We stayed in one of the cottages before our PCS and it was a great option for temporary housing. The unit had a full-sized bathroom with a tub, reliable Wi-Fi, a full-sized fridge, stove and oven, washer and dryer, and cable TVs in every room; super helpful when you’re in transition with kids. There’s no central A/C, but the window units kept the entire cottage cool and comfortable, even in the summer heat. It wasn’t as clean as I expected when we arrived, but we made sure to leave it spotless. The real highlight was the front desk receptionist! She was incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. She went above and beyond and truly made our stay smoother. Give her a raise!Overall, a solid, well-equipped place to stay before or after a PCS. Would definitely recommend.
Great place to stay on Ft Drum. Sleep 6 , porch swing was great. Stocked well for cooking in cabin
Great price and location, but literally one of the worst mattresses I have ever slept on. I think they must have got them from a yard sale in 1952. Bring everything - towels, linens, cleaning supplies, cookware and utensils. Only had a 2 burner stove top with minimal kitchen ware. Also, bring all your own cleaning supplies and paper goods. Cozy cabin, would recommend if you are outdoorsy.
The cottages were very nice. The one I was in could sleep 8. No linens are provided but that is fine since we brought our own. The one shortfall is how hard the mattresses are, we could barely sleep on them because they were so uncomfortable. Overall, I would stay there again.
We rented a 2bedroom cabin here for a week in April for a visit to our son who lives on base. It was a short distance but it takes10min to drive to his house because of the speed limit of 15-40mph. However on our first night, we arrived to the cabin at 10pm and discovered a current resident on the mattress, the bed bugs. We were putting sheets on the mattress, when I noticed 2 brown "seeds" on the mattress but when I flicked one off the mattress the "seed" was moving. Google pictures confirmed that they were bed bugs. We were shocked to see how big bed bugs can be (about the size of a tick). Once we reported it, were told that the bed bugs should not have been there since last December when someone had rented the cabin. Apparently they can live months without blood. The cottage office did help by putting us in another cabin the next day with new sheets and new dog beds. They refunded our stay. Just FYI, if you go to any hotels or cabins, check the mattress first before putting your luggage or sheets or any belongings in the room. Google bed bugs and you will find all the signs and treatments. We did not bring them home with us because we did follow the Google suggestions. As for the cabins, they were nice looking but not efficient or sound proof or well built. Little things like not enough hooks to hang towels or clothing in the bathroom. Thin walls that you can hear someone texting next door. If you leave the light on in the bathroom, you can see the light through back bedroom wall connecting it. Poor AC/ heat placement. It only heats or cool the living room area.If you rent one, bring more than just sheets and towels. Go to Dollar Tree and get toilet paper, dish soap, Febreeze for bathroom, food, drinks, coffee & filter.
