Houghton / Letchworth KOA Introduce

Houghton / Letchworth KOA Holiday stands as a cornerstone of outdoor recreation in the Western New York region, offering a serene escape for families, road trippers, and nature enthusiasts alike. Nestled on 100 acres of beautiful Allegany County landscape, this award-winning, women-owned campground provides a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern convenience. For many New Yorkers, it serves as the ultimate basecamp for exploring the "Grand Canyon of the East," Letchworth State Park, while providing enough on-site entertainment to keep children and adults engaged throughout their stay. The facility is meticulously maintained, with lush green spaces, wooded trails, and a gated entry that ensures a safe and peaceful environment for all guests.

The spirit of hospitality at this KOA Holiday is deeply personal. As a family-operated business, the staff and owners are frequently cited for going above and beyond to assist travelers, whether it is providing firewood directly to your site or helping coordinate emergency mechanical repairs for towing vehicles. This commitment to service creates a community atmosphere where visitors often feel like family rather than just customers. Whether you are looking for a quick overnight stop or a week-long summer vacation, the professional yet warm tone of the park makes it a standout destination in the competitive New York camping market.

Location and accessibility are two of the park's greatest assets. Situated at 7632 Centerville Rd in Houghton, NY, the campground is strategically located about 20 minutes from the southern entrance of Letchworth State Park. For travelers from Rochester, Buffalo, or even the Southern Tier, the route is straightforward, though the management wisely provides specific directions to help large rigs avoid some of the narrower, twisty local roads. The campground itself is designed with accessibility in mind, featuring a wheelchair-accessible parking lot and impeccably clean, accessible restroom and shower facilities. The terrain is relatively level compared to many hillside parks in the region, making it easier for guests with mobility concerns to navigate the grounds.

The services offered at Houghton / Letchworth KOA Holiday are comprehensive, designed to accommodate everything from primitive tent camping to the largest luxury motorhomes. The park features over 90 campsites, many of which are big-rig friendly and offer full hookups. A unique touch is the daily garbage pickup service, where staff collect bags left at the edge of the site, allowing you to focus entirely on relaxation. The on-site store is well-stocked with essentials, propane, and local treats, ensuring you never have to venture far for supplies.

  • Full RV hookup sites including water, sewer, and up to 50-amp electrical service.
  • Deluxe and camping cabins with heating and air conditioning for year-round comfort.
  • Dedicated family tent sites located in scenic, wooded areas.
  • On-site services including a well-equipped camp store and firewood delivery.
  • Gated entry with security codes to ensure a safe and private environment.
  • NFC mobile payment options alongside standard credit and debit card acceptance.
  • Daily trash collection directly from your campsite.
  • Professional assistance for guests facing vehicle or equipment issues.

The features and highlights of the park emphasize its status as a "Holiday" level KOA, meaning it is packed with recreational amenities that go beyond the basic camping experience. One of the most significant highlights is the dual-pool setup, which includes both a heated indoor pool and a saltwater outdoor pool. This ensures that even on rainy or cooler Western New York days, the swimming fun doesn't have to stop. For those traveling with four-legged companions, the park boasts one of the largest dog parks in the KOA system, complete with agility equipment and plenty of space for exercise.

  • Heated indoor pool and seasonal outdoor saltwater pool (Memorial Day to Labor Day).
  • Catch-and-release fishing pond perfect for children and novice anglers.
  • Spacious activity lodge featuring arcade games, billiards, and board games.
  • Large dog park (KampK9) with dedicated agility equipment.
  • Themed weekend activities including ceramics, hayrides, and holiday celebrations.
  • Outdoor sports facilities including basketball, sand volleyball, and horseshoe pits.
  • Modern playground and "Wacky Playhouse" for younger children.
  • Scenic hiking and walking paths that weave through 100 acres of woods and meadows.
  • Clean, unisex bathhouses that are frequently praised for their cleanliness and privacy.

For those planning a trip to the Houghton area, reservations are highly recommended, particularly during the peak summer months and the popular fall foliage season. The management is available via phone and mobile to assist with site selection or to provide local travel tips. You can find the park and reach out to the team using the details below:

Choosing Houghton / Letchworth KOA Holiday is worth it for anyone who values a balance of high-end amenities and genuine, local hospitality. While there are many state park options nearby, the KOA provides several advantages that public lands cannot, such as reliable Wi-Fi, cable TV, and the convenience of a fully stocked camp store. It is especially worth choosing for families with children, as the "kid-friendly" nature of the park is reinforced by organized activities and themed events that turn a simple camping trip into a lifelong memory. The safety of a gated community, combined with the extreme cleanliness of the facilities, provides a level of comfort that is often missing from more rugged sites.

Additionally, the proximity to the Genesee Valley and the Amish country of Allegany County adds a unique layer to your stay. It is not uncommon to see Amish neighbors passing by or to visit local artisan shops just minutes from the gate. When you factor in the peace of mind provided by a staff that truly cares—as evidenced by their willingness to coordinate repairs or accommodate late arrivals—it becomes clear why so many New York residents return to this location year after year. Whether you are seeking the "glamping" luxury of a deluxe cabin or a quiet spot to park your RV under the stars, this campground delivers a premier experience in the heart of nature.

Great campsite. Staff super friendly and efficient. We had g4 on the main road through the site. It was perfect, full hook up. Fire pit and they supply firewood etc. Great shop. Wonderful games room , lots to do. Really pretty place and they take really good care of it. Everywhere mown nicely. They even take your garbage away for you, all you do is leave your bag by your site in the morning. Gated entry. Felt safe here. We did one night on our way through our road trip. Would definitely recommend.

Cannot say enough good things about the owners and staff. Had an issue with our truck towing our camper. Contacted the KOA and was put in touch with a mechanic who sent a rollback and picked up the truck and camper. Rollback took us to the campground and put our camper in our site, then took the truck to the garage. The truck was repaired and delivered back to us 1 day later. Everyone was extremely helpful and thoughtful of the situation. We are extremely thankful for everyone who helped us in our time of need. Thanks to everyone. The Wagners

Very friendly staff!! It has gorgeous camping spots down near the pond. Huge lots that lookout over the pond. Cabins look nice from the outside too. Bathrooms smelt and looked clean. Would definitely go back.

If I could leave a zero review I would. While the campground is decent, the owner is aggressive and possibly racist. He doesn't have good people skills and should not be working in the hospitality business. He came to our campsite at midnight and was yelling at us and threatening us. The rest of the weekend he made sure to tell us exactly how much time we had left to do every single activity. Swimming in the morning: you have 15 minutes left, hanging out in the lodge: you have 5 minutes left. Not in a polite way, in a 'I need to be in control of every aspect of all things' kind of way. There was supposed to be a fishing derby at 1130, we got there at 1135 and it had been canceled already, because no one showed up. There's nothing special about this place and with such an over-bearing presence throughout the weekend, it was just not enjoyable. DO NOT recommend.
