Charlestown Manor Beach And Campground Introduce

Charlestown Manor Beach and Campground is a premier seasonal destination for Maryland residents looking to enjoy the natural beauty of the North East River. Located in the historic and scenic Cecil County, this unique facility combines the rustic charm of a traditional campground with the recreational appeal of a well-maintained public beach. Known among locals as a "family-oriented picnic grove," the site offers a tranquil escape where visitors can trade the suburban noise for the gentle lapping of river waves and the shade of mature trees. Whether you are planning a weekend camping trip or just looking for a clean, affordable spot for a day at the beach, Charlestown Manor provides a welcoming environment tailored specifically for families and outdoor enthusiasts.

The spirit of Charlestown Manor Beach and Campground is rooted in its commitment to "good clean fun." As a seasonal venue, typically operating from Memorial Day through Labor Day, it serves as a cornerstone of summertime tradition for the North East community. The management, led by owner Kimberlee, emphasizes a high standard of cleanliness and safety, ensuring that the sand is groomed and the facilities remain fresh for every guest. It is important for visitors to note that the environment is strictly alcohol-free, a policy that helps maintain a respectful and kid-friendly atmosphere throughout the day. For those in the Maryland region seeking a location that feels exclusive yet remains accessible to the public, this beach and campground stands out as a hidden gem along the Upper Chesapeake Bay tributaries.

Location and accessibility are key components of the appeal at Charlestown Manor. Situated at 7 Edgewater Avenue in North East, Maryland, the campground is easily reachable from major regional hubs like Elkton, Havre de Grace, and even the greater Baltimore area. The drive into North East is often described as scenic, passing through areas rich in Maryland history and maritime culture. Once at the site, visitors will find that the facility has been designed with inclusivity in mind. The entrance and the parking lot are fully wheelchair accessible, and the seating areas are thoughtfully arranged to accommodate guests with varying mobility needs. This makes it one of the more accessible waterfront spots in the county, ensuring that everyone in the family can participate in the festivities.

Parking at Charlestown Manor is streamlined but can become quite busy during peak weekend hours. There is a dedicated on-site parking lot, and visitors should be prepared for weekend parking fees, which contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the beach and grounds. Because of the popularity of the location, especially on warm Saturday afternoons, local regulars often recommend arriving early to secure a prime spot in the shaded picnic grove or close to the water's edge. This strategic location on the river means the water is generally calm and shallow, providing a safer environment for swimming and wading compared to the more turbulent waters of the open bay.

  • Overnight camping sites suitable for tents, RVs, and campers.
  • Public beach access with groomed sand and a designated swimming area.
  • Fully equipped snack shack offering beach favorites like burgers, fries, and ice cream at affordable prices.
  • Clean public restrooms and changing rooms that are regularly serviced.
  • A free air compressor station for visitors to easily inflate water tubes and rafts.
  • Shaded picnic groves featuring sturdy picnic tables for group meals.
  • Fresh running water available for guest use across the campground.
  • On-site staff and parking attendants to assist with logistics and guest needs.

The features and highlights of Charlestown Manor Beach and Campground extend beyond just the water. The facility is a haven for those who love traditional outdoor social activities. The volleyball court is a popular spot for friendly competition, while the playground serves as a central hub for children to burn off energy when they aren't in the river. For those who prefer a slower pace, the picnic grove offers a cool respite from the sun, allowing for long afternoons of reading, chatting, and enjoying the river breeze. The "lazy river" style floats are a local favorite, made even more convenient by the on-site air compressor, allowing guests to jump straight into the water without the hassle of manual pumping.

  • Kid-friendly environment with a dedicated playground and shallow swimming areas.
  • Extensive picnic highlights including shaded areas and numerous picnic tables.
  • Competitive volleyball court for active recreation and team play.
  • High standards of cleanliness, particularly noted in the fresh-smelling restroom facilities.
  • Scenic views of the North East River, perfect for photography and nature watching.
  • Wheelchair accessible seating and facilities to ensure comfort for all visitors.
  • Affordable day-use pricing ($5 per person) making it a budget-friendly local outing.
  • A strict no-alcohol policy that fosters a peaceful and family-centric atmosphere.

What is worth choosing about Charlestown Manor Beach and Campground is the exceptional value and the sense of community it offers. In an era where many waterfront destinations have become prohibitively expensive or overly commercialized, this site remains a bastion of affordable Maryland summer fun. For a nominal entry fee of $5 per person, families gain access to a pristine environment where the owners take a personal interest in the guest experience. The 10/10 rating often given by local children is a testament to the fun that can be had in such a well-managed space. It is a place where "Campers only" signs are respected, and the staff works tirelessly to ensure that every visitor—from the infant (who enters for free) to the seasoned camper—feels at home.

Furthermore, the cleanliness of the beach and the freshness of the restrooms are frequently highlighted by returning guests as some of the best in the region. When you choose Charlestown Manor, you are supporting a local business that prioritizes the environment and the comfort of its patrons. Whether you are there for the thrill of a volleyball game, the relaxation of a river float, or the simple joy of a sunset picnic, this North East staple delivers a high-quality experience that keeps Marylanders coming back year after year. If you value a quiet, clean, and family-focused beach day, there is simply no better choice in the Cecil County area.

Kimberlee, the owner, is wonderful, and the beach area is always clean. The bathrooms smell fresh, and the snack shack offers great food at good prices. The staff is friendly too. It's $5 per person (free for kids under 1) plus $5 for parking on weekends. While there are no alcohol signs, some visitors still bring it in, which is disrespectful. Similarly, some ignore "Campers only" signs. If prices rise next year, it's due to the actions of a few. I’ll keep enjoying my favorite clean beach. Thank you!

Great place to take the family for a fun day on the river. For $5 a person you can enjoy a nice clean beach with restrooms and a snack shack. There is even a free air compressor to blow up all of your water inflatables. Plenty of trees as well for some shade on those hot days. My boys gave it a 10/10 and we will definitely be back.

unfortunately, this family owned business is not as "family oriented " as it portrays to be. my car was hit in their parking lot and the told both the police and the insurance compa that they had no footage of the incident. the husband who works the parking lot said he saw it and went after the car but wrote down an incorrect plate. It should be noted that there are several cameras on site. the wife was not trying to work with us and show us the cameras. she acted as if she was looking through the video and kept saying that the camera would jump from different angles when a car went by ( still should have been able to see the vehicle). the grandfather made a great comment and said " she's a nice lady, she was rushing home to her kids". call me crazy, but that means they knew who the lady was and covered it up. I'm very disappointed as this was a hit and run. my family and myself decided to try something new and visit the campground and support. and as pay back they couldn't even be decent enough to provide us the information so that my car could be fixed. instead I have to come out of pocket.

This place came highly recommended, and at first, I was thrilled to join the community. The people who live here are warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the ownership. After my father was tragically killed, I had no choice but to step back from an opportunity to buy the perfect place at the perfect price. I explained everything to the owner and was told I’d be kept on the list for the future. Over the next year, my family was hit with even more loss — including my mother and brothers-in-law, both untimely passing. Through it all, I stayed in touch, kept her updated, and made sure she knew I still wanted to be part of this community.Fast-forward to now: a friend tells me his place is available. I reach out to the owner immediately, only to be told it’s already taken. When I asked why I wasn’t contacted — as I had been promised — I was coldly told I was never put back on the list “because of what happened before.” To add insult, she told me if I wanted back on the list, there are 14–15 people ahead of me, and it could take years.Cold. Heartless. Completely detached from humanity. The residents are amazing, but the owner? She treats people like numbers, not humans — even when you’ve just buried your family members. It makes you wonder: if she shows this little compassion to potential residents, how well does she truly serve the community?

This place is nice and clean. Bathrooms and changing rooms plus a air compressor to blow up tubes. Parking is tight but well worth it 5 for 3 years and up free for 1-2 years old. Water is just right and not many rocks. Bring your own grill and no animals allowed.
