and had the office open daily, at least for a few hours.
Great staff, well kept, pool/bathrooms/lawn are all clean. Have stayed multiple times and will do so again!
Have family that stays every year, and this year I’ll be getting my family’s own lot! It’s a very homie family friendly place, lots of respectful people. Lovely place for family to spend time together. The owners are very nice and very careful to keep children safe. There is a fenced in pool open to all campers , laundry room, gathering pavillion, . Bathrooms and showers as well.
