Hide-A-Way Campsites Introduce

Hide-A-Way Campsites offers a quintessential Upstate New York outdoor experience, nestled in the scenic Central Leatherstocking Region. Located on 28 sprawling acres between the majestic Catskill and Adirondack Mountains, this family-owned campground is designed for those who seek a balance of recreational activity and rural tranquility. Since changing ownership in late 2021, the park has continued its tradition of providing a clean, well-maintained environment that feels like a hidden sanctuary. For New York residents looking to escape the suburban sprawl, Hide-A-Way serves as an ideal home base for exploring the natural wonders and historical landmarks of Schoharie County.

The atmosphere at Hide-A-Way is intentionally kept quiet and friendly, emphasizing a community feel where families can relax without the noise often associated with larger commercial resorts. The property features a mix of wooded and open sites, providing options for those who want deep shade or those who prefer to soak up the sun. With a focus on cleanliness and attentive service, the hosts, Paul, Kim, and Jaimie, work to ensure that every guest—from first-time tent campers to seasoned RV travelers—feels welcomed and supported throughout their stay. Whether you are listening to the evening "peepers" by the fire or taking a stroll through the manicured trails, the park lives up to its name as a true getaway.

Location and accessibility are major draws for regional visitors. Situated at 107 Janice Lane in Central Bridge, the campground is remarkably easy to reach, located just minutes from Interstate 88 (Exit 23). This strategic position makes it a convenient stop for travelers from Albany, which is only 30 minutes away, or for those coming from the Mohawk Valley and Southern Tier. Once you arrive, the facility is designed with accessibility in mind, offering wheelchair-accessible entrances and parking lots. The park’s layout features strictly enforced 5 MPH gravel roads, ensuring a safe environment for children and pedestrians as they navigate between the various amenities.

The services offered at Hide-A-Way Campsites are comprehensive, catering to a wide range of camping preferences. The park features 43 RV sites with full hookups, alongside dedicated tent areas for a more primitive experience. For the modern traveler, onsite services include professional propane refilling and a well-stocked country store that serves as the heart of the camp. The management is also available for assistance with site leveling and setup, ensuring that even large rigs up to 42 feet can be accommodated comfortably in the park’s pull-through or back-in sites.

  • Full RV hookups including electric (30/50 amp), water, and sewer connections.
  • Eleven dedicated tent sites, including options with water and electric service.
  • Clean, modernized restrooms and free hot showers for all registered guests.
  • On-site laundry facilities equipped with multiple washers and dryers.
  • Propane fill station and firewood sales available at the main office.
  • High-speed Wi-Fi internet access throughout the campground.
  • Secure, gravel roads and on-site parking for up to two cars per site.
  • Sanitary dump station for guest convenience and rig maintenance.
  • Online reservation system and acceptance of all major credit and debit cards.

Features and highlights of the property focus on family-friendly recreation and natural immersion. The heated in-ground pool is a centerpiece for summer fun, operating from mid-June through Labor Day, while the stocked fishing pond offers a peaceful "catch and release" experience for anglers of all ages. For those who enjoy staying active, the park includes several sports courts and a system of hiking trails that wind through the 28-acre forest, providing ample opportunity for wildlife viewing and photography. The property is also pet-friendly, welcoming well-behaved dogs and providing plenty of space for them to enjoy the outdoors with their owners.

  • Heated in-ground swimming pool with a sun deck and seating area.
  • Stocked fishing pond dedicated to catch-and-release sport.
  • Scenic hiking and walking trails through the park’s wooded acreage.
  • Modern playground area featuring slides, swings, and climbing structures.
  • Recreation hall and game room for indoor entertainment and community events.

  • Planned community activities and themed weekends during the peak season.
  • Dog-friendly environment with designated areas for walking leashed pets.

For those planning a visit or seeking more details on seasonal site availability, the management can be reached through their local office in Central Bridge. The physical address is 107 Janice Ln, Central Bridge, NY 12035, USA. To speak with the staff directly for reservations or inquiries, you may call (518) 868-9975 or use the mobile contact at +1 518-868-9975. The park typically opens for the season in early May and continues through mid-October, with reservation lines opening in February each year.

What is worth choosing about Hide-A-Way Campsites is the exceptional balance of privacy and proximity. It is rare to find a park that feels so "tucked away" in the woods while remaining just a 45-minute drive from major attractions like Cooperstown. The "private" feel of the individual sites—many of which are surrounded by natural foliage—makes it a standout choice for couples seeking a quiet retreat. At the same time, the robust list of amenities like the heated pool and game room ensures that families with children have everything they need to stay entertained without ever having to leave the grounds.

Additionally, the commitment of the owners to maintain a "quiet campground" environment is highly valued by regular visitors. The strict enforcement of quiet hours and speed limits creates a safe, predictable atmosphere that is perfect for young families or retirees. By choosing Hide-A-Way, you are choosing a well-managed, clean, and beautiful slice of the Schoharie Valley. Whether you are here to explore the nearby caverns or simply to watch the stars by a campfire, this campground provides a reliable and welcoming foundation for your New York outdoor adventures.

Beautiful, clean and quiet campground. Our site was so private feeling! Only change I would suggest is have the store open at set times instead of ringing bell for owner. Otherwise highly recommend a stay here!

A really well kept campground ! Had an awesome time. Very peaceful at night. The bathrooms and showers were very clean! The service was 10/10 along with the hosts being very welcoming and friendly. Close to two different underground caverns. The campground also hosted fiesta night that exceeded expectations. Would recommend this campground to anyone!
