Hopeville Hideaway RV Park and Campground Introduce

For outdoor enthusiasts and families across the Connecticut region, finding a sanctuary that perfectly balances peaceful natural surroundings with a vibrant community spirit is a top priority. Hopeville Hideaway RV Park and Campground, nestled in the heart of Griswold, stands as one of the state’s best-kept secrets. Located along the scenic south shoreline of Hopeville Pond, this campground offers a unique "hideaway" experience that stays true to its name. Whether you are looking for a weekend of fishing and kayaking or a seasonal home where you can build lasting friendships, Hopeville Hideaway provides a professional yet warm environment that caters to all generations of campers.

Under dedicated ownership since 2017, the park has undergone significant improvements to enhance the guest experience while preserving its quiet, rustic charm. It is particularly well-known among locals for its friendly atmosphere and the tireless work of its staff. The community feel is palpable here; it is common to see neighbors helping each other set up camp or gathering for one of the many planned weekend events. From the sounds of "night nature" amplifying off the pond to the crackle of community bonfires, Hopeville Hideaway offers an authentic Connecticut camping experience that encourages visitors to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with nature and each other.

The location and accessibility of Hopeville Hideaway RV Park and Campground make it a convenient choice for travelers from all corners of the First State. Situated at 28 Nowakowski Rd, Griswold, CT 06351, the campground is tucked away on a quiet back road, yet remains easily accessible from major thoroughfares. It is conveniently located near I-395, making it a straightforward drive for those coming from the New London area to the south or the Worcester and Putnam regions to the north. For local residents of Griswold and Jewett City, the park is a mere few miles away, serving as a perfect "staycation" destination that feels worlds apart from everyday chores.

The park’s proximity to Hopeville Pond State Park adds an extra layer of value for guests. While the Hideaway offers its own private access to the water, the surrounding state forest provides miles of additional trails and protected natural beauty. Accessibility within the park has been a focus of recent updates, featuring wheelchair-accessible entrances and parking lots to ensure that all guests, regardless of mobility, can enjoy the pavilion, recreation areas, and waterfront views. The physical layout of the park is designed to maximize the "forest view" or "waterfront" perspective of individual sites, providing a sense of seclusion even within a thriving campground community.

The services offered at Hopeville Hideaway are comprehensive and designed to accommodate everything from traditional tent camping to modern, heavy-duty RV rigs. The staff, led by dedicated managers and coordinators, works 110% to ensure the facilities are maintained and guests are well-cared for. Key services include:

Many campgrounds focus solely on the facilities, but the staff here focuses on the people. As noted by long-term seasonal campers, the dedication of the management to creating a "fun, welcoming environment" is what turns first-time visitors into lifelong friends. It is a place where neighbors still look out for one another, making it an exceptionally safe and welcoming choice for families with children.

Furthermore, the park is worth choosing for its incredible natural value. Being situated directly on the pond means you have immediate access to some of the best freshwater recreation in the state. Jeannet and Kerry went above and beyond! 1st they made checking in and getting situated so easy and gave us a great introduction to the campground. They made events like a community bonfire, karaoke, a scavenger poker event, a picnic…. All in one weekend. My group was also able to play a game of basketball on the courts. There were kayaked canoes and paddles boats for our use! I have never been to a campground like this before. It was amazing! We showed up to have a 30th birthday camping weekend for one of our friends. By the time Sunday rolled around and it was time to check out no one wanted the weekend to end. These people and the people who stay on the campground are some of the kindest and most welcoming people I have ever met. I am proud and I can now call them all friends too! Myself and my friends will surely be back to see everyone again and make more memories!

We ❤️ it here, and we're seasonal, campers. It's quiet, and nestled on a nice, dirt, back road, located in Hopeville Pond. There's always plenty of activities for all ages. It's not a huge campground, but large enough. The staff works very hard to keep things great. Patty, the camp manager, is more than helpful, and very patient. She has always addressed our questions, and is one of the hardest, working, people I know. This campground, should be so happy, they have her. Jim, is the events coordinator, and is very dedicated in planning, fun, weekend events. You know, it's going to be a fun time, when all your campground neighbors, show up for an event, because, Jim has planned it. Everyone here, is very friendly, and making new friends, is easy. Neighbors are always willing to help out, and just take care of each other. The campground is making, new, better, changes, but like anything, change takes a bit of time, especially after the very, harsh winter. The staff is working 110% , ALL the time, to make everything updated, so this campground will stand out. I know, that my husband and I, recognize their hard work, every day. You know what's great about this place.,.we love that it's a great secret, 3.1 miles to our home, on this beautiful, little pond, that people are beginning to talk about. It truly is awesome, to be able it sit around your campfire at night, have great conversations with your friends, and hear all the incredible sounds of "night nature" , amplifying off the pond. Jump in my kyack, grab my camera, and watch the pair of Bald Eagles, osprey, herons, and many species of ducks. Fishing here is incredible! I'm not good at it, by my neighbors are!!! I love it here. Oh wait, did I already say that 😁

Needed a place to stay for a few months. Very helpful and still had activities in October. Some need to remember dogs need to be leashed even in the campsite. Many sites but you have enough space to call your own. Close to town but still can enjoy the woods!

There is never anyone at the main office, so when we arrived, we had to call a number and wait for someone to come and take us to our site. We rented the tiny house. Nice house, but the bathroom smelled horrid. Around that area needed some cleaning up, but down by the pond where most of the seasonal campers are is pretty nice. It's a very quiet campground. I didn't see any activities happening while we were there, however, an icecream truck came through daily. This is not a good campground for kids.Reply to campground comment:There was no "toilet liquid" there for the toilet nor was that the excuse for the stink that you sent in the email. The issue is your ventilation system. We happen to own a 5th wheel, do not use "toilet liquid", and have never had an issue.

Nice place, but little stones everywhere are rough on your feet
