Hemlock Acres Campground Introduce

For those seeking a genuine outdoor experience in the heart of the Keystone State, Hemlock Acres Campground offers a perfect blend of seclusion and community. Nestled in the rolling hills of north-central Pennsylvania, specifically in the charming area of Coburn, this campground provides a sanctuary for those looking to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with nature. Spread across 150 acres of lush forest and open fields, the property is a "little piece of heaven" that remains remarkably close to the cultural and athletic energy of State College. It is a destination where the morning air is crisp, the hemlock trees provide a deep, cooling shade, and the sounds of the local wildlife replace the hum of city traffic.

Hemlock Acres Campground is currently under the dedicated care of owners Denise and Brian, along with Denise's father, Butch. Their hands-on approach and commitment to continuous improvement have revitalized the park, making it a favorite for both seasonal residents and weekend travelers. The park caters to a diverse range of camping styles, from those who prefer the rugged simplicity of a tent under the stars to RVers looking for a stable home base for the season. The atmosphere is notably peaceful, often attracting retirees and families who appreciate a respectful, quiet environment. Whether you are here to fish the legendary local waters or to find a safe spot for your kids to play, the management ensures a secure and welcoming stay for everyone.

Location and accessibility are two of the primary reasons why Hemlock Acres is a top choice for Pennsylvania residents. Located at 128 Hemlock Dr, Coburn, PA 16832, the campground is approximately 20 miles east of State College. This makes it an ideal "overflow" location for Penn State University football weekends or graduation ceremonies, allowing visitors to enjoy the excitement of Beaver Stadium while retreating to a quiet forest setting at night. The park is reachable via scenic backroads that showcase the beauty of the Pennsylvania countryside, yet it is close enough to major routes to make the drive manageable from cities like Williamsport, Altoona, or even Harrisburg.

The campground also serves as a gateway to some of the finest natural attractions in the region. It is situated just one mile from the world-famous Penn's Creek, a renowned destination for fly-fishing enthusiasts seeking wild trout. Additionally, the proximity to Poe Valley State Park and Poe Paddy State Park means that miles of additional hiking, swimming, and boating are just a short drive away. The entrance to the park is designed for ease of use, featuring a wheelchair-accessible entrance, a well-lit parking lot, and accessible facilities, ensuring that every member of the family can navigate the grounds comfortably.

Hemlock Acres Campground provides a robust set of services designed to make long-term and short-term stays equally convenient. The management has recently invested in significant infrastructure upgrades to improve the guest experience, including modernized maintenance services and refreshed communal spaces. By focusing on the essential needs of campers, they allow you to focus on the joy of the outdoors.

  • Full RV camping accommodations including dedicated electric and water hookups.
  • A variety of tent sites ranging from primitive spots deep in the hemlocks to sites closer to amenities.
  • Rustic cabin rentals that are bright, clean, and well-equipped for families of varying sizes.

  • Professional on-site management that ensures property safety and guest assistance at all hours.
  • Flexible payment options including the acceptance of major credit cards and debit cards.

The highlights of Hemlock Acres Campground revolve around its natural beauty and family-friendly amenities. The park is a haven for wildlife lovers; it is common to see deer wandering through the camp, and rare sightings of the local bear add to the authentic forest experience. For those who want to stay active, the campground features a variety of on-site recreational options that keep both children and adults entertained throughout their stay.

  • An in-ground swimming pool that serves as a popular cooling-off spot during hot summer days.
  • A dedicated playground area featuring slides and swings for younger visitors.

What is worth choosing about Hemlock Acres Campground is the rare combination of deep forest seclusion and modern hospitality. In an era where many campgrounds are becoming overcrowded and noisy, Hemlock Acres remains a bastion of peace and quiet. It is worth choosing for the attentive service provided by Denise and Brian, who go above and beyond to help new RVers feel at home. It is also a premier choice for those who want to experience the "real" Pennsylvania—where you can spend the morning fishing for trout, the afternoon swimming in a pool, and the evening watching for wildlife by the campfire.

Choosing this campground also means supporting a family-run business that is clearly invested in the future of the local environment. Their "leave no trace" philosophy and dedication to safety make it a responsible choice for those who value the preservation of the Penn's Woods. Whether you are a Penn State fan, an avid fisherman, or a family looking for a safe place for your children to experience nature, Hemlock Acres Campground delivers an authentic and revitalizing experience. Would you like me to help you look up the current fishing regulations for Penn's Creek or the schedule for the next PSU home game to help you plan your visit?

Denise was so kind booking and Brian was so kind when we arrived. We spent our first night RVing at Hemlock Acres and even though it was a short stay, it was a great campground for night 1. Brian was extremely helpful getting us settled in at night! Highly recommend

I have a seasonal spot here. The new owners, husband and wife, Denise and Brian and Denise's dad Butch, are making tremendous improvements including a brand new "honey truck" that pumps your camper tanks clean with latest equipment. Also new private bathroom and showers. This Campground is very private and secluded with local fishing in Penn's creek, and exploring nearby Poe Valley State park. This Campground is close to PSU for football games if interested. This Campground has a pool for cooling off on hot days. It is also pet friendly. There is a local bear that I enjoy rare sightings. However, as in any outdoor PA forest, keep your children close, and follow state park guidelines on bear awareness and cautions. Deer are sometimes seen in camp. Most seasonal guests are older retirees and friendly. This camp is peaceful especially during the work week when fewer guest in camp. The owners are familiar with all seasonal campers and your property is safe. Low chances of anyone hooking up and stealing your camper without owners being aware. Recently this Campground has expanded spots. As with any Campground or woods visit, be courteous and leave no trace of human litter including cigarette butts which are harmful to wildlife.Enjoy your visit.

My family and I have been camping here for 40 years. I have lots of great memories from Hemlock Acres. There's beautiful trails, a pool, an arcade, and playground. Over the mountain is a beautiful lake where I spent many years fishing with friends
