Countryside Campground Introduce
For Connecticut residents and visitors looking to trade the noise of the city for the gentle rustle of leaves and the warmth of a campfire, Countryside Campground stands as a premier choice in the eastern part of the state. Known colloquially among locals as the "best kept secret in Connecticut," this family-owned and operated facility offers a serene environment that prioritizes privacy and natural beauty. Unlike larger, corporate-style resorts, Countryside focuses on providing a peaceful sanctuary where guests can truly unwind. Whether you are a weekend warrior in a travel trailer or a seasonal camper looking for a long-term home away from home, the lush, rolling landscape of Jewett City provides the perfect backdrop for your next outdoor adventure.
The campground is distinguished by its impeccable maintenance and the personal touch of its owners, who are frequently praised for their hands-on approach and thoughtful hospitality. The atmosphere here is one of quiet community, where the sites are thoughtfully integrated into the wooded terrain rather than being crowded together. For those who value a "quiet and peaceful scene," this destination is hard to beat. It serves as a bridge between the rustic, back-to-nature feel of the Quinebaug and Shetucket Rivers Valley and the high-energy entertainment found just a short drive away at the region's famous resort casinos.
Location and Accessibility are significant advantages for Countryside Campground. Situated at 75 Cook Hill Road #3608, Jewett City, CT 06351, the park is technically located in the town of Griswold, specifically within the Borough of Jewett City. This location is strategically positioned just off the Interstate 395 corridor, making it exceptionally accessible for travelers coming from Hartford, New Haven, or even Providence, Rhode Island. For those navigating larger rigs, the campground features a wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking lot, with wide, well-maintained roads that lead to level sites. Its central location in New London County means that while the campground feels secluded, it remains within a 20-minute drive of major shopping centers, restaurants, and the world-class entertainment hubs of Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun.

What is worth choosing at Countryside Campground? The most compelling reason to choose this park is the "best of both worlds" experience it provides. You can spend your day in total seclusion, enjoying the "secluded waterfront" vibes and watching local deer or birds from your campsite, yet you are less than half an hour away from the vibrant nightlife, shows, and dining of the casinos. It is particularly worth choosing for pet owners; the owners have established a reputation for going above and beyond, even assisting with pet care during unexpected emergencies. When you choose Countryside, you aren't just renting a plot of land; you are joining a well-tended community where the hospitality is genuine and the landscape is preserved.
Ultimately, Countryside Campground represents the enduring appeal of the New England countryside. It offers the space to breathe, the infrastructure to support modern RV living, and a location that serves as a gateway to both nature and world-class entertainment. Customer Reviews
We stayed here once before and decided to come back because it’s such a nice, secluded campground with great owners. The lady owner escorted us back to a quiet pull-thru where we had no one in front of us for the 5 days we were there. The water and electric worked fine. WiFi was inconsistent but we used our own hotspot. We had to go to the ER one day and so we left a key to our coach at the office. Turns out, they came by and not only looked in on our dog but took her outside and made sure she was taken care of. Very thoughtful of them and unexpected. Highly recommended.
I have gone to many campgrounds, and this is by far one of the best, its also beautifully maintained and clean. The sites are big, you are not on top of each other. The seasonal campers are awesome. They have so many beautiful sites. The owners are great. If you like a quiet peaceful scene. This is the place to go, also if you want to have some action, The casinos and shows are twenty minutes away. It's the best of both worlds. my husband and I love it and highly recommend it!
This place is such a gem. If you are looking for the ultimate peace and quiet in a countryside setting, this is your place. The owners and their family members were all so friendly and welcoming. Impeccably clean and well maintained park-like setting with very large sites. Bonus: hiking trails at the back of the property. Double bonus: dog friendly. We absolutely loved our stay here.
This is my opinion and should be taken as such.Gotta say that this is one of my favorite spots in CT. Have never heard of it prior to this trip. Wooded, pretty large sites. And holy smokes it is a QUIET campground. Nice little fishing pond, lots of fish for the kids. Sites were clean. Owner s were fantastic to deal with. Super nice.My one star review would be for the store. Didn't have a lot to offer. In the grand scheme of things I would definitely come back. As a matter of fact I've been told we just booked for next year.
We love Countryside. There are basics: sewer, electric, water. Internet is spotty. There are few amenities - no activities for kids. That being said, if you are a quiet family or couple, and want a relaxing, beautiful, woodsy site for any size RV, this place is perfect. Our 47' toy hauler fits beautifully, and the site is spacious. It really is a gorgeous area. The road driving in is a little awkward, but it is drivable and manageable.
