Appalachian Campground Introduce
For residents and travelers in the Pennsylvania region, finding a destination that perfectly captures the rustic beauty of the Blue Mountains while providing modern, family-friendly amenities is a top priority. Appalachian Campground, also known as Appalachian RV Resort, serves as a cornerstone of outdoor recreation in Shartlesville. Spanning over 80 acres of lush, wooded terrain in northern Berks County, this resort is more than just a place to pitch a tent or park an RV; it is a comprehensive vacation hub designed to provide a quintessential Pennsylvania Dutch Country experience. Whether you are a local looking for a weekend getaway or a traveler exploring the Keystone State, this campground offers a welcoming atmosphere that emphasizes community and relaxation.
The spirit of the Appalachian Campground is rooted in its versatility. It functions as a campground, a children’s camp, and a recreation center all in one. The property is carefully maintained to preserve the natural canopy of the forest while ensuring that guests have access to the comforts of home. For those who appreciate the slower pace of life, the sight of smoke rising from evening campfires and the sound of children playing at the playground create a nostalgic environment that has made this spot a favorite for generations of Pennsylvanians. As a part of the Thousand Trails and Encore network, it maintains high standards of service, ensuring that every visitor feels like a valued member of the community from the moment they check in.
Location and accessibility are among the most significant advantages of choosing Appalachian Campground. Located at 60 Motel Dr, Shartlesville, PA 19554, the resort is situated just off Interstate 78, making it an incredibly easy drive for those coming from Philadelphia, Harrisburg, or the Allentown area. Its proximity to the highway is balanced by its placement at the foothills of the mountains, providing a scenic backdrop that feels miles away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The entrance and facilities are designed with inclusivity in mind, featuring wheelchair-accessible restrooms, parking lots, and entrances to ensure all guests can navigate the grounds comfortably.
Beyond the gates of the campground, the surrounding area is a treasure trove of local attractions. For hikers, the proximity to the legendary Appalachian Trail is a major draw, with the Sand Spring Trailhead providing an amazing route for those looking to immerse themselves in nature. Families often appreciate being just minutes away from local landmarks like Roadside America and the Cabela’s flagship store in Hamburg. This central location allows guests to use the campground as a base camp for exploring the rich history and unique culture of the Pennsylvania Dutch region, from historic churches to local wineries and antique shops.

When deciding on a destination for your next outdoor excursion, Appalachian Campground is worth choosing for its rare combination of professional management and authentic natural charm. One of the primary reasons locals choose this park is the "buddy site" configuration, which is perfect for friends traveling together who want to share a common area while still having their own hookups. This social design, combined with the "wonderful neighbors" frequently mentioned by regulars, creates a unique sense of camaraderie that is hard to find elsewhere.
Furthermore, the value of the onsite amenities like mini-golf and the swimming pool cannot be overstated for those traveling with children. It provides a built-in entertainment schedule that allows parents to relax while kids stay active in a safe, controlled environment. Whether you are looking to conquer a section of the Appalachian Trail or simply want to spend a weekend grilling and enjoying a picnic in the woods, this resort provides the infrastructure to make it happen. Choosing Appalachian Campground means choosing a piece of Pennsylvania tradition where the setting is beautiful, the staff is helpful, and the memories are guaranteed to last. It remains a standout choice for anyone seeking the best of what Shartlesville and the wider Berks County area have to offer.

Customer Reviews
We were at the RV buddy site. The hookups were convenient, we bought shirts at the store and had a great time with our friends. The mini golf was very enjoyable and our location was perfect! We'll definitely be back next year!
Really nice campground in a beautiful setting. Helpful and friendly staff too. Enjoyed the camp store, their little library, and the surrounding area. The nearby Sand Spring Trail is an amazing hike. Met some really nice people in Rehrersburg, including a church elder organist at the local historic church who invited us in for a tour and played their 200 year old organ for us. What a treat! Thanks for a fantastic getaway! We highly recommend this campground.
Family style campground with well organized events and crafts. Always plenty of entertainment people watching and socializing OR not!Overall very nice experience 👌
Beautiful campground with plenty to do. We come up for family vacation yearly and stay in one of the cottages (which is absolutely beautiful at first glance) but once we’re settled in we notice that whomever the cleaning company is, fails to actually clean. The floors weren’t mopped, with dark dirt spots throughout, cleaning on the bathroom sink wasn’t done as there was hair (that certainly wasn’t ours) and just dirt. The loft area wasn’t vacuumed and previous renters forgot socks that were left in both sides of the lofts. The floors weren’t mopped next to the tub and lastly it had not been dusted at all. We’ve learned to check the a/c filters upon arrival. Overall like I said it’s beautiful but the cleaning company does not do simple housecleaning which is a shame when you spend that kind of money.
First time to the campgrounds. Very clean, sites were all well kept, people all were very friendly. Great place to camp for a few days or for the hole season. Had a very nice time. Will definitely visit again. Had sites for any kind of camper. Can pull up in your RV or pitch a tent. Can even rent little cabins. Have a pool, arcade, playground a stocked pond for fishing. And have different events thru out the season.
