Lake Bonaparte Marina & Campground Introduce

Lake Bonaparte Marina & Campground serves as a quintessential North Country destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts looking to experience the beauty of Lewis County. Nestled on the shores of the historic Lake Bonaparte—named after Joseph Bonaparte, the brother of Napoleon—this facility offers a unique combination of a traditional campground and a functional marina. For New York residents seeking a getaway that balances rustic charm with essential amenities, this location provides direct access to one of the region's most celebrated bodies of water. The campground is designed to be a one-stop shop for summer recreation, where the day begins with a sunrise over the lake and ends with a gathering around a campfire.

The atmosphere at Lake Bonaparte Marina & Campground is centered around life on the water. As the only marina and campground directly servicing the lake, it acts as a central hub for the local boating community and visiting vacationers alike. The property is deeply rooted in the local Harrisville culture, providing a welcoming environment where children can play and adults can unwind. Whether you are arriving with a large RV or looking to launch a boat for a day of fishing, the facility provides the infrastructure necessary to make the most of the short but vibrant New York summer season. Its proximity to the Adirondack Park also makes it an excellent basecamp for those wishing to explore the wider wilderness of Northern New York.

Located at 14353 Hermitage Rd, Harrisville, NY 13648, the campground is situated on the southern shore of Lake Bonaparte within the Town of Diana. For New York travelers, the site is easily accessible from various major points: it is roughly 40 minutes from Watertown, about an hour and a half from Syracuse, and less than three hours from the Albany area. The primary route into the area is via NY-3, which offers a scenic drive through the foothills of the Adirondacks. Once you reach Harrisville, the campground is a short drive down local roads that lead directly to the waterfront. Accessibility is a key feature of the grounds, which include a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a dedicated parking lot to ensure all guests can navigate the facility with ease.

The marina side of the business provides a crucial service for those who own property around the lake or those visiting for the weekend. With a hard-surface boat ramp and long-term dockage options, it simplifies the logistics of lake life. The onsite services are designed to be comprehensive, ensuring that once you park your vehicle, you have everything you need within walking distance. The presence of a local favorite restaurant, The Nauti Moose, adds a layer of convenience and social life to the campground, offering a place to grab a meal on the covered patio while watching the boats return for the evening.

  • Full RV camping sites equipped with electric, water, and sewer hookups for a seamless stay.
  • Marina services including a boat launch and seasonal or short-term dockage slips.
  • On-site dining at The Nauti Moose, featuring a covered patio and a variety of local favorites.
  • Full bathhouse facilities including public restrooms and running water for all guests.
  • Rental options for watercraft such as kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards to explore the shoreline.
  • Spacious on-site parking for both vehicles and boat trailers.
  • Grilling stations and individual barbecue grills located throughout the camping areas.
  • On-site staff available to assist with check-ins and marina logistics.

The primary highlight of Lake Bonaparte Marina & Campground is, of course, the lake itself. Spanning over 1,200 acres with a maximum depth of 75 feet, Lake Bonaparte is renowned for its excellent water quality and diverse fish populations. Anglers frequently visit the area in search of Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, and the lake’s stocked Brown Trout. For families, the "Good for Kids" designation is well-earned, as the calm waters near the docks provide a safe area for swimming and learning to paddle. The surrounding forested area, including the nearby Bonaparte's Cave State Forest, offers a network of trails for those who want to stretch their legs on land.

  • Direct access to Lake Bonaparte for motorized boating, jet skiing, and quiet water sports.
  • Pet-friendly policies that allow dogs to join the family on their camping adventure.
  • Picnic tables provided at each site to facilitate outdoor family meals and gatherings.
  • Exceptional fishing opportunities with high populations of bass, pike, and perch.
  • Scenic views of the undeveloped western shore, which is part of the Fort Drum Military Preserve.
  • Close proximity to the village of Harrisville for additional supplies, fuel, and local charm.
  • Scheduled weekend events and a lively social atmosphere at the marina during peak season.
  • Accessibility features including a wheelchair-accessible parking lot and facility entrance.

For those looking to book a site or inquire about current dockage rates, the office can be reached at (678) 234-1873. If you are calling from a mobile device, the number remains +1 678-234-1873. It is recommended to contact the management well in advance of the summer season, which typically runs from May through late September, as waterfront spots and dock slips are in high demand among the local New York community. The physical address for GPS navigation is 14353 Hermitage Rd, Harrisville, NY 13648, USA. Payments for camping fees can be made on-site, and the facility is known for its straightforward check-in process.

What makes Lake Bonaparte Marina & Campground worth choosing is the unparalleled convenience of having a marina, a restaurant, and an RV park all in one location. For boat owners, the ability to have your rig parked just steps away from your dock slip is a luxury that few other regional campgrounds can offer. This integration of services means less time spent trailering your boat and more time spent enjoying the water. It is particularly worth choosing for those who enjoy a social camping environment where the community revolves around the shared love of the lake.

Furthermore, the location serves as a perfect gateway to the Adirondacks without the heavy crowds often found in Lake Placid or Old Forge. Choosing this campground allows you to enjoy a "hidden gem" of the North Country that retains a local, small-town feel. The presence of full hookups (electric, water, and sewer) ensures that even while you are deep in the woods of Lewis County, you don't have to sacrifice the comforts of home. Whether you are planning a week-long fishing trip or a simple weekend of relaxation by the water, Lake Bonaparte Marina & Campground provides the essential New York lake experience with the professional services to back it up.

VERY Expensive. The Halls are very greedy, and all they keep doing is raising prices. Major repairs are done without permits, including electrical and septic systems. No safety plan in place. My family will not be returning this year. Two new septic's were installed 5 summers ago, and there are no permits on file. One where the first camper is on the hill and one in front of log cabin.
