What is worth choosing
Choosing Camp Kirchenwald means choosing a tradition of excellence in outdoor ministry that spans over half a century. One of the most compelling reasons to select this campground is its focus on "growth through challenge." Unlike many standard campgrounds, Kirchenwald integrates physical activity with character development. Whether it is a child conquering their fear on the climbing tower or a family bonding over a shared hiking trail, the experiences here are designed to leave a lasting positive impact on the individual's confidence and faith.
Furthermore, the camp's commitment to being a "Reconciling in Christ" organization makes it a welcoming space for everyone. Local families often choose Kirchenwald because of its multi-generational appeal; it is common to find campers whose parents and even grandparents attended the same programs. This sense of continuity and shared history creates a safe, familiar environment that many Pennsylvania residents value deeply. The high staff-to-camper ratio and the accreditation by the American Camp Association provide additional peace of mind regarding the safety and quality of the programming.
Finally, for those looking for a location that truly feels like the Pennsylvania wilderness while remaining close to home, the site's 340 acres are unbeatable. The combination of modern amenities like Wi-Fi and accessible restrooms with rustic highlights like the Fort and the Labyrinth ensures that guests can customize their experience to be as rugged or as comfortable as they desire. Whether you are looking for a weekend of quiet prayer or a week of high-energy adventure, Camp Kirchenwald provides the perfect setting for a time and place apart.

Customer Reviews
Church camp, dog friendly, different activities. This is part of Lutheran Camping Corporation.
My granddaughter stayed here for a week of Christian camping. She had a great time and made lots of friends. Her father and his brothers came as children and loved it. I love that the next generation gets to come too.
Best place to experience the outdoors with dedicated leaders, energetic staff, Christian directed, and high adventure activities. Sent our children every year, they loved it and invited friends. Full of wonderful memories.
I went with a few friends and this place was a bad experience. I am a highschooler and that may also be the reason why. For younger kids it seems like a lot more fun. But for us it was awful. The staff treated us like we are 5 years old and give us no freedom. There is also a complete lack of free time which was very anoying. Also, they only gave us meat once a day or less. To go with that, there was no sides and if there was it was food like apple sauce. Half the staff were actually cool but the other half were garbage.
I went there from age 11 -15 I loved it. It was an amazing growing experience for me. I loved the counclers. The art place was so neat with a small Creek go through it! Polar bears swim, kyaking, rock climbing looking for fools gold, zipnlining, end of the week with caputre the flag! Cooking out on fire pit! I can not say enough good things about the place.
