Avalon Campground Introduce
For generations of New Jersey families, the arrival of spring signals the start of the annual pilgrimage to the "Jersey Cape." Avalon Campground, a staple of the South Jersey camping scene since 1967, offers an expansive and well-maintained escape nestled within 80 wooded acres of Cape May Court House. This family-owned and operated resort is designed to provide a comprehensive camping experience that balances the ruggedness of the outdoors with the convenience of modern resort amenities. Whether you are a local from the Philly suburbs looking for a seasonal home or a North Jersey resident seeking a weekend by the sea, this campground serves as a versatile home base for exploring the historic and natural beauty of the region.
The atmosphere at Avalon Campground is defined by its friendly community and meticulous attention to detail. Managed by owners who are frequently cited by guests for their accommodating nature, the grounds are kept in pristine condition, reflecting a high standard of cleanliness that extends from the bathhouses to the shaded individual sites. The park model trailers and log cabins provide a comfortable alternative for those who prefer "glamping" or don't own their own rig, offering air-conditioned retreats that are perfect for those humid New Jersey summer nights. It is a place where neighbors become friends over shared fire pits and children enjoy the freedom of biking through safe, tree-lined avenues.
Location and Accessibility are key components of the Avalon Campground experience. Situated at 1917 US-9, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210, the campground is strategically located on the mainland but remains just a short four-mile drive from the pristine public beaches of Avalon and Stone Harbor. For those traveling from the Garden State Parkway, take Exit 13 or 17 for easy access. The park is designed with inclusivity in mind, featuring a wheelchair-accessible entrance, dedicated parking lots, and accessible restroom facilities to accommodate all guests. Its proximity to local landmarks such as the Cape May County Park & Zoo, the Wildwood Boardwalk, and the historic streets of Cape May City makes it one of the most centrally located vacation spots in the county.

What is worth choosing about Avalon Campground is the sheer variety and value it provides compared to traditional shore housing. For local users, the "ground lease" and park model options offer a far more affordable way to have a permanent summer retreat than purchasing a house across the causeway. It is worth choosing for families with children who will thrive in the safe, activity-rich environment where "kid-friendly" isn't just a label, but a way of life. Furthermore, the meticulous maintenance of the grounds—often described as "no bugs and no funky smells"—sets it apart from other more rustic operations in the area. If you value a community where everyone follows the "slow down" rules to keep the streets safe and the neighbors are genuinely friendly, this is the right place for you.
While the campground is heavily oriented toward RVers and seasonal residents, its location remains its greatest asset. You are minutes away from the excitement of the Steel Pier in Atlantic City and the world-famous Wildwood boardwalk, yet you can return to a quiet, wooded sanctuary at night. For dog owners, the pet-friendly policy ensures that your four-legged family members don't have to miss out on the fun, provided they remain on their leashes. Choosing Avalon Campground means choosing a summer filled with picnics, pool days, and the simple pleasure of a fire pit under the stars. It is a quintessential Jersey Shore experience that continues to get better with every passing season.
In summary, Avalon Campground is more than just a place to park an RV; it is a community hub that embodies the spirit of South Jersey. Whether you are staying in a cozy cabin or a premium 50-amp site, you are guaranteed a high level of service and a wealth of memories. Plan your visit to this Cape May Court House gem and see why so many families have made it their "forever" vacation spot for over five decades.

The owner Mike is so accommodating and everyone is so friendly. We stayed in one of the cabins. There was plenty of space and they had everything we needed to keep phone and selves cold in the summer. Super clean, no bugs, no funky smells, just perfect accommodations. Heads up if you’ve never been here-bring linens and pillows for the beds. In our cabin, there were four twin bunks and a full size bed in the front. We didn’t know ahead of time, so we just scooted over to the Dollar General about ten minutes away and they had everything we needed.Fun place with a pickleball court, arcade, coffee shop, playground, pool (live music and an awesome food truck when we were there!!)The grounds are kept meticulously. The ground lease here is super cheap too. I’m actually looking at purchasing one of their park models. Super friendly folks and a more affordable option than having a shore house across the causeway.
Camping here asa a tent camper was a mediocre experience. The place is mainly an RV camp. The tent sites are wedged in nooks and crannies that are unoccupied by RVs. As far as quiet time, the RVers ignore this completely ! They do have a nice area to meet and a good fire pit area. The location is also good. Aside from the RV residents constantly telling you to slow down to observe the 5 mph limit ( even though you may be doing (6-7), they are reasonably friendly. An overall okay campground. But if you prefer space and tenting on grass, look elsewhere.
I seriously would rate this place a 10 out of 10 everything was just amazing. The pool, mini golf, the playground. They even have a really nice Dj and Band set up. All the people were so nice and kind. Definitely will be back again next year and spreading the word to everyone on how amazing this place was. I Especially wanna thank the Manager Mike and all the staff they do such a good job with keeping the place clean, and so much fun with so many different activities. Thank you so much Avalon Campground for making our stay and vacation amazing.

I have been camping for 30 years all throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. This is a very clean and friendly Campground. 10 minutes to Avalon and Sea Isle City, 18 minutes to North Wildwood. Owners are doing a great job. Wish I found this place sooner. Will definitely be back!
