Holloway Beach Introduce
Holloway Beach is a unique and storied campground located in the historic town of Charlestown, Maryland. Nestled directly along the banks of the North East River, this destination serves as a nostalgic retreat for Maryland residents who value a simpler, community-focused outdoor experience. Unlike modern high-end resorts, Holloway Beach prides itself on a "home away from home" atmosphere that has been cultivated over decades. For many local families, this isn't just a place to park an RV; it is a multi-generational "happy place" where neighbors become extended family. The campground’s identity is deeply intertwined with the maritime heritage of Cecil County, offering a front-row seat to the natural beauty of the Upper Chesapeake Bay tributaries.
The character of Holloway Beach is defined by its long-term residents and its unparalleled access to the water. The community is predominantly composed of seasonal campers who maintain their trailers and cottages year-round, creating a stable and familiar environment. While it retains a rustic and weathered charm that reflects its long history, the primary draw remains the serene waterfront setting. It is a place where life slows down to the pace of the tides, and where the most important activity of the day might be watching the sunset over the river or sharing a meal with long-time friends at a neighboring site. For those in the Maryland region seeking an authentic, unpretentious slice of coastal life, Holloway Beach offers a rare glimpse into the traditional camping culture of the Eastern Shore.
In terms of location and accessibility, Holloway Beach is situated at 419 Charlestown Place in Charlestown, MD. This placement makes it highly accessible for residents of nearby Elkton, North East, and Perryville, while still being a manageable drive from major metropolitan areas like Baltimore and Philadelphia. Charlestown itself is a quiet, historic town that provides a peaceful backdrop for the campground. Visitors arriving by car will find the route straightforward, as the town is located just a short distance from Route 272 and Route 7. The site’s position on a peninsula provides a sense of seclusion, though it remains within reach of modern conveniences.
The facility is designed primarily for seasonal stays, and its layout prioritizes views of the water. For visitors and residents, the campground offers on-site parking and clear access to the private beach area. While the terrain is natural and rugged, efforts are made to ensure that the main common areas remain reachable. For those looking to explore beyond the campground gates, several local marinas, including the Charlestown Marina and North East Marina, are located in the immediate vicinity, making it an ideal base for boaters and fishing enthusiasts. The town’s public boat ramp is also nearby, ensuring that getting onto the water is a seamless process for any resident with a vessel.

Had a trailer here at this camp ground now for 30 years and we are all one big family! I would recommend this place to anyone. Me and my daughter call it our happy place ❤️
We drove by to tour to become seasonal campers and we did not even enter the facility because of the vibe it threw. No one contacted us back, so we drove 3 hours to check it out. While it is right on the water, it seems just cluttered with many decade old campers. This is another one that gives off that “trailer trash” type vibe.We know nothing else about this place otherwise due to no response.
Greatest people more fun then a bag full of dice!!!!
Born and raised in this small town its sad to see all the good things that Made it feel like home being replaced by big houses and no more privacy or letting the kids play in the yard bc the houses there building are just as big as the lots there putting them it will. Never be the same again.
Well to be honest I haven't been here properly since I was 8 or 10 years old and right now I'm out at age I rather not share So in other words it had been quite some time since I have been to Holloway beach needless to say it has totally changed From when I was a little girl mostly privately owned so but I made the trip just to say old memories good memories.
