Don Laine Campground Introduce

For residents of Pennsylvania looking to trade the neighborhood sidewalk for rolling hills and mountain vistas, Don Laine Campground in Palmerton offers a quintessential outdoor experience. This family-owned and operated facility has been a staple of the local camping community for over 45 years, providing a welcoming environment that feels more like a small village than just a place to park an RV. Perched atop a hill with sweeping views of the Blue Mountains, the campground serves as a gateway to the Poconos while remaining deeply rooted in the friendly, relaxed culture of Carbon County. Whether you are a "weekend warrior" or a seasonal camper, this site is designed to facilitate old-fashioned outdoor fun in a well-maintained, natural setting.

Don Laine is particularly celebrated for its sense of community. Unlike more corporate, transient parks, this campground prides itself on a "family-first" philosophy where owners and staff often know regulars by name. The atmosphere is distinctively local, attracting visitors from across the Lehigh Valley and beyond who appreciate the balance of quiet nature and organized social activity. From the morning aroma of fresh breakfast at the snack bar to the evening glow of campfires against the mountain backdrop, the campground provides a sensory escape that encourages guests to slow down and reconnect with friends and family.

Location and accessibility are major advantages for Pennsylvania locals. The campground is located at 790 57 Rd, Palmerton, PA 18071, USA. It is strategically positioned within a short drive of major regional hubs: approximately 40 minutes from Allentown and roughly an hour from Scranton and Reading. Its proximity to the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Route 209 makes it an easy Friday evening destination for those trying to escape the bustle of the Philadelphia suburbs. Once you turn onto the final approach, the ascent provides immediate rewards with views of the surrounding countryside.

The site is also a perfect home base for exploring nearby Pennsylvania landmarks. It is situated just 18 miles from the Pocono Raceway, making it a popular choice during NASCAR weekends. Additionally, it is close to Beltzville State Park, offering easy access to 949 acres of water for fishing and boating. For winter enthusiasts, the Blue Mountain Ski Area is just over four miles away, ensuring the region remains a draw regardless of the season. Within the campground itself, accessibility is prioritized with wheelchair-accessible entrances, parking lots, and restrooms, ensuring that the mountain experience is inclusive for all guests.

Don Laine Campground provides a comprehensive array of onsite services to ensure a comfortable stay for both tent campers and "big rig" RVers. The focus is on providing all the "creature comforts" while maintaining the rustic charm of the woods. Services offered include:

  • Full hook-up sites featuring water, sewer, and electric (20/30/50 amp service) to accommodate even the largest modern RVs.
  • Dedicated tent sites in wooded or open areas for those who prefer a traditional camping experience.
  • An onsite snack bar and cafe serving a variety of delicious food, including highly-rated breakfast options and local ice cream.
  • A well-stocked camp store providing groceries, RV supplies, firewood, and a large selection of unique gift items.

A simple nearby campground.Pros: Beautiful views, nice staff, pets allowed, reasonable priced. Love the ice cream!Cons: On our weekend kids were running rampant and other nearby campers were loud and had music blaring all the way beyond midnite. A few dogs were not leashed. Bath house had no outside lighting so you had to walk there in pitch black darkness.Overall I would visit again with hopes of less noise late at night.

Don Laine campground is in a beautiful setting in the Poconos. With scenic views looking out over the mountains and well maintained campsites. We have been coming here for 40 years and have been pleased with every trip. Prices have remained reasonable all theses years.

We had a campsite for our motorhome, A16. Person who checked us in was adequate but was not interested in answering our questions about the surrounding area. Campsite was adequate, with electric, water and sewer. Many seasonal campers there, friendly and helpful. However, was dismayed by small grouping of confederate flags on higher campsites in the woods. Is a 30 minute drive to Jim Thorpe. Shoo-fly pie purchased from their in-store baker was the best we have ever had. Would go back for that alone. Beautiful countryside views.
