Blairs Cabin Introduce
For those seeking a genuine escape into the heart of the Pennsylvania Wilds, Blairs Cabin, often referred to by locals as Blair Cottages, offers an authentic mountain retreat that has become a cherished tradition for many families. Situated in the small community of Barbours, just outside of Williamsport, these cottages provide a unique blend of rustic simplicity and natural beauty. Unlike modern hotel chains, this destination focuses on the warmth of local hospitality and the unparalleled serenity of living alongside one of Pennsylvania's most beautiful waterways.
The cabins are owned and operated by the Blair family, who are well-known in the region for their kindness and commitment to providing a "slice of heaven" for their guests. Whether you are a local resident of Lycoming County looking for a staycation or traveling from across the Commonwealth to explore the Endless Mountains, the atmosphere here is designed to help you unplug. From the sound of the water rushing over the rocks to the sight of eagles soaring above the trees, the environment at Blairs Cabin is a testament to the rugged charm of North Central Pennsylvania.
Location and accessibility are major draws for this specific cottage retreat. Blairs Cabin is located at 529 Lower Barbours Rd, Williamsport, PA 17701, USA. The services offered at Blairs Cabin reflect the classic Pennsylvania "camp" experience, where the focus is on providing a comfortable, home-like base for outdoor adventures. The property features two primary lodging options—Little Bear Lodge and Big Bear Lodge—each tailored to different group sizes and needs. The management ensures that the essential comforts are met while preserving the rustic character that repeat visitors have come to love over the decades.
- Lodging in fully furnished cottages: Little Bear Lodge typically sleeps 4 to 8 guests, while the larger ranch-style Big Bear Lodge can accommodate groups of 12 or more.
- Water sport rentals: Through local coordination, guests can arrange for the delivery and pickup of kayaks, tubes, and paddleboards for use on the creek.
- Pet-friendly accommodations: Dogs are welcomed with prior notice and a small nightly fee, ensuring the entire family can enjoy the trip together.
- Outdoor cooking facilities: Each cabin is equipped with a gas grill (propane provided) and a dedicated fire ring for evening campfires.
- Flexible camping options: For larger groups renting a cabin, the property allows for limited tent camping or camper parking to accommodate extra guests.
- Seasonal availability: The cottages are open from April through November, capturing the best of the Pennsylvania fishing, hiking, and hunting seasons.
The features and highlights of a stay at Blairs Cabin are centered on the "great outdoors." It is a place where the amenities are the views and the activities are the memories made around a campfire or on a porch swing. Residents of Pennsylvania who appreciate traditional cabin architecture and riverside living will find several standout features that make this location a repeat destination.
- The Porch Experience: Little Bear Lodge features a 10-foot-wide wrap-around porch that faces the creek, providing a perfect spot for morning coffee or afternoon bird watching.
- Historic Charm: Big Bear Lodge, a large ranch-style cabin built in the 1940s, offers a nostalgic feel with modern comforts like cable TV and reliable heating for cooler mountain nights.
- Wildlife Viewing: The property is a haven for local fauna; it is common to see deer, wild turkeys, and the occasional black bear or bald eagle directly from the cabin windows.
- Recreational Variety: Beyond the water, the surrounding area is a hub for cycling, mountain biking, and hiking on the numerous trails that crisscross the Loyalsock State Forest.
- Hospitality: The "shirts-off-their-back" reputation of the Blair family is a hallmark of the stay, often cited by guests as the reason they feel like part of the family rather than just customers.

What is worth choosing when it comes to Blairs Cabin? For many, it is the opportunity to "unplug" in a way that modern life rarely allows. This is the place for those who prefer the sound of a crackling fire to a buzzing smartphone and who value the simplicity of a well-kept, rustic lodge over a sterile hotel room. It is worth choosing for the proximity to the Loyalsock Creek, where the water is clear and the fishing is legendary.
Furthermore, the value of the experience lies in the community and the history of the place. Choosing Blairs Cabin means supporting a local family business that has been part of the Barbours landscape for generations. It is a location that caters specifically to families—offering a "safe slice of heaven" where kids can run in the grass and splash in the creek. For groups, the ability to rent a large cabin like Big Bear Lodge provides a cost-effective way to gather everyone under one roof for a week of memories. In a state full of outdoor opportunities, Blairs Cabin stands out as a genuine, heartwarming, and quintessentially Pennsylvania experience.

It has been a few years since we’ve been there, but it is one of our favorite places to go. We have spent several wonderful trips and stayed in a couple of the cabins. The Blairs are some of the best people there are and would give you the shirts off their backs if they knew you needed it.I miss this place and hope to get to go back one day soon. 💗😊

They owners are rude, disrespectful and steel from people! The big bear cabin is full of bugs and never cleaned! Smells musty and moldy. Has very unsafe steps and conditions for children! Highly recommend never going there.
