Lake George Schroon Valley Campground Introduce
For New York residents looking to trade the concrete jungle for the whispering pines of the North Country, Lake George Schroon Valley Campground offers a quintessential Adirondack experience. Situated in the charming town of Warrensburg, this destination serves as a premier riverside retreat for those who appreciate the gentle flow of the Schroon River and the rugged majesty of the surrounding foothills. As a multifaceted facility, it caters to a wide variety of outdoor enthusiasts, operating not just as a traditional campground but also as a dedicated RV park and recreation center. It is a place where local families come to reconnect, often returning season after season to enjoy the clear mountain air and the rhythmic pace of riverside living.
The atmosphere at Lake George Schroon Valley is defined by its natural setting. Tucked amidst towering white pines, paper birches, and maples, the park provides a sense of seclusion that feels worlds away from the bustling tourist corridors of Lake George Village, despite being only a short drive from major regional attractions. Whether you are a "local" from the Capital District or a traveler from the southern reaches of the state, the campground offers a welcoming environment where children can roam safely and adults can relax by a crackling campfire. The park's commitment to accessibility and modern amenities ensures that every guest, regardless of their camping style, can find a comfortable home base in the wilderness.
Location and accessibility are among the top reasons New Yorkers choose this specific campground. Located at 1730 Schroon River Rd, Warrensburg, NY 12885, the park is conveniently positioned just off the Adirondack Northway (I-87). This strategic location makes it incredibly easy to reach for large RV rigs and families traveling with trailers. Despite its proximity to the interstate, the park's layout emphasizes the waterfront, with many sites backing directly onto the Schroon River. This allows guests to enjoy the natural barrier of the river while maintaining easy access to the services of Warrensburg and the entertainment options in nearby Bolton Landing and Lake George.
Inside the park, the management has prioritized ease of movement for all guests. The campground features a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a dedicated parking lot, along with accessible restrooms to accommodate visitors with mobility needs. The roads within the park are designed to be "big rig friendly," allowing for the navigation of modern travel trailers and motorhomes. For those who prefer a more local perspective, the site is perfectly situated for day trips to the Adirondack High Peaks or the various boat launches that provide access to the larger Schroon and George lakes. On-site parking is plentiful, and the staff is noted for being personable and helpful in guiding newcomers to their designated sites.
Lake George Schroon Valley Campground provides a comprehensive suite of services designed to ensure a stress-free vacation. The facility is equipped to handle everything from primitive tenting to luxury RV setups. The services offered include:
- Full RV camping hookups, including both water and electrical connections (30 and 50 amp service available).
- Comprehensive waste management with an on-site dump station and available pump-out services.
- Modern laundry facilities that are kept clean and functional for extended stays.
- A well-stocked camp store offering ice, firewood, and basic grocery essentials.
- Professional on-site management and round-the-clock staff to assist with camping needs.
- High-speed Wi-Fi hotspots located at the main lodge for those who need to stay connected.

The features and highlights of the campground distinguish it as a top-tier recreation center in the Warren County area. From waterfront relaxation to high-energy play, the park offers something for every age group. Notable highlights include:

When deciding where to park your RV or pitch your tent in the Lake George region, Lake George Schroon Valley Campground is worth choosing for its authentic "natural" feel compared to the more commercialized resorts in the area. For many New Yorkers, the draw is the balance of simplicity and convenience. You have the ability to fish for trout directly from your campsite or tube down the crystal-clear river, yet you are only fifteen minutes away from the gourmet dining and boutique shopping of Bolton Landing. This duality makes it an ideal spot for "shakedown" trips for new RV owners or long-term seasonal stays for those who want a permanent summer escape.
Furthermore, the park is worth choosing because of its welcoming community. The seasonal campers are frequently cited by transient visitors as being kind and helpful, contributing to a true "neighborhood" atmosphere. The cleanliness of the facilities—particularly the laundry and pool areas—reflects a level of care that ensures your stay is comfortable. While the proximity to the highway provides some road noise, the trade-off is unparalleled ease of access to the best of the Adirondacks. If you value friendly staff, clear water, and a location that puts the best of New York’s wilderness at your doorstep, this Warrensburg gem is an excellent choice for your next family outing. Would you like me to look into the specific themed events scheduled for the upcoming summer season at this campground?

I stayed here for one night as a shakedown trip with my new Jayco 197MB. I had planned on staying for 2 nights but a forecasted rainstorm and the fact that I was only 20 miles from home sent me home after one night. First the pro's - It's a small campground and the staff were extremely friendly and personable. There are approximately 140 sites and probably 95% had campers on them (a con), but there were only a handful of them occupied. I was able to get a riverside site. I was there on a weekday in September so there were no activities going on but I could tell there was plenty to do "in season". The con's - The sites are small and very tightly packed. Luckily most sites were unoccupied, except for one of my neighbors. The riverside sites are all back in, and you back in perpendicular to the campground road. Except for my two neighbors, they both had parked parallel to the campground road, and both looked to be seasonal/semi permanent residents. The one on my backside was connected to the water spigot for my site when I pulled in. I didn't see any signs of life, so I unhooked their hose. The one in my front yard was set up so that I got to enjoy whatever activity they were up to, which included watching their Roku TV late into the night, with all their seasonal camp lights on, while I was trying to enjoy a solo fire by the Riverside. Other con's included no Wi-Fi; sketchy cell service; no picnic table(most sites did have them, just not mine); and lots of road noise from the interstate just across the river. We camped at Lake George Schroon Valley Resort in a Travel Trailer.
I truly enjoyed this campground. The river was low enough while we were there to do some rockhounding. The water was crystal clear. The seasonal campers were very kind and welcoming to us as transients. Our site had plenty of room. Laundry room was clean and so was pool. Very close to all the local attractions. Bolton's Landing has lots of entertainment options. The park itself was laid out nicely with a real campground feel. I look forward to returning.
We camped here last weekend (RV). The campground itself is well maintained and the people are all super nice. The sites are VERY close together and there is no privacy. The site we were given didn't have grass - it was this dirty sand that was awful. We booked this campground because it said there was live music on Saturday night, only to find out that is at the "sister" campground 5 or 6 miles away. This was a huge disappointment for sure. Also, you had to pay for internet. Cable was very poor
This campground was pretty good. The bathrooms were good, showers were meh. The sites were good size, but main complaint here is actually a big one, don’t use sand at the sites. My RV is a wreck after staying here for not even a full week. No matter how much we wiped our feet and our dogs paws, the sand is EVERYWHERE in our rig. Please do rid the sites of all the sand next season, it will greatly improve the campground! Everything else was excellent, especially the laundry.
This is the sister site of the Lake George Escape campground a few miles away. I've brought my RV to both campgrounds this summer and had a great experience at both. This Schroon Valley site is the smaller campground and very quiet and peaceful even with all sites booked. It seems like there are more seasonal campers here. I cant say I agree with the past comments about seasonal sites being messy or unsightly...i only saw one older rig with a broken awning, every other site was nicely maintained, many seasonal site owners had put up decks, popups and decorated with flags and landscaping. The sites down below without sewer connections are more spacious - we stayed in #140 which is extra wide with space for the kids to play or for extra parking. The park host was very kind to help us out with this site assignment as we arrived a little after the 8pm check in cut off, and helped accommodate us in 140 after spot 43 proved to be too small to back our 26 ft trailer into. They offer firewood delivery to campsites and mobile pumpouts to the non-sewer sites. There isn't much for activities at this site, but the good news is your stay entitles you to visit the sister site LG Escape to take advantage of the beach, tubing or paddling on the river, playground, restaurant and bar, rentals, movies or music in the park, etc. It's very pleasant to walk around both sites, and the neighbors are all friendly. I had trouble removing my new hose from the water spigot and a neighbor lent me a wrench. The facilities are spartan but clean. I think I'd prefer to stay at the Schroon River site if I wanted a quiet stay, and if i was in the mood to be more social and active, I might choose to stay at the Escape site. I like that there's far less golf carts cruising around the Schroon River site...makes for a quieter stay.
