Camp Rainbow Mountain Introduce
For Pennsylvania residents and travelers seeking an outdoor experience with a unique social twist, Camp Rainbow Mountain in East Stroudsburg offers a historic retreat nestled high atop a mountainside. Known formally as part of the Rainbow Mountain Resort, this 25-acre property has served the community since the early 1900s. It is a destination that balances the rugged appeal of the Pocono Mountains with a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere. Whether you are looking to pitch a tent under the stars or stay in one of their rustic cabins, the site provides a distinct alternative to traditional, quiet campgrounds, emphasizing a "social getaway" environment that has made it a staple for the LGBTQ+ community and allies for decades.
The campground is situated on a lush property that features a two-acre pond and spectacular views of the surrounding mountain ranges. For local Pennsylvanians, it represents a convenient escape that feels isolated from the noise of the city while remaining close to the attractions of the Delaware Water Gap. The resort’s history is palpable in its architecture, with buildings dating back to the 1940s and 70s, lending the place a vintage charm. While the experience can be more "rustic" than some modern luxury resorts, the draw for many is the sense of belonging and the lively entertainment that takes place throughout the season, ranging from poolside gatherings to high-energy dance nights.

What is worth choosing about Camp Rainbow Mountain is its status as a "social landmark" in the Poconos. For many Pennsylvania locals, it is worth choosing because it offers a judgment-free zone where the focus is as much on the people you meet as it is on the landscape. Unlike sterile, corporate campgrounds, this resort has a "lived-in" personality that regular guests describe as feeling like a visit to a quirky family estate. If you value a lively atmosphere with on-site bars, a historic dance club, and a massive pool where the party often lasts all afternoon, this is the destination for you.
Furthermore, it is worth choosing for its historical value and the "diamond in the rough" charm that appeals to those who enjoy a nostalgic camping trip. The ability to spend the day hiking the rugged trails of East Stroudsburg and then return to an on-site restaurant for a four-course dinner is a convenience rarely found in standard campgrounds. While the facilities embrace their age, the combination of spectacular mountain views and a welcoming community spirit makes it a memorable choice for those who want their outdoor adventure to include a healthy dose of social interaction and local history.

Customer Reviews
Getaway turned Ghetto-wayThe pool is where it's at. We stayed in a cabin... Thought it was over priced. The website advertises a hot tub, there are 2 and both are broken. They advertise a sauna, again broken. The trash can at the top of the trail to the cabins was overfull and trash was everywhere and that's what we looked out on from our porch. I had to ask to have it emptied and it was the next day.The drinks are over priced at the pool and nightclub. Btw, the nightclub is a bar but louder musicBartenders don't really care that you're there and will keep you waiting forever
Let’s talk about it.$15 for a pool full of bugs. $18 for two shots that aren’t even filled properly. Prices for me are no problem but then give the presentation. Garbage all over the walkway behind the pool. Girl was playing music over her phone. They couldn’t decide what ius gay people wanted to listen to so the went with classic rock 😒 what has happened to this place. There use to be a bartender named Anna who use to work there. She made great drinks and had a infectious personality. Every one looks like they hate their job. I miss the clean rainbow mountain
I would like to share my experience here. I read the many bad reviews on this campsite and still chose to book a weekend for my birthday with my wife and friends. I booked a cabin that sleeps 6 online. Before arriving, I received an email letting me know that my cabin would be shared with 6 other random people that I have never met. Would not be an issue if it had been disclosed before booking and if it was a lower price. When I called to ask about this, the front desk informed me that these people would have unlimited access to my room through a shared door/key and that since they were splitting the cabin, that there would only be 2 beds available for my party of 6. I asked the front desk worker why they would advertise a private cabin that sleeps 6, allow me to book months in advance, then overbook it with another party. When I said there would not be enough beds for everyone, she suggested that I sleep on the floor.I got all of this in a written email and filed a charge back due to the fact that they double booked my cabin and could not provide what I paid for, which the campground had the balls to contest.Would never recommend this place. I actually find them to be despicable.Instead, the KOA Delaware water gap is an amazing campground and has made me a lifetime camper.
Nice place!
