Camp-A-While Introduce

For those seeking a genuine outdoor experience in the heart of Pennsylvania, Camp-A-While offers a welcoming retreat that combines natural beauty with practical amenities. Located in the scenic valley of Hegins, this campground has established itself as a reliable destination for local families, road trippers, and outdoor enthusiasts. The atmosphere is defined by a friendly, professional management style that prioritizes a well-maintained environment, ensuring that every visitor feels at home from the moment they arrive. Whether you are looking for a quick overnight stop or a multi-day vacation, this location provides a peaceful backdrop for creating lasting memories in the Schuylkill County region.

Camp-A-While is designed to accommodate a variety of camping styles, ranging from modern RV enthusiasts to traditional tent campers. The grounds are meticulously cared for, reflecting the pride of ownership that local visitors often remark upon. The layout of the campground is thoughtfully organized, often keeping seasonal residents and daily visitors in distinct areas to provide a sense of community for long-term guests while offering spacious, wooded sites for those passing through. This balance makes it a versatile choice for anyone exploring the diverse landscapes of Pennsylvania, offering a blend of open spaces and shaded groves that cater to different preferences for privacy and sun exposure.

Conveniently situated at 1921 E Main St, Hegins, PA 17938, Camp-A-While is easily accessible for those traveling through Central Pennsylvania. Its location along a main thoroughfare makes it a straightforward destination for large rigs and families who prefer not to navigate complex backroads. The entrance is designed with accessibility in mind, featuring wheelchair-accessible entry points and a dedicated parking lot. Local users appreciate the proximity to regional hubs, making it a viable option for weekend getaways without the need for extensive travel time. However, because it is located near a significant roadway with local industrial traffic, light sleepers may wish to choose sites further back in the wooded areas to ensure a quieter night.

Accessibility extends beyond just the physical road access. The campground provides a free parking lot for visitors and ensures that the facilities are reachable for all guests. The terrain within the camp itself is manageable, allowing for easy movement between the central activity hubs and individual campsites. For those arriving in RVs, the straightforward navigation of the local roads leading to the Hegins area is a significant benefit, avoiding the steep, narrow passes that can sometimes complicate travel in other mountainous parts of the state.

It is kept in excellent condition, providing a refreshing escape for children and adults alike. For those who prefer land-based activities, the campground boasts a very well-maintained hiking trail. This allows visitors to experience the local flora and fauna without leaving the property, making it a perfect spot for morning walks or afternoon explorations with the family dog.

Children are particularly well-catered for at this location. With a dedicated playground and plenty of open space, it is a safe and engaging environment for younger campers. The presence of friendly farm-to-table options, such as the local meat selection, adds a unique touch to the camping experience, allowing guests to enjoy a high-quality Pennsylvania barbecue right at their site. Furthermore, the campground is dog-friendly, recognizing that for many Pennsylvania residents, a camping trip isn't complete without the four-legged members of the family.

I really wanted to like this place as the owners were very friendly and helpful and the grounds seem so well maintained and enjoyable. A serious problem for me was the main road that is approximately 100 yd from the primitive campsites. Unfortunately right at that location is a steep hill and big rig truckers are constantly running throughout the night. If they're not using their Extremely Loud Jake brakes going down the hill they are very slowly climbing the hill making unbelievably loud noise. I did not get any sleep through the night. I thought I might use my earplugs but I could not sleep with them. I don't know how the trailer campers manage it as I'm sure the noise can penetrate those walls. Once there was enough light in the morning I packed up and left. Unfortunately this is one place I will not return to. I had checked the reviews and unfortunately missed any complaints on noise so I wonder if those comments somehow got buried.

Great campground for over night or several days. There is a well kept extremely large pool and a very well maintained hiking trail. The campground is well maintained and the seasonal sites appear to be separate from the fairly large wooded daily sites. The owners are very friendly and the selection of local beef and pork meat is both amazing and delicious. We enjoyed our time at Camp-A-While.

We stayed 2 nights in the "cozy cabin", the kids fished in the pond and both caught fish, and it proposed to my now fiancé in front of the waterfall. Great place and we will absolutely be back as often as possible!!!!!

We loved our campsite overlooking Pine Creek and the birds that were singing from the trees (we are birders and loved hearing the orioles and warblers). We also walked and enjoyed the mile-long nature trail, which is well maintained. We were impressed with the beauty of the surroundings, the cleanliness of the facilities, and the provisions in the store. The owners, Michelle and Rob, are kind and clearly work hard to keep the place running smoothly, and they obviously care about their campers' experience, while establishing a sense of comfort and community for anyone who visits. We highly recommend this campground!
