Frontier Camper Park LLC Introduce

For Rhode Island families looking to trade the bustle of daily life for the rustle of leaves and the glow of a campfire, Frontier Camper Park LLC in Ashaway offers a welcoming retreat. Located in the southwestern corner of the Ocean State, this family-owned and operated campground has served as a local staple for generations of campers. Known for its quiet nights and friendly atmosphere, it provides a rustic yet comfortable base for those who want to experience the natural beauty of South County without venturing too far from home. Whether you are a seasoned RVer or a traditional tent camper, the park emphasizes a "back-to-basics" charm that encourages children to be kids and adults to truly unwind.

The spirit of Frontier Camper Park is one of community and relaxation. Long-term seasonal residents and weekend travelers alike share a common appreciation for the park’s shaded lots and laid-back pace. It is the kind of place where you can watch your children ride their bikes safely along the gravel roads or take a short stroll to the on-site pool for a refreshing afternoon dip. While the facilities maintain a rustic character, the emphasis remains on accessibility and affordability, making it an ideal choice for Rhode Islanders who want a reliable summer destination that captures the classic New England camping experience.

Location and accessibility are among the park's greatest assets. Situated at 180a Maxson Hill Rd, Ashaway, RI 02804, Frontier Camper Park is exceptionally easy to reach for locals. It is located just off I-95 at Exit 1, making it a convenient drive from Providence, Warwick, or even across the border from Connecticut. Despite its proximity to the interstate, the park is shielded by thick woods, preserving a sense of seclusion. The surrounding area of Ashaway and Hopkinton is rich with local charm, featuring nearby ice cream shops, mini-golf courses, and small-town restaurants that add to the vacation vibe.

For those who want to explore beyond the campground, the location serves as a perfect hub. The famous Misquamicut State Beach and the upscale charm of Watch Hill in Westerly are both approximately a 15-minute drive away. Nature lovers will also appreciate being close to the Arcadia Management Area, which offers some of the best hiking and freshwater fishing in Rhode Island. The park features on-site parking for guests and wide enough access for most standard RVs, though visitors are encouraged to mind the 5 MPH speed limit—often jokingly referred to by locals as a "reverse speed bump" due to the natural terrain of the interior roads.

Frontier Camper Park LLC offers a variety of services designed to support both short-term stays and seasonal living. The management focuses on providing the essentials needed for a functional and fun camping trip. These services include:

  • Full hook-up sites for RVs and trailers, providing water and electrical connections for a comfortable stay.
  • Dedicated tent camping areas for those who prefer a more traditional, primitive outdoor experience.
  • On-site maintenance and management, with a team known for their helpful and friendly approach to guest needs.
  • Modern payment processing, accepting debit cards and NFC mobile payments for added convenience at check-in.
  • A sanitary dump station for RV travelers to manage waste responsibly before heading back on the road.
  • Seasonal site options for those looking to establish a semi-permanent summer home in the Rhode Island countryside.

The park is packed with features that make it particularly appealing for families and pet owners. The highlights of the facility focus on outdoor recreation and communal fun. Key features include:

  • A well-maintained outdoor swimming pool that serves as the heart of the park during the warm summer months.
  • A children's playground equipped with swings and play structures where kids can burn off energy and meet new friends.
  • Pet-friendly policies that allow you to bring your dogs along, provided they are kept on a leash and cleaned up after.
  • Individual picnic tables at each site, perfect for family dinners or morning coffee in the fresh air.
  • Public restroom and shower facilities that provide the necessary comforts for tent campers and those in smaller trailers.
  • A naturally wooded landscape that provides ample shade, helping to keep campsites cool even during the peak of August.
  • Proximity to local attractions like the Maxson Hill mini-golf and various ice cream parlors just down the street.

If you are ready to book your spot or have specific questions about site availability for the upcoming season, you can reach the park office directly. Given the park's popularity for weekend getaways, calling ahead is always recommended.

What is worth choosing about Frontier Camper Park is the authentic, unpretentious atmosphere it maintains. In an era where many campgrounds are transforming into high-priced "glamping" resorts, Frontier remains a place where the focus is on the simple joys of camping. It is worth choosing if you value a quiet night's sleep, a safe environment for your children to explore, and a price point that makes regular family trips possible. The "rustic" nature of the facilities is viewed by many regulars as a badge of authenticity—it is a place to get away from screens and reconnect with the people around you.

Furthermore, its location in Ashaway provides a unique "best of both worlds" scenario. You are close enough to the coast to enjoy the Atlantic beaches by day, but far enough inland to avoid the salt-air humidity and the high-traffic noise of the beachfront hotels. Whether you are looking for a quick weekend escape from Providence or a place to park your camper for the entire summer, Frontier Camper Park LLC offers the hospitality and the setting to make your Rhode Island summer memorable. Choosing this park means joining a community of local campers who appreciate the quiet, wooded beauty of our state's interior.

Love staying in our camper here. Nice people, quiet at night, bathrooms are rustic but you’re camping so glad to have a bathroom at all! Roads need to be filled in-some big pot holes, but does keep drivers to the posted 5 MPH. I call them reverse speed bumps lol. Been camping here for a few years now. Very family friendly. Kids can be kids and ride their bikes, walk to the pool and playground. There’s a nice restaurant/ice cream shop/mini golf spot just down the street. And nearby shops, restaurants, beach etc.

Full hook up does not include duping black and gray tanks on your camping site. Parking for RV is on grass, which can cause getting stuck if too wet. Bathroom showers were bug infested and only scorching hot water. The pool looks good but overall the park is a 1.5.

Camp grounds are so much about the amenities, campers, people, and employees.Since I only had a few days on site, I can't comment on the people, the few I met were nice and I only saw one trump sign, so that's a big plus. The site has a pool, beautiful trees, some good sized lots, and the campers all seem in good or better shape, that's the positive. The roads are brutal and the restrooms, while clean are pretty old and the showers sometimes don't function. The power, water, and sewer connections all seem old, as the residents all know exactly where the main electrical breakers are, because there are power problems with two campers on one breaker or old breakers and the water doesn't always work. The fees are posted and reasonable, so that's good and it's close to the beach, shopping, and Foxwoods. It's about equal distance between Boston and NYC, but quiet enough to sleep like you're in the woods. Check out the site, amenities, and neighbors before you move your camper in and I'm sure you'll be happy.

We keep a camper at this place. We are in a quiet section and the seasonal price is more reasonable than others we have checked. Our main reason for camping here is because my husband keeps a boat at a nearby marina.

Family has had a camper here for about 10 years now, love being able to come enjoy the summer with family and friends. Great spot, awesome "neighborhood" and even a pool for the kiddos. Everyone here are very welcoming and good company. Perfect location, Not far from Misquamicut Beach. Highly recommended!!!
