High Pines RV Park Introduce

For those living in Pennsylvania and seeking a serene outdoor retreat that combines the beauty of the "Big Woods" with the convenience of modern amenities, High Pines RV Park in Kane stands as a premier choice. This park is not just a place to park an RV; it is a well-groomed sanctuary nestled right along the edge of the Allegheny National Forest. Known for its towering pines and peaceful atmosphere, High Pines has recently undergone a revitalization under the dedicated ownership of Jack and Debbie Knapp. Their commitment to improving the guest experience is evident in every corner of the park, from the upgraded infrastructure to the warm, personal welcome every camper receives.

The park is designed to cater to a wide range of travelers, from "snowbirds" heading south to local families looking for a weekend escape. Unlike many seasonal campgrounds in the northern tier of Pennsylvania, High Pines RV Park remains open year-round, making it a vital hub for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy all four seasons. Whether you are coming to witness the vibrant autumn foliage, go snowmobiling in the winter, or hike the lush green trails in the summer, the park serves as a comfortable and reliable home base. Its reputation for being a quiet, "easy-going" destination makes it particularly attractive to those who want to avoid the noise of larger, more commercialized resorts.

Location and accessibility are among the park's strongest selling points. Situated at 3183 US-219, Kane, PA 16735, the campground is exceptionally easy to find. It is located just a half-mile north of the intersection of Route 219 and Route 6 at Lantz Corners. This strategic positioning makes it a convenient stop for travelers coming from I-80 or I-86. Despite its proximity to major routes, the park’s layout and natural tree cover provide a significant buffer, maintaining a quiet, forest-like environment. The entrance and facilities are designed for ease of use, featuring wheelchair-accessible entrances, parking lots, and restrooms, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the beauty of the Pennsylvania Wilds.

The services offered at High Pines RV Park are comprehensive, focusing on the needs of modern RVers while maintaining a rustic charm. The owners have invested heavily in infrastructure to ensure that even the largest "Big Rig" can navigate and stay comfortably. The service list includes:

  • Full RV hookups including water, sewer, and tiered electrical service (20/30/50 amp).
  • Spacious pull-through sites, many exceeding 80 to 100 feet in length, making them ideal for large motorhomes and trailers.
  • Park-wide "blazing fast" free Wi-Fi, powered by high-capacity fiber-optic connections to keep you connected in the forest.
  • Clean and well-maintained laundry facilities with modern, high-capacity machines.
  • On-site LP gas filling station for convenient propane refills.
  • Two conveniently located dump stations with rinse hoses for guests without full sewer hookups.
  • A dedicated mobile app for Android and iOS that provides guests with real-time park information, local attraction guides, and easy check-in.

The features and highlights of the park extend beyond the utility hookups. The management has curated a selection of activities and amenities that emphasize family bonding and outdoor recreation. Some of the most notable highlights include:

  • Direct access to the Knox & Kane Rail Trail, located less than a quarter-mile away, perfect for walking, biking, and wildlife viewing.
  • Large mowed fields designated for recreational sports like kickball, soccer, and kite flying.
  • A family-friendly playground and an indoor game room featuring billiards, ping-pong, and foosball.
  • An enclosed pavilion and clubhouse used for community events, stargazing gatherings, and social meet-ups.
  • A spacious, fenced-in dog run (over one acre), reflecting the park's pet-friendly philosophy where dogs are judged by their behavior, not their breed.
  • Proximity to world-class attractions, including the Kinzua Bridge State Park (the "Skywalk") and the hiking trails of the Allegheny National Forest.
  • A variety of lodging options, including dry log cabins that sleep up to four people for those without an RV.

For those planning a visit or needing more information about seasonal rates and site availability, the office is known for its helpfulness. You can reach the management through the following contact details:

When choosing a place to stay in the Kane area, High Pines RV Park is worth choosing because of the balance it strikes between nature and hospitality. The new owners have successfully transitioned the park into a modern facility without losing the quiet, tree-lined character that gave it its name. The "Big Rig Friendly" design is a significant plus for Pennsylvania travelers who often struggle to find level, long sites in the rugged terrain of the Allegheny region. Here, you don't have to worry about tight turns or unlevel ground; the sites are wide, flat, and easy to access.

Furthermore, the park’s commitment to year-round operation makes it an invaluable resource for the local community. Whether you are an elk watcher in the fall or a snowmobiler in the winter, having a reliable place with full hookups and high-speed internet in the middle of the forest is a rare find. The personal touches, like the owners personally guiding you to your site or providing tips on local restaurants like those in downtown Kane, create an atmosphere that feels more like a community than a commercial business. By choosing High Pines, you are supporting a local family business that is actively investing back into the Pennsylvania landscape to provide a better experience for all.

Ultimately, a stay at High Pines RV Park is an invitation to slow down. It’s a place where you can start your day with a bike ride on the Knox & Kane trail, spend your afternoon exploring the Kinzua Skywalk, and end your evening with a quiet campfire under a canopy of stars. The park's blend of modern technology—like its impressive virtual tour and park app—and old-fashioned hospitality ensures that every guest, whether a first-timer or a "regular," feels right at home in the heart of the Pennsylvania Wilds.

I'd like to say first of all that the owners are very pleasant, kind, and helpful folks and we enjoyed chatting with them. They bought the campground a few years back and they are are working hard to expand and upgrade this older campground and are doing a great job of it. The property itself is a beautiful, quiet and restful place. The location was excellent. There is a lot to do within a short distance from the campground. The full hook-up campsite was more than adequate for our needs. We used the laundry room facilities which was clean and well maintained. I wanted to give a five star rating for everything... I would give a four and one half if I could. But couldn't rightly give 5 stars as I found that the bathrooms are still in need of some work. I know the owners are working to make improvements and they will get there. I also felt the check-in process was a little cumbersome using a number of different websites and apps to register and check-in. But when I called, the owner was very helpful in getting me through the process. Some reviews say there are a lot of rules, but I appreciate those being in place as it makes a better atmosphere for everybody. I found the rules to be reasonable. If we're ever back in the area we will be sure to stay again.

New owners are upgrading and expanding this beautiful hidden gem. Some of the spots have a slope, but fairly level by the power poles. Many pull thru sites over 80 feet long . We originally booked for 3 days, it was so nice we stayed for 4 more days.

This campground was so nice and peaceful. The colors of fall were really beautiful there! We camp with our 2 kids and 2 dogs and we all enjoyed our time there. There was a lot of space for dog walking, and the kids loved the barrel ride and wagon ride looking for Sasquatch! The owners, Jack and Debbie, were such genuine, kind people. From interacting with them, it was clear that they truly loved owning the campground and were having fun with it. Debbie was so kind to my kids who can be a lot at times. She came around several times while we were there to check on us and see if we needed anything. My kids said this was their favorite campground! It's a great place to just enjoy the beauty of nature and relax! We would definitely stay there again and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice campground to stay at!
