When considering which campground to choose in the Pennsylvania region, Big Country Campgrounds stands out for several compelling reasons. The primary factor cited by many regular visitors is the exceptional level of hospitality. Unlike larger commercial parks, the owners here are deeply involved in the day-to-day operations. They are frequently praised for going out of their way to ensure guest satisfaction, whether that involves helping with a difficult hookup or providing directions to the best local hidden gems. This personal touch creates a sense of community and security that is often missing from modern travel experiences.
Additionally, the physical quality of the sites is a major draw. Having level, large pull-through sites with full hookups significantly reduces the "work" part of camping, allowing more time for relaxation. The ongoing improvements made by the owners signify a business that is growing and listening to its customers. The affordability of their on-site services, such as propane and store goods, also adds value to the stay. For anyone planning a trip toward Cook Forest or looking for a reliable home base while exploring Jefferson County, Big Country Campgrounds is a choice that combines comfort, convenience, and genuine Pennsylvania hospitality. It is a place where memories are made, and where many travelers find themselves returning year after year.
The surrounding area of Brookville adds even more value to your stay. Known as the "Main Street of the Alleghenies," the town offers a beautiful backdrop of Victorian architecture and a friendly local culture. Staying at Big Country Campgrounds allows you to enjoy the quiet of the woods at night while being just minutes away from a hot meal at a local bistro or a morning coffee in a historic setting. It truly represents the best of what local Pennsylvania camping has to offer, providing a safe, clean, and joyful environment for all who visit.

Bill and I couldn't have been happier with our stay here. The owners treat you like family. We were so lucky to find this place. They go out of their way to make your stay so pleasant. Their son also was so helpful and friendly. The site was a pull through, full hookups , large and level. Cant say enough about how happy we were and highly recommend this campground. Thank you Mary and Bill( owners)
This is the first campground on the way to Cook Forest. It's just outside of Downtown Brookville which has a quaint historic district with lots of shops, restaurants, and grocery stores. The owners are friendly and helpful. They are in their third year of ownership and have made many improvements. The office is very welcoming. They have a small country store that has all the basics at reasonable prices. They even fill propane onsite. We camped at Big Country Campground in a Travel Trailer.
Very pretty country campground! I had a miscommunication with the owners, they were nicer than they should've been to me. Very understanding and kind owners.
We were traveling I-80 and needed a place for the night. This place is easy to get to, peaceful, quiet, neat and clean. It's open meadow with trees, with nice long gravel pull through spaces w/full hookups. We have a nice cool breeze through the windows. The owners are great! They made sure we had what we needed, and offered to bring us water if we needed more. Thanks! We would stay again if traveling this way.
The owners are awful, rude people. I would avoid going there.
