Little Mexico Campground Introduce

Little Mexico Campground is a vibrant and expansive outdoor retreat nestled in the heart of the Susquehanna Valley in Winfield, Pennsylvania. Spanning over 42 acres of lush, rolling landscape, this destination has become a cornerstone for family recreation in Central Pennsylvania. The campground is uniquely positioned with the scenic Penns Creek flowing directly through its center, providing a natural soundtrack of babbling water and a playground for aquatic enthusiasts. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and a deep-rooted sense of community, the park caters to a wide demographic, from seasonal campers who have called the grounds their summer home for decades to weekend travelers seeking a high-energy escape with modern amenities.

What sets Little Mexico Campground apart from many other regional facilities is its commitment to providing a full-scale resort experience while maintaining the rustic charm of the Pennsylvania woods. The property is meticulously maintained, offering a mix of shaded and open sites that accommodate everything from primitive tents to the largest luxury RVs. Throughout the summer months, the campground buzzes with activity, featuring a robust schedule of planned events and themed weekends. However, the magic of Little Mexico does not end with the summer season; it has gained widespread acclaim for its annual "Valley of Lights" holiday display, which transforms the 42-acre park into a winter wonderland, drawing families from across the state to experience one of the region's most heartwarming Christmas traditions.

Conveniently located at 1640 Little Mexico Rd, Winfield, PA 17889, the campground is easily accessible for residents of the Keystone State. It sits just a short drive off major travel arteries including US Route 11, US Route 15, and Interstate 80. This strategic location makes it an ideal midpoint for travelers coming from Harrisburg, Williamsport, or State College, typically requiring less than an hour's drive from these major hubs. The road leading to the camp winds through the beautiful countryside of Snyder County, offering visitors a scenic introduction to the rural peace that awaits them at the gate.

Accessibility and convenience are core components of the guest experience at Little Mexico. The campground features a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a spacious, wheelchair-accessible parking lot. The facilities are designed to be inclusive, with wheelchair-accessible and gender-neutral restrooms located centrally to the camping loops. For those arriving with large rigs, the park is "big rig friendly," offering wide pull-through sites and 50-amp electrical hookups that eliminate the stress of navigating tight wooded corners. Whether you are arriving for a quick picnic or a month-long stay, the layout ensures that every guest can navigate the grounds with ease.

  • Full RV hookup sites including water, sewer, cable TV, and 30/50-amp electrical service.
  • Waterfront camping options directly along the banks of Penns Creek for tents and RVs.
  • On-site rentals including primitive and full-service cabins for those without their own camping equipment.
  • The "Valley of Lights" drive-thru Christmas display featuring thousands of lights, character appearances, and a nativity scene.
  • Comprehensive sanitation services including a dump station and professional "honey wagon" pump-out services.
  • Kayak, canoe, and tube rentals for exploring the gentle currents of Penns Creek.
  • Golf cart rentals for easy transportation across the expansive 42-acre property.
  • A fully stocked camp store providing ice, firewood, live bait, and essential grocery items.
  • On-site laundry facilities and clean shower houses for long-term guest convenience.

The highlights of Little Mexico Campground are as diverse as the visitors who frequent it. One of its most famous features is the swimming facility, which is recognized as the largest above-ground pool in the United States, providing a massive refreshing oasis during the humid Pennsylvania summers. For those who prefer natural water, Penns Creek offers some of the best tubing and floating opportunities in the region. The creek is shallow and gentle enough for family floats, yet scenic enough to satisfy avid kayakers.

  • Three large on-site ponds stocked for fishing, providing a perfect spot for children to land their "first big catch."
  • Two expansive modern playgrounds and a dedicated jumping pillow that keep children entertained for hours.
  • An 18-hole miniature golf course and a professional laser tag court for competitive family fun.
  • A dedicated fenced-in dog park and pet-friendly policies that ensure four-legged family members are welcome.
  • Weekly planned activities ranging from bingo and crafts to live musical performances and hayrides.
  • A magical Christmas cottage where children can visit with Santa and participate in holiday crafts.
  • Proximity to local attractions like Knoebels Amusement Resort, Penn’s Cave, and the Selinsgrove Speedway.

The physical address is 1640 Little Mexico Rd, Winfield, PA 17889, USA. Choosing Little Mexico Campground is worth it for anyone seeking a high-quality, community-driven outdoor experience in Central Pennsylvania. For families, the sheer volume of activities—from the jumping pillow to the massive pool—ensures that children are never bored, allowing parents the rare opportunity to truly relax by the creek. The campground is especially worth choosing for its holiday programming; the "Valley of Lights" offers a more intimate and affordable alternative to larger commercial light shows, complete with hot cocoa and the "magical" atmosphere mentioned by countless local visitors.

Furthermore, the value lies in the flexibility of the accommodations. Whether you want to rough it in a rustic tent site along the water or enjoy the comforts of a full-hookup RV site with cable TV, Little Mexico provides an option that fits your budget and style. The new ownership has been praised for making consistent improvements to the grounds, ensuring that facilities like the restrooms and playgrounds remain in top-tier condition. By choosing Little Mexico, you are not just booking a campsite; you are securing a spot in a place where memories are made year-round, from summer splashes in the creek to the twinkling lights of December.

In conclusion, Little Mexico Campground stands as a premier example of Pennsylvania’s outdoor hospitality. Its unique blend of natural beauty along Penns Creek and its high-end recreational amenities makes it a standout choice in the Winfield area. Whether you are a local resident looking for a holiday tradition or a traveler seeking the ultimate summer basecamp, Little Mexico delivers a professional, friendly, and unforgettable experience that captures the true spirit of the Susquehanna Valley.

We went for the Christmas Lights and it was absolutely wonderful! The lights were gorgeous! The staff were very friendly and helpful. When your done seeing the lights there is a cute cottage where you can visit with Santa for free. There are crafts at the cottages for a small fee and snacks and of course hot co co.

I'm an activities director for a senior living community. I took 11 residents to see the holiday lights and it was magical. They loved the lights, the many characters and of course the nativity scene. Thank you for such a wonderful and affordable experience for my residents!

We stayed in one of the cabins for our first time. It was great they provide almost everything you might need except for the things listed on their website. The campground store has just about anything you could think of, if you forget to pack something. We had a great stay. We had other family and friends camping here too and everybody had a good time! We book a cabin for next year. ☆★☆★☆★

Little Mexico Campground has been on my bucket list of Campgrounds to try. This place is very nice and has spacious spots. The owners and staff are amazing and sweet. The day finally came for us to come and enjoy our time here Thur to Mon. While on our way we had to be moved due to hurricane Debby and fear of flooding, which was completely fine. When we woke up Friday morning and saw how much the creek had rose, they told us they would be moving us to higher ground. They did give us an option to move or reschedule, we choose to stay. Let me tell they were on it and moved whomever needed to be and they truly cared, they wanted us to be safe. I appreciate the entire staff and owners of this campground. Thank you to all the seasonal campers as well who offered to help us in the pouring down rain to help us pack up and move. When an emergency like this happens they had every camper in mind and did an amazing job at taking care of all of us. We are forever grateful for making what could have been a disaster not as stressful for us campers. All the staff and owners WE THANK YOU
