Granite Hill Lodge and Campground Introduce
For New York residents looking to escape the relentless pace of the city or the busy suburbs, Granite Hill Lodge and Campground offers a breath of fresh Adirondack air. Situated in the picturesque town of Fort Ann, this destination is much more than a standard RV park; it is a meticulously reinvented 130-acre retreat designed for those who value peace, leisure, and a direct connection with nature. Whether you are a seasoned RVer or a family looking for a weekend in a cozy lodge, this property serves as a serene gateway to the great outdoors. The park is characterized by its quiet atmosphere, away from the more crowded tourist hubs, yet perfectly positioned to offer the best of the region's natural beauty.
The philosophy at Granite Hill is centered on "simplified camping." This means providing the essential modern comforts—like clean, newly renovated facilities—without sacrificing the authentic feeling of being in the woods. Local New Yorkers often find themselves choosing between overly commercialized resorts or primitive sites with no amenities; Granite Hill fills the gap by offering a boutique-style campground experience. With only 20 campsites shared across a vast private landscape, guests are guaranteed a level of privacy and space that is increasingly rare in the popular Lake George corridor. It is a place where the sound of the wind through the trees replaces the hum of traffic, making it a top choice for a restorative getaway.
Location and accessibility are key highlights for visitors traveling from across the state. Located at 89 Clay Hill Rd in Fort Ann, the campground is nestled in the scenic foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. It is remarkably easy to reach for travelers coming up the I-87 corridor, yet it feels worlds away from the highway. For those coming from the New York City area or the Hudson Valley, the drive north provides a beautiful transition into the rugged landscapes of Washington County. The property is also conveniently located just 20 minutes from the village of Lake George and about 40 minutes from the historic attractions of Saratoga Springs, giving guests the best of both worlds: secluded camping and easy access to major regional landmarks.
Accessibility on the grounds has been a priority for the owners. The park features a wheelchair-accessible entrance and dedicated parking, ensuring that all guests can enjoy the facilities. The sites are designed to accommodate a variety of vehicles, with specific pull-through and back-in options available to make the arrival process as smooth as possible. Additionally, the property is situated on the Champlain Canalway bike trail, part of the extensive Empire State Trail system. This allows guests to leave the car behind and explore miles of scenic paths that connect New York's major regions, making it an ideal hub for cyclists and hikers alike.

What makes Granite Hill worth choosing over other options in the Lake George region is the palpable sense of care and community. As a family-owned business, the owners are deeply invested in the guest experience, often going out of their way to help with leveling an RV or providing local recommendations. This personal investment translates into a property that is exceptionally well-maintained. While many large-scale RV parks can feel impersonal and crowded, Granite Hill preserves the "small campground" feel where you can actually hear the sounds of nature at night. The cleanliness of the bathrooms and showers is a consistent point of praise from real customers, which is often a deciding factor for families and long-term travelers.
Furthermore, the value proposition at Granite Hill is excellent. With reasonable nightly rates and the legendary "all-you-can-burn" firewood fee, it allows families to enjoy a high-quality vacation without the hidden costs often found at luxury resorts. The versatility of the property—offering a year-round lodge alongside a seasonal campground—makes it a viable destination regardless of the time of year. For New Yorkers looking for a place that feels like a hidden gem, Granite Hill Lodge and Campground provides the perfect balance of Adirondack wilderness and home-style comfort. It is a location that invites you to slow down, look at the stars, and remember why the New York outdoors are so special.

Fantastic place. So serene and peaceful. The owners, Kelly and Ryan, are super helpful and friendly. The shower block is clean and spacious, and there is a short walk on the property to the most stunning view. Also, the $10 flat fee for all the firewood you need for your stay is an absolute steal.
Wonderful campground! Quiet and several short trails to lookouts where you can gaze at the mountains and stars. One lookout has a cool ski lift chair! Perfect location for Lake George and areas in Vermont and Massachusetts. The Empire State Trail is right there and is a nice trail for bikes, walking, or running. We stayed for 17 days, have a class A and were in a pull through site and needed extra boards under the wheels to level us. But the site was so nice, we didn't want to move to a back-in site that was more flat. Kelly was an amazing host and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back!
This trip was our second time staying here. This campground is clean, quiet, has spacious sites with water and electricity, the best bathrooms that I've come across on many camping trips and the owners are nice and help when needed. There are 2 look outs to view from that have gorgeous views. I can't say enough positives about this campground. We will be back next year.
I camped here with my dog for two nights and had a great experience. The bathhouse was incredibly clean—definitely the cleanest bathroom I’ve encountered on a camping trip! A hot shower was available as well. You will hear train sounds from time to time, but it didn’t bother me at all. I needed help from the owner, and they resolved the issue immediately. Communication was excellent! The location is also fantastic, being only about 20 minutes from Lake George and Glens Falls. Highly recommend!
1st time staying here. The people here are very friendly. Nice clean bathroom and showers. Cabin was very nice. Nice kitchen with all needs to cook. Bathroom was a nice bonus. Nice out door amenities. Very quiet. Thank you for a great experience.
