Markham Meadows Campground Introduce
For residents of Connecticut seeking a quintessential New England camping experience, Markham Meadows Campground in East Hampton serves as a premier destination. Spanning over 100 acres of picturesque landscape, this family-run campground is nestled among rolling hills, historic stone walls, and lush meadows. It offers a unique blend of rustic charm and modern convenience, making it a favorite for those who want to escape the urban sprawl of Hartford or New Haven without traveling out of state. The atmosphere is centered on a welcoming, community-oriented spirit where "quiet and serene" are the standard, rather than the exception. Whether you are a seasonal camper looking for a long-term summer home or a weekend traveler exploring the hidden gems of Middlesex County, this campground provides a versatile and friendly home base.
The property is steeped in local character, featuring one of the region's oldest barns and a layout that respects the natural topography of the Connecticut countryside. Unlike corporate-owned parks, Markham Meadows maintains a "family atmosphere" that is frequently praised by visitors for its cleanliness and attentive management. The park is designed to facilitate both relaxation and active recreation, ensuring that whether you want to lounge by the water or explore the wooded trails, your needs are met. Its location in central Connecticut makes it an ideal spot for "staycations," providing a true getaway feel just a short drive from most major towns in the Nutmeg State.
Conveniently located at 9 Markham Road, East Hampton, CT 06424, USA, Markham Meadows Campground is easily accessible from various parts of Connecticut. For those traveling from the Hartford area, it is approximately a 25-to-30-minute drive, while visitors from the shoreline or New Haven can reach the grounds in about 40 to 45 minutes. The route often takes campers through some of the state's most scenic backroads, setting the tone for a peaceful retreat. Specifically, the campground is located just south of Route 66 and east of Route 196, making it a straightforward destination for those hauling RVs or travel trailers.
Accessibility is a major focus for the facility, ensuring that all guests can enjoy the natural beauty of the meadows and ponds. The campground features a wheelchair-accessible entrance, as well as dedicated wheelchair-accessible parking lots and restroom facilities. Once on-site, the layout provides easy navigation to central hubs like the general store, the pool, and the activity pond. While the terrain includes beautiful natural elements like woods and hills, the main thoroughfares and common areas are maintained to accommodate a wide range of mobility needs, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for the whole family.

What makes Markham Meadows Campground worth choosing is its unwavering commitment to a "no loud music after hours" policy, which ensures a serene and respectful environment for everyone. In a world of busy, noisy vacation spots, the tranquility of this family-run park is a breath of fresh air. It is a place where you can actually hear the sounds of nature and the crackle of a campfire. For parents, the campground is worth choosing because it provides a safe, contained space where kids can be kids—fishing for catfish with hot dogs, playing in the sand, or jumping off the pond dock—while parents relax in the "family atmosphere" that defines the site.
Furthermore, the value of having both a pool and multiple ponds cannot be overstated. It provides a variety of aquatic experiences that cater to different preferences, from the controlled environment of a pool to the natural adventure of the swimming pond. The staff's dedication to maintenance—from the clean bathrooms to the well-kept sites—ensures that your stay is comfortable from start to finish. For Connecticut residents who want a professional, friendly, and genuinely scenic place to park their RV or spend a weekend in a cabin, Markham Meadows Campground is a top-tier choice that honors the best traditions of New England camping.

Unsafe and Unsanitary, AVOID AT ALL COSTS ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE FAMILY WITH YOU!
Just spent a weekend here. We were really happy with the entire experience. The sites were in good shape and a good size. The staff was friendly and helpful. They had a bunch of activities centered around an early Halloween including trick-or-treating, a hay ride (no hay, probably good for allergies), pumpkin painting, and a band. Really well done. Seems like a lot of seasonal campers, but it certainly wasn't cliquey and everyone was friendly. We have stayed in a few other campgrounds pretty close by and had good experiences but this became our favorite.
We stayed in the King George’s cabin and it was perfect for any “glamper”! Very clean and comfortable. Nice pool and lake- lots of fun for kids. Staff was wonderful and very kind. Campground was a great central location to lots of hiking and sightseeing in the surrounding areas. We really enjoyed our stay!
