Grandview Camping & Cottages Introduce

For residents of Connecticut looking to escape the daily grind without leaving the state, Grandview Camping & Cottages in Moodus offers a nostalgic and serene getaway. Nestled in the rolling hills of the Connecticut River Valley, this family-owned and operated campground has a rich history that dates back to the early 20th century. Once part of the legendary "Catskills of Connecticut" era when Moodus was a premier vacation destination, Grandview has evolved from a grand resort into a peaceful sanctuary for modern campers. Today, it stands as a testament to simpler times, focusing on natural beauty and quiet relaxation rather than high-decibel entertainment and arcades.

The atmosphere at Grandview is intentionally tranquil. The owners have cultivated an environment where the "grand view" of the Connecticut countryside remains the primary attraction. It is a place where you can listen to the wind in the trees, enjoy a book by the pool, or gather with friends around a crackling campfire under a dark, starry sky. For local users in Connecticut, it represents a nearby haven that feels like a complete departure from suburban life, making it a popular choice for weekend warriors and long-term seasonal visitors alike.

What is worth choosing Grandview Camping & Cottages? For the discerning Connecticut camper, the choice comes down to the quality of the environment. In a world where many campgrounds are becoming increasingly commercialized and loud, Grandview offers a "quiet campground" experience. This philosophy makes it the ideal choice for those who want to "slow down"—a value the owners believe is beneficial for both adults and children. The absence of a playground or arcade is not a lack of service, but a deliberate choice to foster a more natural, focused connection with family and the surroundings.

Furthermore, the versatility of the site as both a campground and an event venue makes it a standout. You can host a beautiful outdoor wedding at the gazebo and have your guests stay on-site in either their own RVs or the charming cottages. The blend of modern clean facilities with vintage charm and spectacular views provides a unique aesthetic that is hard to find elsewhere. Whether you are coming for the excellent birding opportunities in the area, the local theater, or simply to enjoy a quiet night by a campfire, Grandview provides a high-quality, local experience that honors the historic legacy of Moodus as a place of rest and renewal.

It's a quiet campground. There are restaurants, a small grocery store and gas station close by. The pool is always clean and well maintained. Basketball hoops, best for tennis/ badminton and pickleball. Excellent views. WiFi has become better for reception.

The staff was very helpful and nice. We stayed one night, 3 adults and a toddler. Big lawns, well kept, very quiet. The pool seems nice although we didnt go in. We especially liked the restrooms and showers. They were clean, new, spacious and equiped.A good experience.

Came Oct, 2025 We were on the road for a month and a half. Need to do laundry. They have NO Laundry room. They proceeded to hand me a card with the nearest Laundromat 27 minutes away in another town. Told me they were on a well water so they couldn't. But they had a pool guess she thought that didn't take water. Also there is very little shade to no shade in the campground area. What they have is clean and neatly kept. Give it a 4 out of 10

Bad experience, I do not recommend it. The manager came to our space at every moment, we felt like we were in a prison with many rules. He charged us 90 dollars extra because a group of people we know put up an extra tent and they did not want to pay him. He charged it to our group just because we knew those people. It is illogical because each person has to take responsibility for their actions, but the manager only wanted his 90 dollars, it did not matter who paid them. Very disappointed. I went twice but I will not return again.

Great, clean and peaceful. The pool was awesome too! But the staff were exceptionally helpful and down to earth. I will be back!
